'Hey, did you hear that?' Serina asked her dragon.

'I didn't. It must be your imagination.' Brittislava answered. In fact, she really heard someone calling for Serina's name and it came through a mind link, and she knew that it came from the wolf residing in Nicholas.

'Maybe you're right.' Serina stated. Since she was interrupted in her emotional distress, she finally stopped crying and went to her bathroom. She took a quick shower and dressed herself with clean clothes. "I'll give him a call." Serina told herself and looked for her phone. When she found it, she saw a lot of messages and missed class from Nicholas.

She was about to read one of the messages when Nicholas' call came in. She was so startled that she almost loosened her grip on the phone. Letting out a heavy breath, she answered the phone.

"Rina? Thank goodness you've picked up my call. I'm about to head out to the airport when I received a message from Natalya that you're back in your dorm."

"Ah? Yeah. Yes, yes. I'm back in the dorm. I went out and forgot to bring my phone." Serina answered with faint and fake laughter. "Why are you heading out to the airport? Are you going somewhere?"

"Yes. I was planning to go over there and find you."

"Over here? Are you insane? I just went out for several hours and you are planning to come over here? Don't waste your money on something so trivial."

"But you are hurt."

"Am I?"

"Yes. I can feel it. I can sense that you are hurt."

Serina was speechless at this point. She didn't know how he knew but knowing that someone cared for her to this extent, she was really, really happy. "Thank you for your concern, Nicholas. However, you don't have to come over here. I am okay now."

"Then, would you tell me what happened?"

"Uh…uhm…I found a book related to dragons and werewolves and…the reason is really silly. You don't have to know."

"I still want to know no matter how silly the reason is."

"I found a book. I read it. It was heartbreaking. I cried so hard because of it. I was hurt deeply because of the book."

Nicholas knew she was lying but since she didn't want to tell him about it, he didn't bother insisting to know the truth. He will know it when the right time comes. "I see. Stop reading too many emotional books. It's not good for your heart."

"I know. I'll take note of that." Serina wanted to say something more but she was afraid that Nicholas would find out that she lied so she bid him farewell and just ended the call. 'Brittislava, before becoming a dragon spirit, you must have your own body, right?'

'Yes. Thousands of years ago, I was really a dragon princess with huge and powerful body. When human came and killed our kin, we transformed to a dragon spirit. Why do you ask?'

'Have you ever loved someone when you were still a dragon?'

'No, I never had someone so dear to me. I only learned about love, marriage and mates when I became a dragon spirit and possessed the first maiden that I ever laid my eyes on.'

'What kind of person was she?'

'She was very kind. Her family was poor but as long as she can help, she'd always help. She likes traveling around so, I chose her in order to grant her wish of seeing the world. When she turned 28, she fell in love with someone. They got married and had kids. She wasn't supposed to die but she wanted me to free her so that she can be with her husband.'

'So, did you choose someone from her kids and continued what you have started?'

'No, I did not. Her children didn't know anything about me and unlike their mother, the children were selfish. I didn't want those kinds of selfish people.'

'Then, how did you end up with my late auntie. Based on what happened, she must have been the most selfish person you have ever encountered. She even got to the point of hurting people and the next generation.'

Brittislava was silent and Serina thought that she didn't want to answer. She got onto her bed and just waited for her dragon to speak. She picked up a book and read some chapters but her dragon still didn't say anything. 'Are you still there? Why are you silent?'

'Your auntie wasn't selfish. In fact, she was someone with a bigger heart. Everyone in the village likes her. Things went wrong when she fell in love. Unlike the first woman that I possessed, who fell in love at 28, your auntie fell in love when she was a little over a hundred of years old. It was the first time that she liked someone to the extent that she won't talk about anyone else but him. She met him first. She loved him first but the man fell in love with Brenna. She was outraged. She felt belittled. How can a woman like her be inferior to Brenna? Because of that she put the curse on Brenna. No matter how they persuade for her to take back the curse, she just wouldn't do it.'

'Why didn't you do it?'

'I am nothing but a spirit and a source of power but I cannot do something that would consume so much energy. In short, you are the medium for my power to be used.'

'Oh. So, did they chase her and my father away that time?'

'No, your father wasn't born at that time yet. Brenna and her husband didn't give and just waited until your auntie would calm down. Who would've thought that she'd go out of the village and reside in the human realm. She lived a normal life, pretending to be an ordinary human and has forgotten the couple who were still waiting for her to come back home. They still needed her help. And then, another unexpected event happened. After another one hundred years, she fell in love again. When I learned about this, I told Alina the information. Along with the other elders, they looked for us.'

'This person that she fell in love with was the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack, right?'

'Correct. For the second time, your auntie fell in love with a man who already loved someone else. The Alpha has found his mate when your auntie found him. To the Moon Goddess, mates is the measurement of loyalty. No matter what happens, you will only love your mate and no one else. Again, your auntie was outraged and placed the curse on her. At the same time, Alina and the other elders arrived, before the curse was completed, they were able to alter it but the alteration wasn't enough to save the lives of other children.'

'So, they went into hiding and my auntie died. Did she commit suicide or did someone kill her?'

'She committed suicide but she left all her resentments to the curses that she made. In the end, even when she died and perished, the curses stayed. The outside world didn't know that she's dead though.'

'When she died, how come you didn't perish along with her?'

'Because I wasn't the one who committed suicide, I will only perish if I chose to perish myself like what the lord of all fire dragons did. He killed himself and sent his spirit to the realm of dragons. As long as you chose to step into this realm voluntarily, you won't be able to get out of that place.'

'My auntie killed himself and my supposed grandpa killed himself, too? What for? Isn't it enough for my auntie to die to atone for all the sins she made?'

'The Lord of the fire dragon committed suicide for the sake of your father. With the curse that your auntie created, how many people do you think were angry at her? Two? Four? No, it's the whole clan. If your father stayed, he'd be receiving the brunt of their anger.'

Serina nodded her head after learning more information about her auntie and the dragon clan. She didn't expect that she'd pity her late auntie despite what happened. The woman only loved someone but that's someone already loved another woman. Isn't it painful?

'Considering the things that she can do, my auntie should be someone really powerful.'

'Don't get mad if I tell you the truth.'

'Truth about what?'

'That among all of the women I have possessed, your auntie was the most powerful. As for you, your power can't even compare to the size of her pinky. But let's not forget the fact that we only started few years ago.'

'Correct. After hundreds of years, with proper guidance and practice, I'd be as powerful as her.' Serina responded cheerfully, quickly forgetting the painful event that she just went through.

Brittislava blocked her own spiritual mind and sighed. 'Sorry, Rina.. I can't help you achieve that dream.'
