Just like that, an entire month had already gone by since Matthew started living as the heir to the Ankston family. During this time, he was trained in magic every day. It was done by his old teacher, the green haired Mage, Micheal.
Matthew still had no idea how this young Magician, had not only managed to make his father change his mind on who was to train him, but also made his father act in a weird fashion about the situation.
Unfortunately, when Matthew had asked his magic tutor about it, the answer he got was a simple, "What are you talking about?", as if what Matthew had just asked him was a very weird thing.
Micheal only said that, he had convinced his father, since Matthew already knew how to train with him, and that, he also proved himself to be a better teacher in some odd way. Still, Matthew was not convinced by this explanation, he tried his best, but a month had gone by, and he still didn't know a thing about that little event.
During this month, he had managed to improve his spells by a lot, and now, he was even faster at casting the ones he knew. He also learned some new ones as well. Aside from learning about magic, he had also spent a lot of time reading the two books given to him by his father.
Both of the books were quite long, and filled to the brim with information about the history of the Ankston family. Matthew found himself enjoying all of it, especially since he had also managed to learn about the mystery he had been seeking all this while, and that was, if the Ankston family had any relation to the Beast of Darkness or not.
Matthew didn't just finish the two books his father had given him on his second day as a family member, but also read a third one. This one talked about the last ten years of the family, and how it had fallen from grace, during the war at the time.
The same war, John Cavias became known as the Fierce Lion. The war that had elevated the statue of the Cavias family inside the kingdom of Decartium. And so, Matthew felt like he knew quite a lot about the family by now.
That book, though, was missing some pages. When Matthew tried asking about them, his father replied with, "Not now, much later, I will tell you the details about those!". Matthew was very surprised by this, but had no other choice but to accept.
Matthew was questioned regularly by his father about certain facts relating to the history of the Ankston family, and more often than not, his answers were right. At the same time this was going on, he had also been taught by his mother about how to act like a noble.
His mother was first shocked to see, that he already knew quite a lot about such things. After all, his father, who had once worked as a Chief of Guards for a lowly noble, had taught him about such stuff. Of course, compared to what his current mother was teaching him, what his father taught him, was only a bit about them.
During this last month, Matthew had also started becoming closer, and closer to Olivia. At a certain time, they become quite bored with playing "It" all the time, and so, they created their own variations of the game.
They played a lot together, especially when they were visited by the Cavias family. Rosin and the Manos sisters felt a little jealous that Olivia was with Matthew the most, still, when they got to know her, they started becoming good friends with her as well.
Asvin was very amazed to see how much Matthew had progressed in his road toward becoming a great Magician, he even thought to himself, 'This boy is amazing, I have to up my momentum a little, otherwise, he will quickly surpass me when he reaches his twenties!'.
'Because, even now, when his body is still young, and he can't train all that well, he's progressing at this fast rate! I can just try to imagine how quick he will get when he's 18 years old! No, I actually don't want to know!'.
Theresia was also very astonished to see how good-looking Matthew was, after he was cleaned, and dressed properly. And so, his time, she took his measurements, and bought him something he could wear.
Since he had asked her to get him something which was blue, she had done so. After joining the Ankston family, and seeing everyone pretty much dress in blue, he also chose to wear the color blue more often, and he had even grown to like this color a lot.
Though, he was rather surprised to see that his mother had made his a red shirt. Only now, did Matthew remember the color he sought the most, it was also the color he had chosen for his surname, whenever he becomes a great Magician.
The Red Sorcerer!
Aside from all of that, he had gone to visit his friends at the orphanage four times now, and in the fourth one, he found some new workers there. He was a bit alarmed to find them wearing adventurers clothes, but, when he asked Robert, he said, "Oh! These are some guards I hired for protection, recently, there have been some mentions of a murderer going about the streets here, have you heard of him?".
Matthew didn't really trust Robert, but, he had indeed heard about these rumors. And so, for now, he ignored this matter, and instead, continued having fun with his friends.
Max had grown quite strong over this month, still, whenever she and Matthew had a small fight, she would always lose. No matter how fast she was, she could never act fast enough to avoid one of Matthew's spells.
Something that served to make her train even more. Just as promised, Matthew brought with him many sweets and presents for the kids at the orphanage, and he made sure everyone got their share, as well as, that the workers here wouldn't dare take anything away from the children.
He personally went to every worker here, and threatened them all with the same spell, Fire Bolt. His father, Nero, had heard about this, and he was very shocked to know that his heir, had such a dark side to him as well.

