Chapter 56: How do you feel?

The Black Lion carried Max on his back, as he made his way through the streets of Coupitia city, while Matthew was carried again by his big brother Vin. It didn't take the four of them much time to reach the orphanage. And of course, the Black Lion wasn't using his actual speed.

Since his mission was to make sure that the two heirs returned safely. Outside the orphanage, were many guards stationed, those guards were mixed, and some of them were talking to each other and laughing.

Some of them had the sigil of the lion, while others had the sigil of the wolf. Respectively, the Cavias, and Ankston noble families. As soon as they saw the four people that had just made it there, they made way for them, since they knew who they were.

Matthew held Max's hand, and entered the orphanage, while Asvin walked alone, beside him walked the Black Lion. Inside, Asvin asked where his father was, and he was told the canteen.

The group of four made their way there, where they found many children eating delicious food. There were some cooks whom Asvin recognized as one of their own, the same thing happened with Matthew.

The children were happily eating, and some of them even demanded seconds. On a table in the back of the canteen, three people were sitting, talking and eating. They were, John Cavias, Nero Ankston, and Gleeward.

Matthew and the rest made their way to them, once they reached them before anyone could say a thing, the nine-year-old said, "Father, can it wait for later? I have stuff to do at the moment!". Nero nodded his head, and said, "I am just relieved to see you doing well!".

With that, Matthew and Max left, and three other boys were seen following after them. Asvin took a seat, and looked at his father as he said, "I know what you're going to say, but, first, I need to tell you something!".

The Fierce Lion nodded his head and waited for his son to continue. "Ahm! This will be shocking, so be prepared, but, well, we managed to save the girl and all, and the opponent I was fighting was about to kill me, when, I was saved by him!".

The Fierce Lion looked at the Black Lion, who was still standing and keeping silent, until he heard Asvin's next words, "No, not him, another person, a stronger and evil person, the Shadow Assassin!".

Nero, who had been munching on a piece of bread, spat it out, and was about to suffocate until he drank a cup of water, his eyes could only look in shock at the young man in front of him, he couldn't comprehend what he had been just told.

John Cavias looked at his son, even he, the man with a cold expression most of the time, was greatly shocked by this, there was a surprise in his eyes. He took a small breath, then said, "You're sure about his identity?".

The Black Lion finally spoke, as he said, "It was him!". The Fierce Lion nodded, as he looked at his son once more, "Hmm! Being saved by that guy, and even let go, did he say what he was doing there?".

"Yes, he said his mission was already taken care of by me and Matt, I don't understand what he means by that, but, that's all he said, he asked about how you were doing and did the same about you as well, Glee!".

Gleeward hadn't said a word yet, and his eyes showed shock just like the others, he remembered his time during the Court of Saviors, he had been there for many years, even before the war started ten years ago, and so, he had the famous person, and even trained with him for a little.

He said, "At that time, he was like the Blue Lightening is now, to the Court of Saviors, but, he was way more talented and stronger, he was also the quickest person, and even has that record inside the Court of Saviors, he is said to be able to kill people in the ninth star if we're talking about the power system of the Black Tower!".

"And, this is one of the things that made him very famous, but he, once, escaped an emperor! His mission was to assassinate that guy, but, since it was an emperor, a being in the tenth star, just like the Dark Crow, his mission failed!".

"But, instead of being killed by the emperor, he was able to flee away, an event that made him very famous, since even a ninth star have difficulties fleeing emperors! The emperor in question here is the Mother of Spiders!".

Everyone could only listen while Gleeward talked, after all, he was the one who knew the most about this guy, the Shadow Assassin. Of course, the Black Lion knew even more, but, since he didn't want to reveal his real identity, as the person that failed to assassinate the King's Power, he couldn't say a thing.

The Fierce Lion nodded his head, as he said, "Did he say the name of his new organization or anything about it? Did he say anything to you or Matthew?". The Black Lion was the one to respond, as he said.

"No, he didn't want to reveal a thing about his new organization, the most he said about it, was that we would know in a few years, he said it isn't ready yet!". Nero could only sigh, as he said, "It isn't ready yet? It's already been two, no, now, it is very close to three years since he started it!".

"And he says it still isn't ready? Just what is he trying to do here? And, why did he save you, what was his mission? To kill that noble? Why, though, isn't he retired from the job of assassination, he hasn't been in the Crow of Death for a long time now!".

"Well, the assassination that made him known as an evil guy in the kingdom, was after he wasn't a part of that group of killers, but, what motive would he have, and why was it this exact noble?", said Gleeward, unsure of what to think.

Asvin couldn't help but ask the Beast, he said, "How was he, during your time in the Court of Saviors? Was he always a bad guy?". The Beast, smiled a sad smile, as he said, "No, he was never that type of guy, he was the opposite instead!".

"A nice guy that liked helping the new guy, me, at that point, he hated bullying, and was always there to mediate when fights occurred, so, it is very hard for me to imagine him being the same guy, the Shadow Assassin!".

