"This is the most delicious french toast that I have ever tasted!" She said as she cleaned off her plate. She was thinking if it would be too much if she just licks it instead. But Daniel is just an arm away from her, that wouldn't be a pretty sight huh? 'Maybe next time.' She thought. It was only a simple breakfast but because Daniel made it, of course, she loved it.
He chuckled at her child-like expression, he softly patted her head, happy that she finished everything that he made for her. Samantha is just too adorable sometimes and he likes that he gets to see every side of her, the good or even the bad ones.
"What time are you leaving today?" He asked, a hint of reluctance evident in his voice. It was the weekend and Samantha was going to attend her high school reunion later that evening.
She had actually changed her mind in the middle of the week and told Hannah that she will not be going but just then, she received a call from an unknown number and when she picked it up, it was their class president.
She had been chosen as a speaker for the opening of the event and she thought that she would seem petty if she refused the request. So after thinking about it for a moment, she accepted the invitation.
When she told Daniel about her decision, he was hesitant at first. But he figured that he can't really keep her from going as it would not be fair to her. so after thinking thoroughly, he agreed even if he was reluctant. Instead, he planned to add more security around her.
"You don't want me to go?" She replied with another question when she noticed the way he looked at her as if she was not coming back home.
Daniel held himself back from telling her no. Even if it was what he wanted, he couldn't tell her that.
Ever since he learned there was someone who was after Samantha, he had not stopped looking for that man. With the help of Lucas and Sean, they had exhausted resources just to find this person but not even a single lead was found. It was as if he never existed.
What if Sung Nan had just made up the story? But why would he do that? What benefit does he have for making that up? And it would not make sense where he had gotten the money from. He had planned to visit him again but when they requested for a visit, he refused to see him without any explanation.
Recalling everything that Sung Nan said, it was obvious that he did not know anything else so Daniel no longer bothered with him.
"Daniel?" She called. "You don't have to worry about me. Someone is looking out for me all the time anyway, right?" She asked nonchalantly, picking up her cup of coffee and taking a sip.
"Huh?" His head turned abruptly, surprised by her sudden question. "What did you say?"
"Oh come on, honey. Don't think that I would not notice that you got me a bodyguard for a while now who is following me wherever I go?" She said confidently, a smile formed on her face. "Tall man, looks like a soldier, tanned skin?"
'Yeah, that's Logan.'
Daniel watched her as she looked at him with teasing eyes, the corners of her lips curled and he chuckled to himself, running a hand on his face. "When did you find out?"
"I don't remember… maybe several days ago?"
He contemplated what he was going to say next. He was not sure how she felt about it, but why did she not tell him that she already knew?
"Are you mad?" He stared into her eyes, wanting to catch everything her eyes wanted to say. But all he got was a gentle expression, a sweet smile offered to him making his heart throb.
"Yes… I mean no…" She sighed, "Yes, I was at first but then I realized that you just wanted to keep me safe. I'm still a little annoyed that you did not tell me but I know you only have good intentions." She clarified as she stood up and then sat on his lap, his arms readily encircled her waist — liking the gesture that she initiated. "I would have preferred that you told me about it first though."
"You're very unpredictable."
"How so?"
"Sometimes, you are very stubborn and other times, you are very reasonable." He pinched her side playfully.
"Aw! Stop it." She giggled as it tickled her more than it hurt. "Which one do you prefer? The stubborn me or the reasonable me?"
He reached his hand to cup the side of her face and drew it close to him, kissing her lips tenderly. "Both, I love both." He kissed her once more and hugging her tight.. "And I love you."
