Nicholas and Gregory went to the deepest part of the forest where wild animals used to live. Nicholas stopped walking and turned to look at his best friend and right-hand man.

'Let's not involve the bear in this matter. I can't bare to sacrifice him for our sake. Also, he had been guarding the other animals. What if something happens to us because of our selfishness?'

'So, you are telling me that we are going to face those hunters head on?'

'Hn. But let's make sure that we won't transformed back to our humans form while fighting.'

'I can do that.'

The two of them communicated through their private mental link and walked back to where the hunters camped. Jonas, the leader of the group, was injured a little but this didn't stop him from pursuing what he wanted to discover. He was discussing something with his group when Nicholas and Gregory jumped out of the bushes.

The hunters were caught off guard and the shock on their faces couldn't be hidden at all. Nicholas summoned his energy to make him appear bigger than his usual form. He was towering them, looking at them with contempt and disdain.

"Easy boy. Easy." Jonas muttered softly while he slowly reached for his gun. There's no real bullet inside that gun but a tranquilizer which could slow down an animal put it to sleep.

Nicholas barred his wide jaw and fangs towards them which made the others too several steps back. They were afraid. They had no idea wolves can grow this big in the passage of time. They knew that one attack from this huge animal will take away their lives yet, they couldn't find the strength to run because of the pressure and fear.

As soon as Jonas raised his gun, Nicholas jumped right on him and bit his right arm.

"AHHHHHHHHH!" Jonas screamed while trying to remove his arms from the bite of the wolf. Every time he moved, Nicholas would sink his fangs deeper, eliciting another scream from the man.

"Run!" The other men stated but before they could run a few steps from their leader, Gregory blocked them and looked at them condescendingly. "We are sorry. We are sorry." The three men dropped on their knees and bowed to the wolf. They weren't sure if this wolf could understand them but they were hoping. After all, wolves are considered smart animals.

Realizing that he has hurt the man enough, Nicholas let go of his arms and howled loudly. The other wolves responded to his call which sent shivers down their spine. Not long after, the group of humans were now surrounded with werewolves, all of them strong and large.

These were just the werewolves from the village who answered to his summon. They were just called to make up for the number in order to intimidate this people. Jonas was already limped from the tent-burning incident and now he has received another injury. The second one was the worse. Without even going to the doctor yet and even if he's not a doctor, he knew that there were a lot of damaged nerves and blood vessels in his arms. Worse comes to worst, he might not be able to use it again in the future.

The eyes of the wolves were focused on them. Normally, wolves would hide from humans, afraid that they'd be killed. But this time, they came out in groups to corner these humans.

"We're leaving. Please don't hurt us. We won't come back ever again." one of the hunters bowed again, pleading for mercy.

Gregory stepped aside and let the men passed through. Jonas was also taking a step back while keeping his eyes on Nicholas. As soon as he was several meters away from him, he turned around and fled limply. Blood dripped on the ground as he ran away but none of them paid him any mind.

Nicholas looked at them coldly. 'Next time, if someone trespasses our territory once again, bring them to me.'

'Yes, sir.' The other werewolves answered through their public mental link.

Nicholas turned away and walked back towards his home. He had been working endlessly between their company and the security of the territory. Now, he could understand why it's very important to have a Luna. This work he's been doing was just a practice for him as preparation for his ceremony of becoming the next Alpha but that would still be put on hold if he won't be able to find his Luna.

Although he already has a clue of who his Luna would be, he was still worried on how he could explain things. Yes, Serina was very open to knowing and learning about werewolves but it would a lot different if she knows that the person she trusted turns out to be a werewolf as well.

'Why don't you go and see our mate?' Kiro asked Nicholas.

'I cannot. Also, she will be coming back soon. I have arranged for her to come home on her eighteenth birthday.'

'Does she know?'

'Not yet. I have to consult her father first with the preparation and to make sure that she will be surprised.'

'That's a good idea.'

Nicholas was already preparing for Serina's homecoming without knowing that Serina has booked for a ticket to fly back home. She was one step ahead of him when it comes to planning. At the same time, it didn't really matter since they have common purpose which was for her to go back home.

Meanwhile in France, Serina was walking back to school with Natalya. They just had a wonderful dinner together and she enjoyed talking to her. She learned that Natalya met another shifter from the leopard's clan. She's also a woman who works as a veterinarian and a traveling doctor at that. The two of them met when Natalya was talking to an injured cat. She was planning to heal its injury when the doctor popped out of nowhere. Instead of wasting her time and energy, she let her tend to the cat.

"I don't know when I'd get another chance to leave the school but I will let you know when I get the chance."

"Sure. I'll be waiting. Always be careful."

"Yes, I will. You do the same." Serina hugged her friend and was about to enter the gate when she heard a faint voice screaming for help.

'Did you hear that?' She asked Natalya through their private mental link.

'I did. It's transmitted through a mental link. Someone just screamed for help.' Natalya didn't explain much and started running to where the scream came from. Serina was following behind her while looking around to find anything that they can use to fight off the assailant. Sadly, there was none. 'Just go back to your dorm. It's almost curfew and you will be late.'

'So, what? I can't leave you here to deal with that thing all alone. It's dangerous. Should we call a police officer?'

'It would be too late if we do that.' Natalya answered. As they continued to trace the source of the voice, they arrived at the dark alley. If normal people passed by this place, they wouldn't be able to see anything. Good thing, the two of them weren't normal people.

Natalya can see clearly during the night because of the leopard's gene that is coursing in her blood. As for Serina, she can see through her thermal sensors. She's like a walking thermal machine that could detect people or organisms through heat. In the deepest part of the alley, they could see four people. One was being strangled by something and the other was the assailant. With the form of the other two, Serina and Natalya could tell that they were children.

'I'll attack the man. Can you shield the woman?' Serina stated with a little anxiety. It was the very first time for her to witness a crime.

'What are you planning to do?'

'I'll burn him to death.'

'You can't do that!'

'Why not? If we let go of him today, he will just look for a new victim tomorrow. We can't save everyone all the time.'

Natalya contemplated for a moment but the woman's voice echoed in her head again. She was still asking for help and based on her voice alone, she could already tell that she was losing her life slowly. 'Go ahead. I'll shield her.'

Without waiting for another instruction, Serina chanted something quickly and summoned a fire. In few seconds, she conjured a fireball which was as large as her fist. The man wasn't able to react on time when Serina tossed the fire at him. It was small at first but Serina chanted another spell and the fire grew bigger.

The woman was still heaving for breath, clutching her chest and massaging her throat to let more air flow into her. The kids on the side were hugging each other, scared at their wit's end but none of them made a sound.

The man tried to shift but his power was suppressed with the fire that Serina threw on him. He laid on the ground, ignoring the filth as long as he can get rid of it was to no avail. If Serina won't stop it, the fire won't stop to burn either. He didn't scream for help either. He was stubborn as a mule.

Within three minutes, the man was burned down to ashes. Because it was a deserted alley, no one really paid attention to it and no one would want to be involved in a crime either. Therefore, the man died without anyone knowing how.

'Vampires are truly hateful.' Serina stated through their mental link while Natalya helped the woman to stand up.

'Say that to Damon.'

'Whatever.' Serina walked towards the children and casted a spell on them, making them forget that she came to their aid and implanting other information in their mind. 'I think it's fine if I can't go back to the dorm now. Let's take these children and that lady somewhere safe.'

Unknown to them, Damon had been following them all day and had witnessed what Serina did. His doubts were confirmed and this made him change his plans. 'You are a blessing in disguise..' Damon thought before flying away in his bat form.
