Chapter 5: Ch. 5 – Blakk Valdr

Rei doubted what the system told him to do. Even though Rei was quite adept at eating anything that was provided by mother nature on Earth, Rei still had to think twice about eating the beast's raw heart. Moreover, he didn't know what kind of bacteria and viruses that might inhabit blakk valdr's blood.

But, no matter how hard he resisted his hunger, Rei couldn't win the urge to devour the beast's heart after all.

The bestial instinct inside him started to raging, Rei almost lost his control and begin to transformed into his Wolf Form. He could feel his Lycan Bloodline run amuck and tried to seize his consciousness.

Rei could feel his claws grew longer, his skin and hands were slowly getting bigger and bulky. His body's temperature was increasing rapidly and made his head feel like it was being pounded with a sledge hammer as his heart thumping so hard.

[You are entering the Berserk Stage due to extreme hunger!]

He was battling his own Rage, he didn't want to lose his control over his own body. Fifteen minutes have passed, Rei eventually regains his sanity although he can't fully stop the transformation. The shape of his hands was still like a beast.

There was no other choices other than devouring the Blakk Valdr's carcasses to survive and not losing control of his mind.

Without further hesitation, Rei started to tear the biggest blakk valdr amongst all and impaled its chest and gouged out its heart. Dark and purple blood oozed out from the heart, Rei took a mouthful bite and munched it like a prehistoric human eating a piece of meat.

After he ate the beast's heart till there was nothing left, the poisonous attribute that contained in the beast's blood started to react with his body. He could feel his body was burning inside out, his veins bulked uncontrollably and gradually turned black. All his muscles were wrinkled and tossed around like an animal that was being poisoned.

"Aarrgghhh!!!!"

 

Rei couldn't handle the extreme pain that he felt and eventually passed out during his poisoned stage.

 After a while, he could feel his consciousness resurfaced. He groaned and opened his eyes and greeted by another notification from the system.

Ding!

[You absorbed the soul of Blakk Valdr!]

[The soul will be extracted to Life Essence]

[You obtained 5 Life Essence]

[You also fully absorbed Blakk Valdr's poisonous blood, you are now immune to any lesser poisons that are weaker than Blakk Valdr's Poisons!]

Rei gasped and woke up immediately. He looked out at his surroundings, he didn't know how long it had been since he passed out, he gazed at the sky and saw the gracefulness of the morning sun in the west horizon.

Before he could appreciate the beauty of the hellish paradise in front of him, the after taste of Blakk Valdr's blood lingered in his mouth and nose and made him almost throw up. Although the stench was unbearable, he reluctantly bare with it because he didn't know when or where he could get food any sooner.

"Yuck! It tastes and smells like sewer and rotten meat combined!"

He quickly searched for any water sources nearby, after he looked around him, he saw a blue big crowned flower with bowl-like shape with plenty of morning dews inside. He carefully checked, sniffed, and gave it a lick before drinking. Until he was sure there were no foreign substances inside the water, he gulped down all the water till the last drop.

The taste of the water was very refreshing, and it washed away all the awful after tastes of the beast's heart. He wiped his mouth after he drank and cursed at himself.

Grumble!

Rei's stomach rumbled once again, but at that moment he realized it was a normal hunger because he didn't have any food for a couple of days.

"Sigh, it seems like I have to make a fireplace, and grill those filthy beasts," Rei grumped.

When he thought about making a fireplace, the system gave him another notification in front of his eyes as hologram text with multiple top down menus:

Without further ado, Rei tapped Magic Skills menu to see if there were any basic magic skills that he could think of.

Rei was amazed by the varieties of the magic skills inside the menu. There were tons of them, he couldn't even comprehend each of them one by one. After he scrolled through the basic magic skills category, he found something interesting and tapped his system's interface.

"This is it!" Rei's eyes gleamed as he saw the fire magic that he can afford with his current Life Essences at his disposal.

[Eldr-Vik]

 

[Invoke a little spark of fire to ignite anything flammable]

 

[Cost: 3 Life Essences]

 

[Do you wish to learn this skill?]

"Yes!"

[Skill has been learned!]

 

[Call the name of the skills to use it]

Rei smiled and clenched his right fist. Although it was just a spark of fire, he knew he could do so much more with it.

With that simple skill he could survive in the wilderness as long as there were woods to burn and foods to process. Moreover, his body as Lycan was very tough and had very good resistance to cold and heat.

Rei quickly gathered some twigs and some dried wood. He also foraged another weird bowl-shaped flower that contained refreshing morning dews. After he felt everything was sufficient, he arranged some stones and made a small fireplace.

He stacked the twigs and pointed his index finger to the fireplace, he was cringed at first to call the name of the skills. So he whispered softly and called the name of the skill.

"Eldr-Vik!"

Bzztt! Crakle!

With just that simple wording, a spark of fire invoked from the tip of his index finger and lit up the fireplace easily.

"Yeah!"

Rei raised both of his hands high above his head, he was so amused like a toddler who did something amazing for the first time.

He then tore one of the Blakk Valdr's limb and skinned it clean. After that he made a bushcraft style grill made out from long twigs so he could roast it slowly.

After an hour, the meat was done. Rei couldn't wait any longer and ate the perfectly cooked meat.

After Rei replenished his thirst and hunger, finally he could decompress and chill out for a little bit. A flock of birds flew and drop by above his head, they sang so beautifully and yet gave eerie, ancient vibe to the vicinity of the humongous Banyan Tree. The morning scenery of the pristine jungle was indeed so tranquil and made Rei's mind momentarily at ease. 

He sat cross legged under the tree while he pondered about the wild night that he had been through. He closed his eyes and scanned Silas Carnielle's memories and learned everything as fast as he could. First was language that was commonly used in Ezeroth and then followed by the culture, common sense and the daily basis.

At some point when he dug deeper into Silas' memories and past, Rei was having an urge to come back to Silas' fief, Northendale. There was something unfinished and was left behind by Silas.

However, when he try to dug Silas' memories about the House of Carnielle, the onslaught at the Northendale, everything was veiled and covered by thick black fogs inside Silas' memories so Rei couldn't enter them like the other general memories.

"What happened to you, Silas?" Rei pondered while he gazed at the smoldering charcoals and ashes on the fireplace.

Although he pondered quite hard, there was no answer from Silas' memories whatsoever and so he gave up for the time beings.

"Welp… Before I go up north, I need to be strong enough and find a way out from here first!"

Rei stood up and arched his back and did his morning routine to warm up his body.

"Alright! Time to hunt!"
