Handing Devyn Nam over to Lavro Yanovich was Daniel's plan. He had let her suffer to weaken her immune system so that he could use the drug that she herself invented on her. The drug that caused her hallucination as well as generalized and intractable pruritus1.

When Gael got inside the car, the driver started right away, leaving the abandoned building.

Sean who was sitting at the front seat and Daniel sitting at the back looked at Gael and waited for him to say something. They heard the entire conversation through the audio just earlier. Gael breathed out and slumped on the rest as he turned to Daniel.

The two handsome gentlemen exchanged stares for a few seconds before they flashed their cunning smile. They seemed to have come to a mutual understanding even without saying anything.

"Take us back to the villa," Gael ordered his driver and their car sped off.

An old man sitting on a luxurious armchair in his living room was leisurely enjoying his excellent quality cigar. He had servants left and right and he was then watching a news report of a foreign country.

Shortly, a group of men entered the living room with Zevrick leading them. "Master," he walked forward and bowed.

"Where is it?" Lavro Yanovich asked right away without looking at his right-hand man, his hand extending out as if he was asking for something.

Zevrick swallowed audibly, making Lavro turn his head to the former's direction. "Master, I don't have it with me. Mr. De Luca refused to hand-"

*SMACK*

Lavro slapped Zevrick without second thoughts. Nobody flinched. It was like they were used to seeing that kind of scene.

"I'm sorry, Master. It's my fault for being so lacking." Zevrick stated.

The old man got up from the chair and turned to face the window. "You only needed to do one thing and you could not even do it?"

The slap that he received caused his cheek to burn but he ignored the throbbing pain and replied, "Mr. De Luca insisted on seeing you. He said that he won't accept the transaction unless he will see you personally."

Zevrick left out the matter about the cargo that he still owed to Gael. If Lavro would find out about what happened in Country A, he would definitely be in big trouble. Even if the old man trusted him, one mistake could be very troublesome and knowing that Lavro Yanovich holds grudges, he did not dare mention the past event.

Lavro turned around and walked towards Zevrick. "He wanted to see me?"

"Yes, Master."

"What's his agenda?"

"Mr. De Luca only told me that since I don't own the necklace, he refused to give it to me." Zevrick relayed.

"He said that?" Lavro probed, raising a brow. "This young man De Luca seems to have sense."

"What do we do, Master?"

After thinking it through for a minute, Lavro responded. "Very well then, I will meet with De Luca to retrieve that jewelry. Prepare to meet with him in two days."

"Understood." Zevrick's eyes darted to the side as if he was thinking. Before arriving at their safehouse, he had already briefed his men to keep their mouths shut. Thinking that his master did not need to know about how he got the doctor in his hands, he decided to lie that one bit. "Master, there's something I wanted to show you."

Yanovich waited for Zevrick to continue.

Signaling his men to bring their captive forward, Zevrick had an evil smile on his face as he gestured towards Yanovich. "This is my present to you, Master." He spoke eagerly.

Yanovich's brows knitted when he saw what looks like a woman being dragged to his feet. "A present?" He doubted. 'What kind of present looked like this?' The woman was all bloody and full of scratches all over.

Knowing that his master would probably not recognize Devyn, he asked his men to reveal her face and when Yanovich saw the woman, his eyes widened.

"I know that Master has been searching for her for a long time and so while I was working on our shipments, I asked around and found some leads. I searched until I found her today. Although she is in this condition… I hope that you appreciate my efforts." Zevrick shamelessly admitted that it was thanks to him that they found Devyn.

Lavro laughed and patted Zevrick's back as he complimented, "You did a great job. Your efforts are not wasted. Claim your bonus. It's for you and your men." He was furious just a while ago but the gift that his subordinate brought for him cured it.

Zevrick was elated to hear his master's praise. He even received a bonus? He was then sure that his men would keep their secret.

Lavro kicked Devyn to wake her up. Stirring, Devyn opened her eyes and was again shrieking in agony. She could no longer make out what was happening to her. Her mind was muddled and she started to writhe, frustrated that she could not scratch herself anymore because her hands were tied together.

"What is wrong with her?" The old man wondered why her screams were like that. They could not even understand her noises. She making sounds from her mouth but was inaudible.

"She's already like this when we found her. And upon checking…" Zevrick was still irked by the thought of it when he was reminded of how they saw her earlier when they checked her. "... it seems that her tongue has been cut. That's why she can no longer talk."

"Someone cut her tongue?"

"Looking at how it was damaged. It looks like she bit her own tongue."

Lavro wondered what happened to her to reach that state but he was not showing any concern at all.

"Take her away," he ordered his men to tie her up and place her in an empty room. The old man planned to continue torturing Devyn just so he could be satisfied. He could not let go of someone who had betrayed him. Therefore, he could already foresee that Devyn will die in his hands.

While they were busy with all of that, they failed to know that Daniel did not only intend to give Devyn to Yanovich just like that.

Back at the villa where Gael, Daniel, and Sean were staying, the three of them huddled in the living room. There was a computer on the coffee table and a software application was running on it. Using the program, they could hear everything that was happening at Lavro's safehouse within several meters from where Devyn was being held.

Apart from the audio, there was a red blinking dot on the screen where they could see the location of where they brought Devyn.

This was Daniel's idea. He knew that Yanovich was an old man who bears grudges and that if they would hand Devyn to him, they will surely find his location.

With Gael's cooperation, he provided the listening bug and installed it in an inconspicuous spot. The bug could also not be detected, making their plan flawless.

"That good for nothing bastard… he dared to take credit for that doctor? How shameless." Sean commented as they listened.

"Ignore him. What's important is that, because of his carelessness, we now know where Yanovich is." Daniel started. "We need to prepare for the next step."

"I agree. Just like what they say, strike while the iron is hot." Gael swirled the wine in his hand and tipped it a bit to Daniel's direction before he down it all in one go.

Daniel also slightly raised the wine glass in hand and glanced at Sean before he stared at the computer screen. He was imagining the scenario in his head while also wishing that everything will finally be over soon.
