Chapter 18: Chapter 17: visiting mother

I am now back in my room. I will not be seeing my parents this evening, as they have their own duties to attend to. So I prepare for bed. No more plushies or pink pyjamas with rabbits on them for me. Well, they were cute though.

 

While laying down in my new comfortable large bed, in my new bedroom, I focus on my mother Ima. 

I have to be careful not to fall asleep. I feel warm and cosy. 

 

Then I feel a tug in my stomach, I open my eyes, but don't see anything. Must be my imagination. 

Then I focus on mother again, then the tug appears again. A strong pull then forces me to open my eyes again.

 

I am not in my bed anymore, in front of me is mother Ima. A table is standing ready in a green, well maintained garden. Tea and cookies are there as well. I can't stop a smile from forming as I say "Hi mom". 

 

Shen then embraces me, "hello honey, welcome home. You did well, coming here all on your own. And you behaved well today, I am proud of you. The way you handled your new servant is excellent!"

 

"You were watching me all the time?"

 

"No.....not all the time. Can't a mother look at her daughter's wellbeing now and then?"

 

"Sure mom, I was only kidding. I am happy to be here and although I was surprised to learn that I am now a princess too."

 

"Oh honey, you are welcome. But trust me, there are some more surprises waiting for you. Now, let's get to the point. I really want some quality mother-daughter time, however, I don't have that luxury at the moment. You are here to learn about some important things before you can start in my temple. And I need you to start soon. Do you have any questions so far?"

 

"Well, I was wondering, we are Kitsune. My sister is a wolf-kin. Are there also cat people?"

Mother facepalms and rolls her eyes. "That is the first thing you ask? Yes honey, there are cats, bear people, wolf people. Ugh, I should call them cat-kin, not cats, but I don't really like them."

Within a few days, people will depend on your capabilities. You will be their princess and their head-priestess, but only few know you are a demi-goddess too. That is why you are perfect for this role. 

 

Your role in the coming events was agreed with other deities. I fully trust in your capabilities, that is why you were tested after all. Sorry I could not inform you sooner, but we were not sure this event would happen. But it will happen soon.

While information about things like ancient forms, divine healing magic, temple duties, history of Mirai, religion and basic diplomacy are downloaded into my soul, my world goes black again..