Olivia was a little scared by all these kids at first, she had been very obnoxious about going with him to the orphanage, yet, when they arrived there, she kept holding his arm, and didn't dare stay by herself while inside the orphanage.
She was especially scared by Max. On their first visit, she couldn't even approach her. Instead, when the 16-year-old tried talking to her, she only scared Olivia even more. After which, the girl decided to leave Olivia alone for now.
Matthew, and the group of three boys laughed hard at Max, as Tom, the second in command in the group, said, "Hahaha! Even though she was scared of me, after talking to her, she felt normal around me, and even responded to me! But with you, you can't even approach her! Hahaha!".
"I will punch all of you if you don't stop laughing!", responded the angry girl, with a huge scar on her left cheek. That night, Olivia had even mentioned about the scary girl to her mother and father during dinner.
Which made the mother ask Matthew about her, Matthew laughed hard again, before he explained. And that was everything that had happened over this month. Today, was a very special day, it was the day when all Matthew's uncles and aunts were visiting.
It was also the day when his legitimacy to the rulership of his family, would be either, confirmed, or denied, and passed on to the only challenger for the position, his cousin, who was only one year older than him.
Matthew was dressed appropriately for the day, his clothes were blue, and had the family emblem of the Ankston family on them, the black wolf's head, on their right shoulder.
Matthew had taken a bath that morning, and ate a delicious breakfast as well. He was woken up pretty early, and his magic lessons were canceled for the day. At the moment, he was with his family, waiting outside the door to their mansion.
Nero Ankston looked firm, and sure of himself, it seemed like he trusted in his son. Unfortunately, and even though Marcela Ankston also trusted her son, she was still a little worried that something would go wrong.
Over this last month, she had started viewing Matthew as her real son, and so, as every mother, of course she would be worried about him, when such a big day was coming for him.
Olivia was yawning at the moment, she didn't even understand what was really happening today. After all, she was still only three years old. The only thing she knew, was that her stupid cousin was coming.
She wanted to see him cry just like he had made her cry all these times ago, and so, she was planing to use Matthew to beat him up. Her bIg brother was very strong, she had seen him train with the weird green haired guy, and had seen how strong he was in magic, and she planned to use that to her advantage.
The family of four waited for about 10 minutes, before the gates to the mansion were opened, and several carriages, carrying the sigil of the black wolf entered. From these carriages, came many people, women, men, children. Some elderly, some young, some were even as young as Olivia.
But, among all of them, one boy stood out, he looked to be 10 or so of age. His hair was black, like was the hair of the Ankston family, instead of the golden yellow hair of the Cavias family.
This boy wore green, and his smile was one of arrogance. As soon as his feet touched the ground, his eyes had already started looking around, as if he was trying to look for a particular person.
Until finally, they stopped on someone who was already looking at him, it was another young boy, but this one wore blue, and his smile was a normal one, or, if you knew body language quite well, a fake one.
It was Matthew Ankston, as for the other boy, it was the cousin who had come to challenge his claim, he was called Dunken Ankston. The two boy's gazes met. 'Hmph! This is the boy they adopted? Well, I guess this will be an easy win for me!', thought Dunken.
Unknown to him, Matthew had just taught the same thing, but, instead of him freaking out after some seconds passed, he only looked disappointed. Matthew had taken a look at the meager amount of the One Power surrounding the boy, and was even going to laugh, but stopped himself, when his eyes met his father's.
As for the other boy, he had lost his balance, and even injured his leg in his fall. He had seen the amount of the One Power surrounding Matthew, and only then, did he truly lose his mind. He knew, he had no chance against such a monster.
His father, looked at him in shock, then quickly turned around, to see what was so shocking, only to feel the same as his son. But, it wasn't just those two, gasps could be heard all around the place, and there were even two others that had fallen to the ground.
Everyone looked at Matthew, completely ignoring everything else around, no one could believe their eyes, and how could they? Matthew felt a little anxious with all these eyes on him, still, he remembered all the preparations he had done before, and smiled, before taking one step forward.
He opened his mouth, and said, "Ladies and Gentlemen! Welcome to the main house of the Ankston family!", after he had said so, he drew the One Power toward him, and quickly, a spark of fire was ignited.
He then shot the fire up, and a small explosion happened. Matthew smiled, as he said, "I call this spell, Fireworks! I hope it was to everyone's liking!".
