Chapter 2: 1 We’re back?

Huh?

Coming to my senses, I realized that I was in a dark room.

"Wait, who the fuck are you?!" The voice of a man that sounded so familiar came in front of me.

I stared up at the man only to see a blurry silhouette of him.

Attempting to stand up and clear my head. Keyword 'attempted' as the man kicked me in the stomach for absolutely no reason.

Although it did no damage, it did knock me back a bit.

As my vision cleared up, I took a good look at him.

Instantly, rage fueled me.

As my expression contorted to an ugly glare, I lunge at him and grabbed a hold of his neck, knocking him to the ground.

Immediately I started to pummel him in the face.

"AARGH!" He let out a pathetic cry. He started to hit me back but it had no effect and I continued to mercilessly punch his head.

He eventually stopped moving which inturn also cooled me down.

I took a couple deep breaths and look down to him. His face was all bloody and heavily disfigured from my fist.

"Honey? How long are yo-" a woman started but ended with a scream.

I turn my head to the side to see her with her hands cupped up together on her mouth.

She stared at me in shock before her neck twisted a full 180 degrees and her lifeless body fell to the side.

"Wow~ you really aren't afraid anymore" a seductive voice came from behind me. I stood up and turned around with glee.

It was Yui, her smooth and silky white hair which looks like snow on a winter night and her beautiful pale skin which match well with her ruby eyes.

"Yui!" I lunge at her and wrapped her in a tight hug.

Thank god, I thought I lost her.

"Yeah, it's me" she confirmed with a smile and returned my hug.

"So what's the date?"

"Fourth of October 2015"

"I see... so about a year before the meteor strikes"

We decided to hang around at Yui's place since mine was pretty much an abandoned home.

And Yui's home is basically a mansion and her room is that of an average spoiled rich girl.

The man is still alive too, I held back quite a bit when I pummeled the shit out of him. After all, I don't want him to die a simple death like that, after all that torture he subjected me to, he's going to suffer a painful death.

"Hey, since the apocalypse will start in a year let's write everything we know about it"

Thinking it was a good idea we summarized the things that's going to happen.

On this day the next year, a giant meteor will hit Nagano and caused 100 000 casualties.

Four days later the corpses and those injured near the meteor started to reanimate and turn into monsters we know as 'patterns'

We call them patterns because they change their pattern of hunting every three days, from hunting in groups, hunting alone, baiting humans by having a lone pattern being in the middle of nowhere and then ambushing, and staying in dark places.

Despite looking like rotten corpses, they are really strong and durable, as one average pattern can smash a car into pieces. 

These patterns can also evolve and we simply call them 'evolved patterns'. They evolve by consuming enough humans or theres a slim chance of them evolving every week. These patterns gain a significantly greater boost in strength and get different abilities.

These abilities can range from getting boxing techniques, knife hands, parkour skills and becoming a giant. Hell, one pattern we fought could even control gravity, but that was like 60 years into the apocalypse.

Humans could also evolve, we call ourselves 'awakened'. Awakeneds appeared shortly after the patterns, they will have similar capabilities as a pattern and gain a random power.

Humans can also awaken by consuming cores. Cores are the most important part of the patterns, as that's where their source of power come from and if removed or destroyed it instantly dies.

Once consumed it will turn normal humans into awakened and awakened slightly stronger, and I mean slightly. Oh and it increase our lifespan by three years.

You can also get more powers, first by becoming an awakened and then consuming 1000 cores, the amount of cores you'll have to consume is increased by a tenfold once you get that new power.

Normal pattern's cores are rough and small, while evolved has a more refined shape and bigger size. However there's absolutely no difference between them as they are still worth the same amount of cores.

These powers are also really random they can range from gaining a simple skill and anybody can get if they train hard enough, like fighting techniques and riding a bike, the other are just random superpowers, fire breathing, telekinesis, plant manipulation and invisibility.

There's three categories for these powers, dogshit, decent and godly.

Dogshit powers are just those that can't or barely affect evolved patterns and awakened humans. Like fire breathing for example, it sounds good on paper and is maybe pretty good in the beginning since there's just normal humans and patterns, but it will be a waste later on when there's more evolved patterns and awakened humans.

Decent powers are ones that are effective against both evolved and awakened. Like telekinesis, cyrokinesis, hydrokenises, electokinises and other such offensive powers.

Godly powers are ones that are super effective against evolved and awakened. Time stopping, energy manipulation, atom manipulation and power negation.

These categories are purely based on offensive capabilities, so even if the powers has other super useful utilities, but it's not effective against evolved and awakened? Then it's dogshit.

So when gaining a power you just have to be very lucky. Me and Yui got super lucky with our abilities.

I've got telekinesis, cyrokinesis and illusions. Telekinesis and cyrokinesis are both super good powers, while illusions did absolutely nothing against patterns, it was pretty effective against humans though.

Yui got time manipulation, power sense, levitation and earth manipulation. Time manipulation is self-explanatory and a fucking cheat, power sense is super useful since it can detect both evolved and awakened powers, levitation is eh and earth manipulation is super good.

'Well that's enough writing for today' I thought and stretched my arms above my head.

"A opening!" Yui childishly exclaimed and dove right onto my chest, knocking me down and nuzzled it.

Before I could even enjoy the feeling she was already gone. I sat back up and see her on the bed reading through what I wrote.

"Y'know thus is pretty good material for a novel or book" she voiced her thoughts out loud.

I thought about it and agreed with her. 

"Hey" Oh no "Let's make a novel!" "Why?" She declared, eyes filled with excitement.

"So we can make those scenarios we usually see in manwhas where the novel becomes reality!" She explained.

"Plus, this could help some of the humans survive" she continued.

"OK, bu-" I started only to be cut off by her.

"I'll get started on it!" With that last remark she was gone.

Alrighty then, guess we'll make a novel which I never agreed to.