"Well, after that, he joined one of the evilest organizations in the world, the assassin group, called, the Crows of Death, wherever they go, crows follow!", said Nero, as he sighed again, he couldn't think of a reason for that guy to be there.

Finally, The Fierce Lion said, "Well, let us not think about it more, tomorrow, the death of the noble you killed, will be announced to the kingdom, we have to wait and see how that is handled!".

Inside one of the kids' rooms in the orphanage, Matthew, Max, and the three boys were sitting. Tom gulped, as he asked, "So, are you okay, Max?". Max felt tears dropping from her eyes at that moment.

She remembered what she had gone through this entire day, she couldn't really reply to the boy now, her body started shivering, as she remembered holding the dagger in her hands, and remembered how she could have been killed by those ice spears.

She remembered killing that man, how she had easily taken his life, by severing his head, she didn't know how to feel about it, when she thought about this for a moment, she felt sick, she had ended his life, there would be no more of that guy.

She didn't think that he didn't deserve it, after all, he had made her experience one of the worst days she ever had in her life until now, but, it still left her feeling bad. Furthermore, she didn't feel good about it either, she just felt empty.

But, she did feel that what she did was right, if she didn't kill him, and somehow, he survived the others -Matthew, and Asvin- then he would have returned to take revenge on her, as well as Matthew and Asvin.

But, not just that, that man had told her, he told her that he had done the same to many children and that she would be a new addition to his collection since she was legally adopted by him at that moment.

She knew that he had to be stopped, and even though she didn't feel good about killing him, she still felt that it was necessary, "His blood belonged to the Vampires for what he had done!", the 16-year-old thought.

She wanted to kill all those other evil people, Tom had once been taken to an old woman who used him as well, and after that night, he became afraid of old women. And at one time, one nice old lady came to give presents to the children, and the only one who refused to even look at her was Tom.

That was all because of what happened to him, Max wasn't afraid of men, because she knew that people were different, so she didn't react like Tom, but she still suffered, she didn't want anyone to go through the same thing, especially those who would end up like Tom.

Scared of a type of people, because of a horrible experience. And that's why, she made it her new goal, to stop children from having to suffer through such things. She cried for an hour, as Matthew and the other three boys hugged her and stayed with her.

She finally calmed down, as she said, "Umm! Was that the Shadow Assassin who appeared there?". Matthew nodded his head, then looked at the group of four, as he said, "But, it would be best if you tell no one about this, after all, who knows what would happen if you do!".

The group of four nodded their head together. Matthew then continued, "Ahm! So, this is just my theory, in other words, I could be totally wrong, but, I think the Shadow Assassin might still be working for the Crows of Death! After all, he was there to kill the noble!".

Max said, "I don't think that's true, I think the opposite, he...he might have been there to kill him because of personal reasons!". 'Well, I don't know, I do want to know though!', thought Matthew.

Some time passed after that, and Matthew finally went to see his father. Nero gave him a stern look, as he said, "Before we talk about "that", first, how is your friend doing? Is she okay?".

Matthew replied, "It feels like it, she was able to even joke with me a little, but, that was after she cried for what felt like an hour, she seems like she can get through this, I know that, because she has done it before, multiple times, though, this time was harder!".

"The man was about to take her away, not just...and, she even killed a person for the first time! So...", but, before the nine-year-old could finish, his father raised a hand to stop him, as he said, "I was told by Asvin, that you also...", Nero hesitated for a second, before he said, "Killed someone!".

Matthew froze at that statement, he had forgotten or tried to forget, the person he had killed, Robert, the man in normal clothes, he had seen both Asvin, and Max kill others, actually, he even saw the Shadow Assassin kill someone.

And the one he had killed, he had burned alive, and so, was able to hear him scream the entire time until nothing but black ash was left behind. Matthew felt weird, that he didn't really feel bad, or even disgusted by what he had done.

He also didn't feel that it was wrong of him to do so, after all, Robert had committed crimes that deserved the death penalty, if he hadn't killed him here, he would have been sent to the vampires' kingdom.

And so, why let others deliver the punishment, especially since at that moment, Matthew didn't even know if Max was alive? He truly felt like what he did was just, and unlike Max, who felt the same about what she did, he also didn't feel that killing was bad, while the girl did.

Max knew that it had to be done, but she didn't want to do it, to just end someone's life, while Matthew was prepared to do it, he didn't go all the way to enjoying it, but he couldn't lie and say that he didn't feel satisfied hearing Robert's screams.

Instead of the kids screaming like what happened in Matthew's first year at the orphanage, it was the guy making them scream, who screamed this time.

Matthew replied to his father, as he said, "It had to be done! And so, I did it! Anyway, what will happen to the orphanage now?".

Nero could only look at his nine-year-old son, he didn't know what to feel, what the boy said was correct, but, Matthew was, after all, still a kid, and for him to think this way already, was it bad, or good? Nero couldn't tell.
