Matthew was smiling with the black sword in his hands. He looked at the kid that was about 12 or so years old, before he looked at the other kids, and said, "You two, don't you want to try playing with us as well? Look!".
At the next second, two fireballs appeared in front of their faces. The both of them shrank back in fear, they looked at the fire that was burning in front of them, as one of them spoke and said, "This is... Magic, he's, a Magician, but, he's so young...how can he?".
"Anyway, that's not important, what is, is... Will you let my friend there go, or not? Choose your answer carefully!". Matthew, then, picked a potion from a small bag he was holding with him, as he said to the boy next to him, "Do you know what this is?".
"A...a healing potion, how, how can you have that? Are you, a noble as well?", asked the boy, as he became even more frightened. Matthew ignored his question, and, instead, looked at the two boys with the young noble boy, his tone remained playfull, as he said, "I will burn you, then heal you!".
His smile became that of the devil, the three could not believe what the young boy had just said. Neither could the people passing by. No one tried to interveen in this situation, especially since there was a Magician present.
"Now, you can escape that horrible feeling, if you let my friend there go! Do we have a deal, or not?". It didn't even take a second, before the two answered simultaneously, "Deal!".
In the next second, the three kids started running away. After that, some of the people walking around, started making their way toward Matthew and the other boy.
Matthew quickly ran to the noble boy, as the two fireballs, and the black sword disappeared, and returned to the One Power. He helped the boy up, and said, "C'mon, run!". With that, the two boys took the alleyway, and ran from the huge crowd that had started gathering around them.
After about three or more minutes of running, Matthew and the boy found themselves on an empty street. This place had no houses, or buildings either, and there were barely any people walking around here. There was only one house, and it looked abandoned.
"My name is Matthew! What about you? I can tell that you're from the Charlton family, but, why are you alone?", asked Matthew, as he sat on a bench close by. The other boy sat on the same bench. He smiled, and replied.
"Well, first... Thank you a lot for saving me! As for my name, it is Roden! But you can call me Rod! Nice to meet you, of course!", responded the boy named Roden. He waited for Matthew, who also waited for him.
Finally, the boy continued, "Ahm! So, I snuck out!". He took one breath, then continued, "Father didn't allow me to go out by myself, and so, with the help of a maid, I was able to sneak out! I just wanted to take a stroll around the city, but... Well... I was caught by those three, and saved thanks to you!".
Matthew looked at the boy in front of him, and couldn't help himself anymore, he started laughing out loud. Roden only looked at him in surprise and confusion, he didn't understand what was funny about what he said. 'I guess it's a bit funny, but not that much, right?', thought the young boy from the Charlton family.
The nine-year-old finally calmed himself, after a few seconds, and stared at the boy sitting next to him. Roden had brown hair, and was wearing clothing that looked rather expensive. Matthew still had a smile on his face, as he said, "Well, about that, I also seem to have snuck out! So, I just found it funny, that I saved one who was in the same situation as me!".
Roden looked at Matthew for a second, and started laughing. Matthew couldn't stop himself from following the boy, and the two laughed for over a minute at their situation. Finally, they calmed down, and Roden asked, "So, which noble family are you from? Why does your shirt not have the emblem inscribed on it? Or, are you not a noble, and instead, a merchant's son?".
"But even then, this would be too much! I mean, you can do magic? At this young age? Wait, how old are you? I am nine this year!". Matthew smiled even more, before he said, "Hah! I am also nine years old this year!".
He continued, "I can sense that this is the beginning of a great friendship, don't you? As for your first question, well, I am indeed a noble, from the Ankston family! I don't know if you heard about it, as for the emblem, it's a black wolf's head!".
"I chose the least good looking clothing I owned, to not get noticed much by everyone while walking in the city. And this one doesn't have my family emblem on it! Does that answer everything?".
Roden nodded his head, before he said, "Your ancestor... He is Aron the Great, right? The Hero of Decartium! The strongest person in the kingdom! The one that not only fought against the Beast of Darkness, but also against the Blood Count?".
Matthew looked at the boy beside him in shock. He asked in the next second, "Do you read books?".
Roden nodded his head again, "Of course I do! I don't have any friends, so there is only one thing to pass the time with. I loved reading about Aron Ankston, to think that I would be saved by one of his descendants, hah! What a funny coincidence!".
"It is, right?", said Matthew, as he smiled while thinking about this situation. "Have you read about the Lost Age? Or maybe the Battle of Hope? These are some very interesting topics I would like to discuss with someone, as well as read more about! Do you have any favorite topics?". Matthew couldn't believe that he had just found someone who actually reads books.
Rosin hated reading, and so did the Manos sisters. Actually, the same was true for all members of the Cavias family, aside from the leader. But, it wasn't like Matthew could speak to him.
There was another one as well, the Black Lion, but that guy was unapproachable.
As for his father, Nero, he didn't have the time to talk to him, because he worked for most of the day.
Now, that he had just found someone he could talk to about books, he couldn't stop asking questions.
And, he didn't have to wait much, since the answer came in the next second. Excitement could be felt in Roden's voice as he spoke, and said, "I haven't read about the Lost Age, though there is a book about it, that I've been wanting to read for a bit now!".
He continued, "As for the Black Emperor, I have read a bit about him, he seems interesting, but I like to read about the Blood Count, and the Invasion War by the Great Empire! After all, without that war, we wouldn't be here at the moment!".

Matthew nodded, and said, "I haven't read much about the Invasion War, though I do plan to do so in the future, especially since my ancestor was a vital part in it! I haven't seen it, but, is the ancestor of the Charlton also important in the war, or is it that he isn't even involved in it?".
