Before starting to hike the mountain, Jackson reminded them several times about precautions and emergency procedure. He talked for almost half an hour and if Hillary didn't kick her brother to stop, he'd probably take his time until the sun sets and they won't have any source of light to help them find the way. In truth, it wasn't really that late. It was just 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

Hillary introduced the five other people who came with them and to Serina's surprise, one of them was even the youngest son of the city mayor. Although he's the youngest, he was three years older than her. His name was Timothy. The other guy was Hillary's classmate named, Jonathan. As for the three girls, they were Hillary and Brigette's new found friends in senior high. When told about their ages, Serina realized that she was the only minor among the group. Although she was once classmates with Hillary and Brigette, these two people were actually one year older than her.

"Serina, do you need help with your bag? I can bring them for you." Timothy questioned with good intention after seeing that she was bringing a huge back and it looked heavy to him. At the same time, it was to leave a good impression on her.

"I'm fine. I can carry this much. Thank you for asking."

He only smiled at her and received a consoling gaze from the other people. They knew of his feelings before coming her because they all go to the same school and have heard so much about the brilliant Serina who came from Royale Academy. Her name was popular because of her beautiful face, a body that many women were jealous of, and of course because, she was intelligent and became the first student from the city who was given the opportunity to study in Paris. Not only that, her name has been mentioned several times together with Nicholas Vallardi, stating that the two of them have intimate relationship.

But looking at the situation now, it seems to them that she's single and ready to mingle.

Once they started their hike, Serina has completely forgotten to think about Nicholas. All she could think of were the wolves living in the deepest part of the mountain forest and the eerie familiarity of the place. She realized that she was within the Vallardi estate but she knew that she has never been to this part of the mountain. Nicholas didn't bring her to this area but she felt she had gone to this place before. She looked around and found many species of beautiful plants. There were many rabbits and squirrels jumping around, scampering away from the fear that the humans would hurt them.

She took pictures with her phone and appreciated the beauty of the nature which thankfully, was taken cared of by the Vallardi family. The vast expanse of land was a private property of the Vallardi family and seeing that there were many wild lives being taken care of in the forest, the government made a law that hunting in this area isn't only punishable by the private owners but will also receive another punishment from the wild life resources and preservation.

Hillary couldn't have gotten the permit on her own but because Timothy was the mayor's son, she was able to get it with his help- not knowing that she was only a step for the man to get closer to Serina. Sadly, Serina has no intention of being close to him.

After almost two hours of hiking, the eight of them finally arrived at the peak area where campers are allowed to stay. It was a huge space and there were many traces left by the other campers who came before them.

"Let's take a rest first and put up our tents later." Timothy stated, acting as the leader of the group since he looked capable and strong.

"I'll put up mine first." Serina replied and started to look for a great spot where she can see the city and see a little part of the Vallardi village. She could see the huge mansion not far from them and she could hear the laughter from the people and the beautiful song being played. She longed to be there.

"I heard that Yiran, the young lady from the Vallardi, is celebrating her birthday today. If I heard it correctly, she's a sister to Nicholas." Timothy commented as he looked towards the glaring beauty of the mansion as well.

Everyone looked at Serina, waiting for her response or to see the changes of her expression. However, she only sighed and smiled faintly. "My parents will be there."

"What about you? Why didn't you go with them?"

"I wanted to spend time with my best friends but I didn't know they'd bring me here. If I knew, I could have brought another dress and join them – leave the party and come over here after. Hitting two birds with one stone."

"That is so you." Brigette commented with faint laughter. "Anyway, you can meet him whenever you want. The man obviously misses you but you just didn't want to show your face yet."

"Speaking of, I remember that Nicholas booked a flight for you to come home for your birthday." Hillary added.

"How did you know?"

"Because he asked me what could be the perfect present for you. And back then, I didn't know you'd come back before your birthday so, I told him that you'd be very happy if you can come home and spend time with your family."

"So, basically, I ruined the birthday present he has prepared for me?"

"Since he didn't know, you can just go back to Paris, pretend you didn't come home and accept the tickets."

"Do you think I'm an idiot?" Serina rolled her eyes and threw a little dried branch on her best friend. "I'll just go and see him next week. Probably." She sighed once again and started putting up her tent. Timothy and Jonathan helped her and to make sure that she won't be suspicious of their help, the two men also helped the other girls to set up their tents. "I'll go around and look. You guys don't have to follow me. I have a lot of food inside my bag so, if you're hungry, you can just help yourself." She left without looking back and disappeared into the forest. She relied on her instinct and memories to look for the little cubs but she couldn't find them. What she found was a beautiful lake instead.

There weren't any falls nearby but there was over a meter-wide expanse of river that lengthens back to wherever was the source of the water. It would probably lead her to a fall but she didn't bother finding out. The water was so clear and enticing to her specially with the sun's reflection on the surface. She could see the small fishes swimming underwater and she wanted to swim with them as well.

"How deep could this lake be?" She wondered while looking for something to measure the depth of the lake. She found a long stick which was taller than her by few feet when she held it beside her. "This was probably used by other campers." She said to herself as she stuck it into the lake. When she hit the bottom of the lake, she took out the item and held it once again beside her. "Let's take a swim." She told herself when she found that it was only up to her waist.

At the Vallardi mansion, everyone was having a great time. Yiran was so happy giving people a tour of their backyard and showing the visitors the koi pond that her parents built for her. There were many food and drinks and all people from the village was invited. There were some business partners and employees, too.

Damon was even present. He observed Nicholas through the rim of his wine glass and when the man looks at him, he would look away and pretend to talk with someone else. 'How the hell did this person become her mate?' Damon thought to himself and closed his eyes to stop the changes of his eyes from taking place. He didn't want other to know that he's a vampire. Probably, only the werewolves knew that he's a vampire and there were many human beings present this time. He didn't want to complicate his life.

Nicholas knew that Damon was observing him but he didn't know why. He has no enmity towards this man and obviously they haven't spent so much time together. Even if they were considered business partner, Damon didn't like doing business and always allowed his older brother to work instead.

He was about to talk to Damon and confront him if he ever made him angry but just as he was about to reach him, he caught scent of something familiar yet unfamiliar altogether. There was a sense of foreboding but there was a sense of joy as well. And before he could even think properly, his body already made a move without much thought. As soon as he disappeared from the sight of the guests, he changed to his wolf form.

'To the lake. Someone's at the lake.' Kiro warned Nicholas. There was a strong source of power that he felt at the lake but when he linked his mind to his parents and the other villagers, he can sense calmness and peace in them.

'Are we the only one feeling this?' Nicholas questioned.

'Probably.'

His huge wolf form ran towards the lake but when they arrived at the place, Nicholas was stunned as if he was electrocuted.. He was already prepared to engage in a fight, baring his fangs to the intruder but all he saw was a seductress nymph taking her bath.
