The small group of four entered the house. It was the same at the door, just like the Cavias family mansion, where there were two guards, with swords and shields stationed there for protection.
Inside the mansion, the first thing that anyone would notice, is the huge brown, staircase leading upward to the second floor. Aside from that, there was a huge portrait, depicting the emblem of the family.
Ankston's emblem, that of the Black Wolf's head, on the right side. It inspired fear into everyone that took a look at it, since, even if it wasn't intentional, it still made everyone who looked at it, remember, the legendary Beast of Darkness.
The rest was normal furniture, and on the right side of the huge staircase, was visible a door at the end of the hall, where you could see the backyard of the mansion. Matthew took a look around him, and again, was quite impressed by the scenery here.
Nero smiled, when he saw Matthew looking at everything around him in surprise and wonder. He said to the little boy, "So, I heard you entered the Cavias family residence, how does our humble mansion compare?".
Nero had never entered the Cavias family home, and his wife had been there only three or so times. She did say that their houses were kind of the same, in how good-looking they were, but he didn't trust her words much. After all, she could have lied just to make him feel better, not like this was the first time either.
Matthew smiled, and said, "Well, I would say both are beautiful in their own ways, but, if I had to speak on my own opinion, I prefer this one! I like the emblem of the family more, and it being displayed here, is a great addition to the place!".
Nero chuckled a little, as he said, "Oh, really? Are you just lying to make me feel good, or are you for real? Also, Olly, stop bugging him for now, you will get your chance after we finish. Actually, you will get your chance every day, since he will be living with us forever!".
Olivia was still touching Matthew's face, and demanding he give her the piece of candy. But instead, the nine-year-old completely ignored her, and just looked around himself. Finally, Olivia pouted, as she stopped, and stepped to the side.
Matthew smiled at her, then turned to look at Nero, and said, "No, I wouldn't lie on such matters, because if I did want to lie, I wouldn't just stop at saying that it's a bit better in my opinion, I would instead make it look fabulous, compared to that mediocre mansion!".
Nero started laughing, then clapped his hands, and said, "Tanvel!". With that, a middle-aged man, wearing butler attire, came forward, and gave a small bow, as he asked, "Do you need my help, lord?".
Nero nodded, and pointed at Matthew, as he said, "Take little Matt here to his room, you're familiar with it, since you were the one that prepared it. And, Matt, if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask! After all, you're the heir to our family!".
He continued, "It's true that we might be lowly nobles at the moment, but, never forget that we are nobles! And, with your help, the Ankston family should return to its former glory!".
Matthew nodded, and replied, "Thank you, father! I will do my best!". The nine-year-old gave a small bow to both his parents, and left with the middle-aged butler called Tanvel.
The both of them took the stairs to the second floor, and after about only two or so minutes, they reached a door. Tanvel opened it using a key, then gestured for Matthew to enter, as he said, "This will be your room from now on, little Lord!". Matthew nodded, and said, "Thank you, sir!".
He then entered the room, and the butler Tanvel closed the door behind him. Once inside the room, Matthew first looked at the bed, and touched its surface. 'Ah! It is soft, great! But also, this will be a bit weird, I am used to rock, hard beds, I've been sleeping on them for two years now, there was once where I slept in the Cavias family mansion, and I remember having a hard time sleeping!'.
He still relaxed on the bed, and was surprised to feel normal on it, "Hah! I guess I might have been wrong!", said Matthew as he smiled a bit, he now finally took a look around the room.
On the other side of his bed, was a medium-sized window. From it, you could look at the backyard of the mansion. There was a small portrait of the family emblem here as well, 'Hah! If I wake up at night, well, I might just wake everyone with me!', thought Matthew, as he chuckled a little.

There was also a desk, though the difference was very visible compared to the one he had in the orphanage. After all, first off, this desk didn't look like it was going to fall down at any moment.
There was a closet, and some other normal furniture, but that was all of it. 'This will be my room for a very long time, han? Well, I guess it's better than staying inside the orphanage, and, even though I will miss teacher, I do think that... father, will be a better teacher than him, oh, wait! I didn't ask him what his types were, I guess he might not be the best after all!'.
'Also, now that I think about it, being stronger doesn't mean being a better teacher!'. Matthew touched his chin and nodded at himself.
'Anyway, I don't feel like resting now, I am not tired at the moment, what I do feel like doing, is... Reading one of those books! I mean, I am very interested in how the founder created this family, I am also interested in knowing how influential - I think was the word - was this family back then!'.
And as such, Matthew got up from his bed, and left the room. Outside in the corner, was a guard doing patrols, when he saw Matthew, he smiled and said, "Hello there little lord!". Matthew smiled at him as well, and said, "Hello to you two!".
The guard looked around him for a second, as if checking for someone, then opened his mouth again, and said, "I am just curious to know if you're really a Magician as they say or not?".
Matthew kept smiling, and didn't answer. Instead, in the next second, the guard felt himself being pushed about three steps back, he looked at the young boy in front of him, and shock could be seen in his eyes.
"Hah! My little lord, isn't this too much?! Casting a Gust of wind without me even seeing you do it? How fast are you??? Do you know more spells? Is Air your main attribute, or secondary one?", asked the guard, one question after the other.
This guard looked to be in his early twenties, he had black hair, like most people in Decartium did, and had a normal shield, with a long sword strapped to his belt. He looked like he was bored, and was trying to pass the time with this interesting little boy.
But, in the next instant, the guard's body trembled, as he felt a hand touch his shoulder. He slowly turned around to confirm who had done so. It was a middle-aged man wearing a guard's attire, with a small white cape.
He had a spear on his back, and a short sword strapped to his belt, but no shield was visible around him. Matthew looked at this new arriving man, and he felt that this was a very strong fellow, probably even stronger than Asvin.
The middle-aged man smiled creepily at the young guard, as he said to him, "Hah! Ranson, what did I say about slaking off when on duty? And not just that, it seems you're not letting the young boy pass, and are bothering him by asking all these questions!".
The man continued, his smile soon turned into visible anger, as he said, "So, what do you want me to do to you, do you want to train a bit with me?". The young guard's face turned white at the mention of training, he shook his head forcibly, as he replied. "No, I won't slack off again, please forgive me, Chief!".
The man let out a huge sigh, and said, "This is your last time, return to your duty now!". The young guard nodded, and left to return patrolling the house. The middle-aged man then looked at Matthew, as he smiled and said, "Nice to meet you, young lord, my name is Gleeward! I am the Chief Guard here, if you need anything from me, just ask!".
The man turned around to leave, but, before he did so, he said, "It seems the rumors about a special boy in the orphanage were true, keep it up, young lord!". The man then left for good.
Matthew smiled, as he thought back to how the young guard had reacted to him casting a spell, 'Hah! I guess I am really good, han? That young guard, do I have a chance against him? If I keep my distance, maybe I do, haha! To think I can fight a guard, and I am still only nine years old!'.
