After a whole day of waiting, Samantha finally went back home. But just like yesterday, there was still no news about Daniel. She had just finished putting Ash to sleep when she thought about calling Lucas. However, when she dialed his number, she couldn't contact him either.

She worried a lot and she was feeling very uncomfortable about what was going on. She felt helpless and had wished that she should have gone with him. She should have forced him to take her with him when he left. She couldn't help but start blaming herself then.

When Daniel had business trips before, he would always make sure to tell Samantha his whereabouts. But this time, he didn't go on a business trip. He was away because he had to protect his family, make sure they will be safe, risking his life in the process. But it was something that he needed to do.

Her loneliness became unbearable that she decided to go out of the room after making sure that Ashton was comfortable. She went to the lounge downstairs to give herself a drink.

The room had only one yellow light on when Samantha came. She poured herself a shot of whiskey; a drink that she didn't even like very much but since it was what Daniel drank most of the time, then she wanted to have some for her. She brought the glass with her to the sofa and sat.

The air was cool that night but the fireplace at the side kept her warm... and it was a good thing that she wore pajamas and cardigan to cover herself up.

The crackling of the firewood and the light rain outside was her background music. Smelling the drink, she took a sip and grimaced but she kept it down before she placed the glass on the table.

"Hey… what are you doing here all alone?" Seo Joon appeared in the lounge area, he had just finished taking a shower and he was on his way to the kitchen to grab some water when he noticed the light. Since Samantha stayed at their estate for the meantime, her brother decided to stay there as well.

Samantha only slightly smiled at him before she lowered her gaze at her mobile phone on the table.

Seo Joon sat down next to his sister and observed. He felt bad for her because of her situation and as her brother, he wanted to do something. Unfortunately, there was not much that he could do.

Samantha looked pitiful that night, she had not slept very well the past few days and she had been constantly worrying.

"Joon…"

"Mhmm?"

"What if… something happened?" She asked the question that she dreaded to ask. She was hopeful at first but the more that she waited, the more that she felt that something was not right. Her heart had not been calm since. Even while she was out, she was still very much worried.

"What are you saying? It's Daniel that we're talking about here…"

Turning her head to face him, Samantha's mouth curved downwards. "But it's been days… not a word… I-"

"It's only been days, Dopey… Don't you trust him?"

"I do but I can't help it, Joon. I'm very worried! If something happened to him, I don't know what I'd do…" A tear fell from her eye and her brother wiped it right away. "I can't live without him."

Seo Joon reached out his hand and patted his sister's hair gently. She flopped onto his side and leaned on to him, trying to calm her troubled heart but it was just so damn hard.

"Remember when we were kids... You were five and you used to cry a lot when mom and dad went on a trip?"

Samantha nodded, unsure where her brother's story was going.

"I was scared back then too…"

"You were?"

"Yeah... I was afraid that they would be gone for a long time. I even wanted to cry once too but I saw you crying one night when I went to your room." Seo Joon made a small smile and continued. "You looked very sad and I… didn't like seeing you sad."

"I remember… I asked you to sleep beside me because I was scared and so you did." Samantha reminisced their childhood days. "You even sang a song for me."

"I did, didn't I?" He chuckled. "That was because I saw mom singing a song for you one time. So I thought I'd do the same. And… it actually worked because you did fall asleep."

"Mhmm…" Samantha closed her eyes and called, "Joon…"

"Yes?"

"Can you sing for me?"

Seo Joon had not sung a song for his sister for a very long time. And unlike Samantha, Seo Joon doesn't really sing… but because it was for her, he was willing to do anything.

"Hmmm…" He thought of what song he should try until one song came to his mind. It was one of the songs that they used to listen to when they were teenagers.

"Look at the stars

Look how they shine for you

And everything you do

Yeah, they were all yellow…"

Samantha continued to lean against her brother while he softly sang the song to her. Just when he finished the chorus, Samantha called him again while her eyes were still closed. "Joon…"

"Yeah?"

"You suck."

Seo Joon threw his head back and laughed. His chest rumbled and his laugh was contagious that the two of them laughed some more. The truth was, Seo Joon was not a bad singer — he was average. And Samantha liked that he sang for her because it truly made her feel better. That was why she teased. "Keep going… I like to listen some more."

And so he did. Seo Joon sang a little more until Samantha fell asleep. He then carried her to her room and laid her on the bed carefully. "Jeez how did you become this big?" He muttered to himself.

Samantha slept like a baby that night. Probably her body was already very tired that it finally demanded some sleep. Her sleep was calm and dreamless… and for some reason, she was very comfortable. She shifted a few times in her sleep but was able to find her most comfortable position when she found warmth.

She suddenly woke up early in the morning when she felt the shine enter her room; it was no longer dark.

Samantha stirred a little and a soft moan escaped from her lips when she felt the pleasant warmness on her shoulder. She was a bit disoriented when she tried to open her eyes, unsure of what happened before she woke up.

When her eyes fluttered open, she was immediately drawn to look forward and the sight in front of her caused her heart to ache. Her lips trembled at the same time that her heart throbbed and not even a second later, she had already burst out crying.

She was pulled in someone's arms… a warm hand stroked her back as lips pressed on her forehead. "Shhh… it's okay. I'm here… I'm home."

Samantha felt like she became very vulnerable at that time and she did not know what else to do but cry. And all the man did was soothe her, patiently patting her hair as he said, "It's over… it's over now, my love. It's finally over."

She couldn't believe that she finally woke up to see Daniel next to her. She was so emotional that all her worries went away, leaving a tiny feeling of fear. Fear that it was just a dream and that she might wake up alone.

"What took you so long?" She lightly hit his chest to express her disappointment.

"Ugghh." He grunted, his brows furrowed like he was in pain. "Don't do that..."

That was on when Samantha noticed that he was wearing an arm sling; Daniel was injured.

Samantha's eyes grew wide. "Oh my god, what happened to you?" She began to worry again but Daniel pulled her back to his embrace and calmed her down. "I'm fine now, don't worry. Just... let me hold you a little longer. I missed you like crazy."

Samantha leaned into his embrace, savoring the warmth that she missed so dearly.