"Oh, no... He is there, it's just that, he wasn't that important! Not as much as Aron the Great! Though, there are other very interesting stories about my family, I would recommend reading a book by the name, "The Chronicles of the Tiger", that's a great book! It talks about some very interesting topics!".
"Do you know that my family, the Charlton family, was in fact one of the first to establish a treaty with the kingdom of Al-Bark? It is also the family that helped the new royale family take over during the rebellion that happened 200 years ago!".
Matthew nodded, as he also became very excited to talk way more, but, unfortunately, that wouldn't be possible, since, both of the young boys heard a cold chuckle from the distance.
They raised their heads to look at where this chuckle had come from, and it was from a middle-aged man standing in the distance. He was wearing black, and his clothes were full of holes. He appeared to be very poor, and was holding a small dagger at the moment.
He stared at the two young boys, as though he had just found some great treasure. Matthew looked at the man, then got up from the bench, straightened his back, and said, "Mister, I advise you to continue forward, I don't want to hurt you!".
Matthew, then snapped his fingers together, as a fireball appeared next to him. The man looked very much surprised as he saw this, he said, "Hah! I didn't expect you to be a Magician! Great, this will fetch me more money, I could probably start a business with it! Heck, if I negotiate well, I might even afford a mansion for myself!".
"Just like those filthy parents of yours! Say, do you also use magic?", the man asked as he looked at Roden, who shook his head, since he didn't know how to use it. The most he could do, was gather a little of the One Power.
Matthew sighed, and thought to himself, 'This guy doesn't seem very strong, I could probably handle him. But, this will be... a very real fight! I will have to, well, hurt him!'. As he thought that, he remembered what had happened a few days prior to now.
'Hurt him, han? It's okay with this guy, right? After all, from what he's saying, he will try to sell us as slaves, dammit! Why did this have to happen? Was it a bad idea to go out without a guard by my side? Was it a bad idea to stay in this empty place?'.
The man moved in the next second, and so did Matthew. He was shocked to see the man coming forward with no hesitation, but he still stopped thinking, and fired the fireball that was floating beside him. The man avoided it swiftly, it felt like he was very much familiar with fighting a Magician.
The man was holding a dagger in his right hand, and he was speeding up toward the two boys, his target, was Matthew. The young Magician's heart thumped, and he summoned two more fireballs, which he immediately sent at the man. He also used Gust of Wind, but, aside from slowing the man a little, it had no other effect on him.
The other two fireballs were avoided as well, though one of them came pretty close to hitting the man, since he was slowed down a little by the spell, Gust of Wind. At this moment, there was barely any distance left between him and the nine-year-old.
The man stretched his right hand, and threw the dagger at Matthew. Fortunately, the young boy was prepared for such a situation, and had used a spell called, Wall of Air. He tried making it as strong as he could, which was also the reason he hadn't attacked for a few seconds now.
The air wall was destroyed, but it slowed down the dagger so much, that it barely grazed Matthew's cheek a little. Still, a bit of blood started dripping from the wound. Matthew felt a little bit of pain, but he endured it, as he thought about what spell to use next.
'Dammit! This guy is for real, he will kill me like this! I will have to up my game then!', thought the small boy, as he used Air Blade next. This spell needed a bit of time to cast, and as such, the man was only ten steps away from Matthew now.
Still, since the blade of air was invisible, the man tracked it by the One Power that surrounded it, and barely managed to avoid it again. This time, though, he was cut down a bit at his right arm. This particular spell, Air Blade, was a spell that used its speed more than its sharpness.
At the same time that all of this was going on, Roden, who stood to the side, was on his back on the ground. He was shaking from fear, but at the same time, he couldn't believe that this young boy beside him was fighting back the attacker, and had managed to delay his arrival by quite a lot.
In the shadows, behind a building in the distance, was Gleeward, the Chief of Guards for the Ankston family, he watched what was happening with a smile on his face, 'Hah! This boy is something for sure!'. He was holding a small dagger in his hands, and was aiming it at the man that was now, only five steps away from Matthew.
But, at that same second, Gleeward suddenly stopped, as he smiled, and sheathed the small dagger, before relaxing. The man was about to arrive in front of Matthew, who had just summoned the Black Sword, he didn't really know how to use it, but, he had learned a bit from Asvin, plus, this wasn't a normal sword like others.
'Dammit! Dammit!', was what Matthew had been screaming inside his mind for a few seconds now. He heard the man say with a smile on his face, "You're pretty good, boy. You've even injured me a little, you also know a lot of spells!".
The man took more steps forward, and his was so fast, that it scared Matthew a little. Of course, someone like Asvin was way faster, but, for this man to be this fast, was already something amazing. Now, there were only three steps between him and the nine-year-old. Matthew raised the black sword in his hand, as he readied himself to use it. But, in the next moment, he, the man, and even Roden, were all shocked by what happened.
Aside from the three, there was a fourth person there, he held a saber in his right hand, and that weapon was directed at the head of the man attacking the two children. This young man that had just appeared, had blonde hair.
He wore the color blue. With it, was a little emblem on the shoulder, it depicted a blindfolded person, holding a sword. Matthew immediately recognized the emblem, it belonged to one of the strongest organizations in the world.
The Court of Saviors, the organization that acted like the Police Force in the four human kingdoms inside the Rosendar continent. In this organization, people were trained in the art of swordsmanship, it was there where Asvin had gained his title as a knight.
It was also there, that the King's Power trained to reach the position he was in at the moment. And there were rumors, that at one point in time, The Shadow Assassin, was also a part of this school.
This young man spoke, as his saber touched the man's chin. He said, "You are hereby sentenced to go to prison, for the crime of trying... Well, I don't know what you were doing, but I saw you try to hurt these two kids, and, I am here to stop you!".
