And now, Serina was bugged with this new line of thoughts running in circles inside her head. Because she has a dragon spirit herself and can even transform into a dragon hundreds of years later, she wouldn't be surprise if Nicholas would indeed turn to be a werewolf. As long as he won't hurt her, that's all that matters.
But with this new possibility, Serina felt even more bothered. Her predecessor placed a cursed on the Luna of Blue Moon Pack just because his mate was a she-wolf and not the dragon bearer. 'Will things happen again? If he really turns out to be a werewolf and has a she-wolf mate, what am I supposed to do?' she asked herself while lying on her bed, staring at the ceiling as if it was the most interesting thing in the world right this moment.
'Wait? Why am I even asking such thing? I'm not even in love with him?'
'You are not?'
Serina argued with herself if she was really in love with Nicholas because if she is, it only means trouble.
These thoughts didn't disappear even when she was having lunch with him. Nicholas looked for her over an hour ago to invite her for lunch. Now, they're sitting face to face with their food on the table between them but, she didn't have the appetite and was still worried about her emotions and all the possibilities that would exist.
She sighed once again which made Nicholas raise his head and look at her.
"You've been sighing of the nth time now. What really is your problem? Don't you like to eat with me?"
Serina was shaking her head while poking her fork on her food. "I just have a lot of troublesome thoughts. I didn't know I'd be thinking about them and no matter how hard I try to forget them, they would just keep popping in my mind."
"What are you thinking? Maybe I could help."
"I think you can." Serina smiled, put her utensils down and took a sip of her juice. "I am just wondering because I've read this from one of the books I bought. There's this girl who likes a guy and it turned out that he's a werewolf. And you know that they'd have mates and stuff right?"
"Yeah."
"So, what happened was, she fell in love with him but he fell in love with someone else which was his mate. Therefore, the girl was left all alone. She tried loving someone else but her heart really belongs to the werewolf and even if he was different from her, she was never afraid of him. And to think she met him first before he met her mate."
"So, what is the problem with it?"
"If you are a werewolf, what would you do if you love someone and it turned out that he wasn't your mate? And then your mate comes to take you away from her?"
Hearing her words, Nicholas didn't know whether to laugh or cry. This was exactly his problem over a year ago when he first met her but he couldn't say that to her. She has no idea that he was a real werewolf. Nicholas put down his utensils as well and wiped his mouth with the table napkin.
"A mate is someone destined for you by the moon goddess. You can reject her of course if you don't love her but it would be unfair to your mate. Also, werewolves believe and give importance to this mate thingy. They are not reckless creatures who would just fall in love to anyone."
"How can you say it with such a serious face? Do you really believe in such things?"
"Yeah. In fact, I've met one of them already."
"Really?! When? Where?"
Seeing that she's being enthusiastic again, Nicholas told her the story of her mother but he didn't tell her about the curse and he didn't let her know that it was what her mother experienced. He was using a different name to cover it up.
"Also, if you are not really destined to be with the person, you shouldn't force yourself. You are not only giving him a hard time but you will be hurting yourself again and again. People should know how to move on."
"What about you? If it were you, would you choose your mate and break up with the first woman you love?"
"I can't really tell. I don't know. It would be pretty devastating but I will weigh things several times before choosing anyone."
"I'd rather not fall in love." Serina commented with a nonchalant attitude. "If I can't confirm things, I will do my best not to fall in love with anyone."
"You can't say that. You might just eat your own words in the future."
"No, I won't. I will forever be rational. I won't lose my head over such trivial emotion. I won't bring myself to ruins just because of that damn emotion."
Nicholas only chuckled at her without saying anything. He cannot tell her yet but when she's of legal age and once it's confirmed that she's his mate, he will tell her the truth. He let her know of their fate.
For now, he will just enjoy every moment that he's with her.
After lunch, the two of them walked around, bought lots of things to bring back to the hotel and to gift Serina as well. He knew that she's got her own money but he always wanted to buy something for her.
"By the way, you once told me to stay away from Damon because he's a dangerous guy. Would you tell me just how dangerous he is?" Serina mumbled while looking at the dress that had caught her interest. "If it's something you can't say in public, you can send me a message instead."
"Why do you want to know?"
"Because I discovered something yesterday. I didn't want to tell you this but I thought maybe you'd like to hear about it."
"What did you find?"
"Tell me why you are not allowing me to meet him first." She finally looked at him and the two of them were looking right into each other's eyes. "I won't say anything unless you tell me the truth. No stupid excuses or whatever."
"Then, will you believe the words I'd say."
"I believe everything you'll say."
"I like you."
They were seriously talking about Damon when Nicholas just spouted these words out of nowhere. Serina was caught off guard but she soon realized that he was playing with her again.
"I just told you not to say anything stupid!"
"And you also said you'd believe everything I'll say."
"We're talking about Damon, you idiot!"
Nicholas laughed and pulled out his phone to send her a message. "I thought you'd fall for that trick."
"I just told you, I'd remain rational in my life and not fall for that silly emotion called love."
"Alright. I have sent you the information that you want to know but I beg you not to tell anyone about this. Not even to your friend next door."
"You know about Natalya?" Serina asked with a surprised expression on her face. She hadn't introduced him to her friend yet but he already knew.
"We met outside your room earlier when I was planning to take you out."
"Oh." She said while opening her phone to read the message that Nicholas sent. "Actually, I didn't have to tell her because she knows."
"She knows?"
"Yeah. She knows that Damon is this kind of being you sent me. We both found out yesterday." She said as she pocketed her phone. "Why didn't you tell me before? Why did you have to argue with me using excuses and whatnot. You could have told me that he's that kind of person and I would believe you."
"You will really believe everything I'd say?"
"Yeah, if it's about Damon."
"And what if it's about me? What if I tell you that I'm a…" he leaned closer to hear and whispered right into his ears, "werewolf".
Serina raised her eyebrow and a wide grin was hanging on her lips. "I also have a secret to tell you." She also leaned closer to him and whispered, "I'm a dragon bearer".
At this moment, they were really being honest to each other but they both took it as a joke and just threw it to the back of their mind. They had no idea that they were so close to the answers to their questions.
With their hearty laughter spreading inside the store, the two of them chose clothes while teasing each other. The salesladies could only look at them with envious gaze.
'Why do I even have to make friends with this werewolf? We can be prosperous without their help.' Damon thought while watching Nicholas and Serina from the electric post using his raven form. Instead of going home like what Nicholas told him, he actually transformed to something else and just watched Serina from outside her window. And when they left, he followed them, too. 'I just really want to suck her life force..' He told himself and flew away in annoyance.
