"I can't and I don't want to.", she answered quickly.
He breathed heavily before he tried to speak again, "I just want to talk you, I promise I won't do anything."
Samantha knew him too well, and the look that he had on at that moment was actually sincere. At first, she wanted to ignore him but there was just something about Andrew that made her heart feel a sense of familiarity. Despite what he did, yes; they did date for 7 months.
"If you want to talk, then talk right here. Say what you have to say.", she said very firmly.
Seeing that he doesn't have a choice, Andrew just nodded his head and spoke, "I'm… I'm sorry, Sam. I know- I know that sorry isn't going to cut it. But I did do something terrible to you, and for that, I want to ask your forgiveness."
Samantha didn't say anything, she doesn't feel any hatred towards him anymore. For her, Andrew's already a thing in the past that she couldn't be bothered with. "Anything else?"
"Sam, I want us to try again. Will you accept me?", he proposed.
Her brows furrowed a little and she didn't know how to respond to the man in front of her. 'What is going on in that brain of yours, Andrew?'
"Sam?"
"Andrew, you and I… are impossible. I have to go.", she answered before turning away from him. She got into her car and drove away leaving Andrew feeling so desolated behind.
...
Samantha arrived at the Busy Bean Cafe, she and Hannah were having lunch and they talked about Andrew's visit earlier.
"How dare he appear in front of you again? And What? He wants to try it again?", Hannah complained. She drank her orange juice and continued, "I thought he was dating Nancy? Also, even if he wasn't how could he ask you after what he did? How shameless is he?"
Samantha just shrugged. She didn't want to talk about Andrew anymore so she changed the subject, "So, Han… when are you planning to tell me?"
Hannah's brow raised, "Tell you about what?"
"Oh come on, I'm not blind Han. You obviously like my brother.", Samantha said with a sly smile.
Her best friend swallowed and didn't respond. Her heart started to race, 'Weren't we just talking about Andrew? How did it suddenly switch from that to me liking Seo Joon?'
"Han, it's okay… you can tell me anything. I won't judge and I don't mind."
Hannah sighed a big one, she supported her chin with her hand lazily as she focused her gaze to the passing cars outside the window. She couldn't look at Samantha, she was too embarrassed to do so. "Fine, yes. I do like Joon."
Samantha didn't say anything, she already knew this bit because it was already very obvious. What she doesn't understand is why the two of them are being so awkward to each other and they even seem to hate each other's presence now. She waited for Hannah to continue her confession.
"But I don't think it's gonna work between us, S. We're too stubborn for each other. Besides, I think he's already seeing someone.", she uttered.
Samantha had a surprised expression, "What do you mean he's seeing someone? He didn't tell me anything."
Her best friend shrugged and continued, "Well, I saw him with a very attractive woman, they were having lunch together."
Samantha tried to appease her obviously hurting best friend, "You don't know if they're dating. What if she was just a friend? You can't jump to conclusions like that."
"But we haven't talked for a while S, every time we're in the same room, we either argue or ignore each other."
"See that's the problem, why are you both acting like kids? You're both grown-ups. Just talk about whatever misunderstanding you two have.", Samantha chided.
"Even if I do that, what then? It's not like he likes me too."
"How do you know if he doesn't? If he's also affected, then there's something. You really need to talk."
Hannah thought about it before she spoke again, "You really think so? Is that even possible, S? Me and Joon? Wouldn't that be weird?"
Samantha laughed, "Why would it be weird? You're not related! You're just friends."
"And if ever… you'll be okay with it?", she questioned.
"Of course, I love my brother, and I love you. I'd be very happy for both of you if you end up together."
The corners of Hannah's mouth lifted up slightly.
"So are you going to confess?", Samantha urged.
Hannah was slightly taken aback, "What? Now?"
"What's wrong with now? There's no time like the present! Come on, let's go shopping.", Samantha stood up and dragged Hannah with her.
Hannah was really surprised, she was used to be the one who forces Samantha to go out and do some shopping. Who would've thought that the day would come when she was the one being dragged towards the shopping center?
When they arrived at the mall, Samantha sprinted like they were in a marathon. She was very excited to play dress up with her best friend and she doesn't know where this excitement came from.
"This is ridiculous, S! I don't need to do this.", she complained after Samantha brought her inside a salon.
"Just shush, Hannah Chu!", Samantha talked to the stylist and told her what she wanted for Hannah.
After about an hour of getting dolled up, Hannah was looking very pretty. She's already pretty but the hairstyle that she had on really suited her face and she looked so vibrant. With her hair slightly curled, it fell onto her shoulders smoothly. She didn't have heavy make up on, just very light tones of neutral colors and it made her look even more beautiful. And her dress also complimented her body.
It was almost 5 in the afternoon when Samantha drove towards her father's company. In the elevator, Hannah became very nervous. She was feeling especially tensed and she doesn't know why.
"S, I-I don't think I can do this today... Let's just g-go home.", she stammered.
Samantha looked at her best friend and sighed, "Okay Han, if you don't want to then don't but we're already here. Let's just invite him out for dinner."
Opening the door of Seo Joon's office, Samantha announced their arrival with a smile, "Hey Joon, we're-", she stopped mid-sentence because of what she witnessed inside her brother's office.
Becca Wise was in his office, and in front of his desk, she and Seo Joon were kissing.
Samantha didn't know what to do, "Oh God, I - I.. I'm sorry, I didn't knock."
Her brother and Becca turned their heads towards the door and immediately stepped back, her cheeks flushed of embarrassment.
"Hey, Sammy...", he looked over to the beautiful woman beside her and his brows crunched up a little, "Uh... Hannah."
"Sis come..", Seo Joon looked at his sister again and smiled, "Sam, I'd like you to meet Becca."
