Chapter 11: Auction and Blushing?

In Fragrant jade city's Dragon's Whiskers Pagoda,

Sitting by a table while delectable dishes were in front of him, Jianyu was currently looking out of the window as all hope had left him.

'AAaahhh! How awkward!'

Even as Jianyu screamed internally, his face still showed a calm and warm smile.

'Seriously this girl doesn't speak a word on her, and even if I try to start a conversation, she only gives single-word answers. Like, I know you don't like me, but there's no need to act like a bitch is there!'

'Alright! let's end it with grumbling here. Well, there's still some time before the auction begins. So, I should try to talk to her a bit more. 

"Miss Xifeng, Is the food here to your taste?" I asked with a calm smile, in complete contrast to my thoughts.

"Y-yes, it tastes good." Yin Xifeng answered with an unusual smile as if taken by surprise.

'Did she seriously forget that I was sitting in front of her, is the food that good?'

"Well, I am glad to hear that. This place is quite famous for its food, so bringing you here was a great choice." 

"Also, the auction we will be attending today apparently has some great treasure. So, you can look forward to it."

"Mhm, I am truly looking forward to it." This time Xifeng's expression was not as stiff and her smile was beautiful.

'Does she like auctions? Perhaps she likes the act of competing with others using money. Well, I would probably enjoy slapping people with wealth, so I can't criticize her.'

After having our meal, we decided(I suggested) to head toward Phoenix's Feather auction hall. Honestly, I am a bit excited about this auction. I mean, if you have money auctions are the best way to have fun. 

Soon, we reached the auction hall. There, I showed a pendant that Lei Qiang gave to me this morning to the auction hall's guard. Upon seeing the pendant, the guard greeted us politely and showed us to a VIP room.

The room had two comfy-looking chairs and a sing table.

I signaled Miss Xifeng to have a seat before sitting down like a gentleman. To which, she showed no appreciation.

Since there was a little time before the auction began, I tried to start some small talk with Yin Xifeng.

"Miss Xifeng, if there is anything you like just let me know. If possible I would like to gift it to you as a memento of our first outing."

"Now, let us begin the auction!" After declaring this, Yao Ruolan directed everyone's attention toward the first item of the auction. 'How boring... while the items presented weren't that bad, they are something I can easily get. Can't I get some amazing hidden treasure like a heavenblessed?' 

Thinking this, I turned to Yin Xifeng to see what's she doing. Only to find her looking back at me.

'You too, huh...' At this, I felt a strange sense of camaraderie with her.

Noticing that she had already lowered her head, I decided to talk to her.

"It's quite boring isn't it?"

"Ah...n-not at all." She looked a bit flustered as she answered.

'I guess even she is rude enough to say it to my face.' I let out a light chuckle as I thought this, causing her to blush a little.

I kept talking to her for a while after this...

"...Next up, we have a mysterious five-colored jade fragment obtained by a mysterious cultivator. This Jade fragment contains five elemental qi and can be used to refine a high-ranking artifact, the beginning price is...200 mid-rank spirit stones."

World essence jade is not truly jade, it is a special material formed from the remains of a destroyed world. Although the quality varies from one specimen to another, but all of them contain a bit of the Dao laws.

'This one seems to contain the five elemental Dao laws, something that I need urgently. Isn't this too much to be considered a coincidence? Could it be I am the chosen on-' Just then I heard a voice.

"250 mid-rank spirit stones." The source of this voice was a man in dark robes covering his entirety with a mask obscuring his face. His voice was Indistinct.

I looked toward the World essence jade and said in a calm voice.

"500 mid-rank spirit stones."

Suddenly audible gasps could be heard among the crowd as the robed figure looked back at me in what seemed frustration. To which, I just smiled.

"600 mid-rank spirit stones!" The robed man raised the price with a hint of anger in his indistinct voice.

"1,000 mid-rank spirit stones." I spoke with an indifferent voice.

After a few moments of silence, the robed man started to leave the auction hall. "Seeing this, the auctioneer declared, "Sold to the young master on the 4th floor.

Looking at the leaving back of the robed man, I said.

"Lei Qiang"

"Yes, young master." Suddenly Lei Qiang appeared right next to me out of nowhere.

"Send someone to investigate that guy"

"Yes, young master." Nodding at Lei Qiang's affirmation. 

'Hmm, is this a new one or the already known one?' I wondered as I thought of the robed man.

'Well, more importantly, I have to make sure that she doesn't ask for the world essence jade. I mean, I won't give this to her even if she asked. After all, it's far too precious and rare.'

"Our next item is very precious everyone. It's a unity realm artifact in the shape of an earring, made using a sun-blaze jewel and a phoenix's feather. the starting bid is 400 mid-rank spirit stones. 

"900 mid-rank spirit stones." I bid in an instant.

'Hell yeah! The goddess of luck is smiling upon me!'

Ending my internal monologue, I turned toward Yin Xifeng with an adoring smile.

"I think these earrings would look great on you, Miss Xifeng."

"I-is that so...thank you" Yin Xifeng answered with her voice growing smaller.

'Is she blushing? Why!? Wait, maybe she just isn't used to compliments.'

'As if! she's the favored granddaughter of the Yin family matriarch, then maybe it's just that she hasn't interacted much with the opposite gender.'

'Yup, that's gotta be it.' Noticing that I have been quiet for a while, I decided to say something.

"...I-I am glad to hear that you liked it."

What followed after that was the usual, stifling silence.

At the time of Yin Xifeng's departure, the sun was already setting and the sky was painted in a red hue.

Once we were done with our farewells, Yin Xifeng just stood there with her head lowered. Then out of nowhere, she rushed toward me and gave me a little peck on my cheek. 

"Huh?" As I stood there baffled with my hand over my cheek, Yin Xifeng rushed to the immortal boat behind her and left.

With a hand over his cheek, where she kissed. Looking at the boat disappearing into the crimson skies, this sight seemed to signify the first love of an innocent boy.

As for what was this 'innocent' boy's thoughts?
