The family of four continued eating dinner, after a bit of time, they had finished. Matthew was escorted back to his room by the butler Tanvel. And with that, his first day as an Ankston family member had gone by already.

Matthew slept the night, and found out that this soft bed was thousands of times better than the one he used in the orphanage. It also didn't feel weird to sleep on such a bed, even though he had gotten familiar with his stone bed already.

Morning came quickly, and Matthew was woken up by the butler Tanvel, who said, "Good morning, my lord! Your father is expecting you at his office, so please, dress up, eat your breakfast, and follow me to him!".

Matthew nodded, and looked outside his window, to see that the sun had already begun rising. "Hmm! Okay, I am coming!". With that, Matthew wore a new outfit with the help of the butler Tanvel.

This one was blue colored, and had a small black wolf's head on the shoulder. Since he had become part of the family, and the heir at that, he was of course, required to wear the family emblem wherever he went.

Matthew ate his breakfast, and when he asked where his mother and little sister were, he was told by the butler, Tanvel, that they went shopping for some clothes, specifically for him.

'Hah! They don't have my measurements, so, will it be the same as with big sister Sia?', thought Matthew as he chuckled to himself. Though, when he asked the middle-aged man beside him, the answer was as follows, "My lord, they only went to buy the materials, the lady, and your mother, will be the one sewing them for you!".

'Oh! Yeah, that makes a lot of sense!'. With that, Matthew finished his breakfast, then followed the butler to his father's office. After knocking on the door, and getting an, "Enter", as a response, the butler and the son entered the room.

It was exactly like the orphanage's boss room was, only, it was way better looking, and the materials it had were very expensive, stuff you would see only at the richest of the noble families houses.

"Well, I will go back to my work now. My lord, if you need anything, just send for me, and I shall be here!", said Tanvel, before he excused himself out of the room. Matthew looked at his father, Nero Ankston, who was currently looking at a piece of paper.

"Ahm! Good morning, father!", said the nine-year-old, since he was being ignored until now. Only now, did his father raise his head to look at him, he smiled and said, "Good morning, Matt! How did you sleep?".

"Ah! It was great, I had a relaxing time here, and well, that's about it, amm! Do you have something for me, father?", Answered Matthew, before asking his own question. Nero nodded, and gestured for Matthew to sit, which the little boy did.

He then said, "See this piece of paper in my hand?", Matthew nodded, and Nero continued, "It is a letter sent by your uncle, he's the one who's trying to take the leadership of the family from me!".

"He was trying to crown his son, as the next leader of the Ankston family, since I didn't have an heir to my name! And well, you've already seen how weak your sister's talent in magic is. That's where you come in!".

"He has eyes here, spies to make it easier for you to understand, and they have, of course, discovered that you were adopted into our family yesterday! Now, your uncle sent a letter telling me he will give you a month to prepare, before he comes to challenge your claim!".

"His best reason for you not being the next leader, is that you're not a true Ankston! Still, when everyone sees your abilities in magic, I don't doubt that you will be made the truthful heir to our family, your uncle will try to challenge you in terms of knowledge!".

"Now, you don't have to prove anything in that regard, since your magic ability is so strong, that none of my other brothers and sisters will care much about how knowledgeable you are at this moment - you can always learn about all of that later - but, I want you to prove your uncle wrong!".

"I want you to show him that you're strong and smart! Two qualities very necessary to become a leader of the Ankston family! That's why I will have you read a lot of books about our family history over the next month!".

"You can start with these two!", said Nero, as he handed Matthew two books. One was titled, "The Ankston family leaders", and the other, "The family of wolves!". Matthew took a quick look at the synopsis of the books, and felt his curiosity peaked already.

The little boy then said, "As I said yesterday, father, I will try not to disappoint you, I am already very interested to know more about how the family was founded, and everything else relating to it, but now, I will do it as a duty to you, father!".

Nero smiled, and nodded, as he said, "Good, you will now train with me in magic until lunch is ready, and for the rest of the day, you're free to do whatever you want, including, reading these two books. If somehow, you're able to finish both of them before the end of the month, just ask me, and I will give you a third one, there is much to know about the Ankston family!".

All of this talk, made Matthew very excited to read about this new family of his, he also felt his father's hatred for his new uncle, and wanted to see him proud of him. With that, Nero took his "Son", to the backyard of the house, where they started their training in magic.

First, Nero asked the little boy about all the knowledge he had on magic thus yet, and was surprised to find out that Matthew knows quite a lot about it. He then wanted a demonstration of all the spells Matthew had learned during his two years with his magic tutor, Micheal.

Unfortunately, since Matthew was a small boy, and since he wasn't that good of a Magician yet, he couldn't keep performing spells one after the other. And so, he did some, then drank a green colored potion gifted to him by Nero, then performed more spells.

It seemed like this green colored potion was an energy drink, it restored a person's energy to it's maximum again, which made it very helpful. It quite expensive though. Still, since the Ankston family, was a noble family, something like this was very much affordable for them.

Time went by, and lunchtime had came already. It was also at this time that his mother, and little sister, had come home. Olivia went up to him, and started talking nonstop, it seemed like she was very excited to tell him everything she (Her mother, more precisely) had bought for him.

With that, the rest of the day went by very quickly. In that span of time, Matthew took a little nap,  and read the first 30 pages of the 400 pages long book, called, "The family of wolves".

He chose to read this one first, because he thought it might talk about the One Eyed Wolf, or if that legendary monster had any relation to his new family or not. And so far, there was nothing about that, it only talked about a past era where the family was a great family in the kingdom, and was one of its pillars even, just like the Cavias family was now.

Matthew also played, "It", with his new little sister, who had already started becoming less arrogant around him. And that was all about what happened in that day.

In the next day, his previous magic teacher, Micheal, the young green haired Mage, had come again. He talked to the young boy for quite a while, then to his father Nero for another while alone. After that, he left his previous student with a smile.

That night, Nero summoned Matthew, and told him the following, "I... I seem to have underestimated your last teacher! I think I will step down from teaching you, and instead, Sir Micheal will return to teaching you like he did for the last two years!".

Matthew was very confused about this, but, when he asked, his father only responded with, "Ahm! Trust me, Sir Micheal is a way better Mage than I am!". He then quickly added, "In teaching, that is! Of course, I am a stronger Magician than him!", he said so, while a fake smile could be visible on his face.

Matthew felt very suspicious after he returned to his room, after all, the way his father acted, didn't feel normal in the least. Still, since his father didn't want to answer him, his only choice was to ask his teacher about what happened, that had changed his father's opinion, as well as made him act in this weird way.
