Yiran looked around but still couldn't find her brother. He's gone for a while now and many people were looking for him, too. They wanted to have a chat to the successor of the Vallardi estate but no matter how much they looked for him, they just couldn't find him within the party venue.

"Did Nicholas tell you where he was going?" Riordan asked Zalia thru their private mental link while keeping a calm and friendly façade in front of everyone.

"He didn't. Before I could ask him, he just disappeared. He closed off his communication link as well." She was a little worried for her son but she knew that he's a grown-up man and could protect himself if something should happen. "He's probably in the forest. You know that he loves the wolves so much and would love to spend time with them as much as he could."

"You are right."

No one knew, that in the middle of the forest, Nicholas has transformed to a wolf and was nuzzling with Serina while looking at the other people with disdain.

It was already dark and Hillary was preparing food for dinner together with Timothy. Both of them kept looking at the wolf and whenever Serina presented herself to help, the wolf would whine and would bite the hem of her shirt to stop her.

"This wolf is beyond normal." Jessie, one of the three other females, stated while looking at the huge animal in wary. "I have never heard of a wolf with that size. If we take a picture and post it, people would be shocked silly."

"You cannot do that." Serina immediately responded looking all fierce like a mother protecting her son. "I'm telling you, this place is a private property and a wild life preserved area and the animals here have the right to live. I won't let anyone disturb them, hurt them or make them a source of fun."

"What are you getting angry for?  I'm just saying my opinion. I'm not going to do that."

"You better be." Serina calmed down but there the warning note of voice was loud and clear. Her love for wolves cannot be measure by any means and she didn't even know why. If given a chance, she'd want to live in the middle of the forest, with the wolves surrounding her. However, she knew that wolves shouldn't be domesticated and it's the reason why Nicholas and his family protected them in this forest.

'Why didn't you tell Nicholas that you are home?' Kiro asked. His huge head was nestling on Serina's thighs while she caressed his mane. It was a question that both he and Nicholas wanted to know. He guessed that Serina was back in the country for quite sometime now but he didn't know why she didn't tell him. He didn't remember making her upset for her to keep such important matter a secret. Yes, being home is an important matter to Nicholas and Kiro.

Serina flinched a little at the question but she didn't change her expression. She didn't want to tell Kiro. She was afraid that he'd tell Nicholas about it. "Flying back home was decided out of impulse." She said. "Also, I wanted to see the other wolves. I missed the cubs so much."

'I can call them here.'

"Really?" Serina's face lit up at the thought of seeing the little cubs again. "I'd be happy to see them but maybe we can do that later. They'd be afraid if they see a lot of humans here."

'You are right. Maybe I can take you to them instead?'

"I love the idea but it's getting late and it's dangerous to wander around in the forest."

'Don't forget the fact that I have live in this forest all my life. I have memorized the place already.'

"Then, I'll take your offer."

Kiro rose up from the ground and stood tall and mighty in front of them all. Serina stood up as well and patted the back of her shorts. She was excited to see the little pups and play with them but since it's night time already, she was planning to just watch them and be contented with that. It's more than enough that she got to meet Kiro and play with him.

"Rina? Can you really understand him?" Brigette asked with obvious worry. "I mean, I know how much you love wolves and you have studied them since you were young. I know that you want to keep one for yourself if possible but we cannot ignore the fact that he's wild."

"And we don't have Nicholas here to tame him." Hillary added.

"Thanks for your concern but I can understand Kiro just fine. Nicholas can enjoy the party with his sister. It's once in a lifetime and I don't want to disturb him just because I found his wolf."

"How do you communicate with the wolf anyway?" Jonathan was just curious because he didn't notice anything unusual from the wolf. It didn't even open its mouth to howl or roar. It only whines whenever Serina tries to leave. If anything, he'd think that the wolf was jealous of Serina spending time with other people. Funny, but that was what Jonathan really imagined.

Serina thought for a while but she couldn't tell them how. They'd probably think she's crazy if she's going to be honest with them. "I don't know how but I can tell what they want from their subtle movements and wolves are considered intelligent animals." Serina looked away, a sign that she wanted to end the conversation. "Anyway, I'd be going somewhere. You guys stay here and don't walk around without anyone accompanying you. The forest has many wild animals but they won't be going near you."

"Do you want one of us to come along with you?" Timothy asked but Kiro bared his fangs towards him instead. The loud and threatening snarl was enough to make him take several steps back. "Easy boy. I'm just suggesting."

"He doesn't like the suggestion." Serina responded while rubbing her hand on Kiro's neck. "I'm off. See you later. You can eat without me." And there, Kiro lowered his body for Serina to climbed on to and off they go. They disappeared into the forest that no one was familiar of, except for Serina and Kiro.

The wind was even chiller now that Serina was away from the warmth of the campfire but she only felt it for few seconds because when she hugged Kiro, he was very warm. She could cuddle with him for the rest of her life if possible. Sometimes, she felt that Kiro could read her mind but she realized that maybe he was reading her movements. After all, she thought he'd been spending so much time with Nicholas and other humans. It never occurred to her that the wolf she was talking to was also Nicholas himself.

As they went deeper into the forest, it was a little bit darker but to her surprise, she could see things perfectly. She could see the little hares jumping as they burrowed themselves to their hiding holes, the snake twisting on a branch of the tree and the nocturnal owl. Its huge eyes were looking at her as if it was assessing the deepest of her soul.

"Kiro, don't tell Nicholas that I am home." Her voice was soft and low but Kiro abruptly stopped running, almost throwing her off of his back. "What is it?"

'Why?' He sounded confused and hurt and for a moment there, Serina thought she heard Nicholas.

"I don't know but there are things that confuses me now and I don't want to see him yet. Don't worry, I'll come and see him but not so soon. Just give me some time to prepare myself."

'It's not like he's going to fight you. What's there to prepare for?'

'My feelings.' Serina answered mentally but kept her mind closed off, not letting anyone pick up what was inside her brain. "Anyway, I'm asking you for a favor and I will do my best to return it in the future."

'Alright. I'll keep this matter a secret but if you ever find something related to Nicholas, something that people won't believe and something that could even put him in danger, promise me that you won't freak out.'

"Is there something like that?"

'Everyone has a secret or two.'

Nicholas couldn't stop himself from praising his own wolf mentally. Not only was he creating opportunities for them to get closer but he even made her promise not to judge him quickly should she know of his true nature. Kiro has prepared her for it. Although, it couldn't be a great mental preparation, at the very least, she knew that it could be something that anyone would freak out.

Kiro decided to take stroll instead, jumping over dead branches, walking in the middle of the forest with Serina sitting on his back. She was busy looking around, observing the forest knowing that the place could look different during day and night. Not long after, they arrived at the spot that she was very familiar of – the place where her beloved pups stay.

"Kylo.." It was just a whisper but she saw a little pup running towards her and behind it were two other little cubs. "Hunter! Sierra!"
