Chapter 13: Chapter 13 : The First Hunt (Part-1)

Mark passed a stream of 'Energy Points' through 'Shield-Aura-path', and that converted his 'Energy points' into 'Shield-Aura'. 

Then, he used 'Shield-Aura' to form a few incoherent 'Runes', and sent those 'Runes' into both of his hands. 

Next, those 'Runes' poured into the Holy Sword in his right hand and a half-meter-long rhombus-shaped shield, strapped on his left hand.

"Ting!!!" 

The holy sword collided with the rhombus shield and produced an annoying 'Ting' sound. 

[Skill Activated: Berserk Wave (H)

Description: All beasts in 50 meters radius would go Berserk and attack the user.

Cost: 10 Aura Points

Note: Can be stacked.]

In the game, this was one of the most efficient skills used by 'Tanks' to attract the aggro of the beasts. Though, it made beasts berserk, which was detrimental to his party.

A few seconds later, a hulking yellow figure came out of the cave and looked at Mark with its menacing red eyes. 

Mark gulped.

He and the Quogoa were less than 20 meters apart, and the pressure he was feeling right now was nothing to scoff at.

'Fuck!!! Did I really have to learn 'that' skill combo?' 

Mark really wanted to give a solid kick to his old self. 

Though even Mark knew, that decision was correct, and he was just ranting because of his fear.

Mark tried to ignore the fear and clenched his teeth. With trembling hands, he struck the shield with the flat side of his holy sword, twice. 

"Ting!!"

"Ting!!" 

Mark looked at his status, and unsurprisingly, his 30 Energy points were missing.

Though his actions had an intended effect, the Quogoa ran towards him with blood-red — almost berserk — eyes. 

"GRHHH~~" 

Its growl conveyed its anger, and Mark's heart chilled for a second. 

The wrathful growl reminded him of the fear he had felt in his past life. When he was diagnosed with a terminal illness.

It was the fear of death. 

For a second, Mark wanted to turn around and run away at full speed, but his fear didn't allow him to even move. He was completely frozen on his spot, seemingly in a trans, and only came to reality when a lithe figure collided with him. 

Thump. 

Both he and the lithe figure were thrown a few meters away, and a groan escaped his mouth. 

"Argh!!!" 

The force they collided with was no joke. All air was sucked out of his lung because of the impact, and he had trouble even breathing. 

Though, when he looked at who the lithe figure was, his world seemed to crumble.

There, a few meters away from him, a blonde beauty in steel armor was laying on the ground… seemingly dead. 

It seemed, when he was frozen because of fear, she had come between him and the Quogoa… to protect him. 

"Leona," he muttered with wide eyes and hurriedly moved towards her, seemingly forgetting the existence of the Quogoa. 

[Brother, how is sis??] 

The ring on his forefinger shone, and Mark heard Catherine's voice in his head. But he didn't reply and took Leona's hand in his.

"Phew," when Mark confirmed she was alive and was just unconscious, he took a sigh of relief and made her drink a healing potion. 

Though it would take some time, the potion would help her in healing.

Then Mark hurriedly looked towards the ongoing battle.

Melanie was trying to stab the Quogoa with her dagger and stiletto, but with no success. 

Though, when the Quogoa tried to hit her with its claw, a lightning bolt struck it, making it retreat. 

Just like that, both parties were in a stalemate. 

But when the Quogoa tried to ignore her and wanted to go after anyone else, Melanie used [Stealth] and stabbed it, giving it a few shallow but painful wounds. 

So the stalemate continued. 

[Brother, I don't have much mana left.] 

Again, the ring on his forefinger glowed, and he heard Catherine's voice. 

[It's the same for me.] Melanie also spoke inside his head. [And how's Leona?]

[She's fine.] Mark replied after activating the communication ring. 

[Thank god.] Elanor sighed. She was asked to stay further away from the battlefield, but she had still seen how hard the Quogoa had collided with Leona. 

[So what should we do?]

Catherine asked after sending a blue lightning bolt towards the hulking yellow Quogoa. 

[Wait.]

Mark said and began to look at their status. He wanted nothing more than to punch himself in the face, but this was not the time for self-loathing.
