If there was one thing that Taeyeon hated, it was not getting the reaction to a joke that was expected.
There was the time and effort involved. She actually meticulously planned most of her pranks. The depth of the work involved could be staggering. There were details and nuances that were underestimated by novices. The merely ignorant would be astounded at the efforts being made to get the appropriate reactions. Shock, horror, surprise, and ultimately laughter and a sense of relief were the result of the culmination of earth moving efforts. She frequently got exasperated, after all, only barbarians and dimwits did not get her jokes. These people were not worth thinking about.
Taeyeon was a perfectionist. She would spare no expense to craft the perfect – in her mind at least – a scenario for an individual. She made sure to tailor each reaction to each person. She could, but would very rarely would, do something off the cuff with no prior planning. She thought of herself as a serotonin release artist.
What was worse than anything else in Taeyeon’s world was when she did not get any reaction at all. She was used to people not understanding her jokes. She was used to people not appreciating everything that she went through for them. However, there was just one person who failed to appreciate her efforts and never gave a decent reaction. Or give a reaction at all.
Kang Seulgi. Taeyeon’s nemesis.
She never reacts. She never reacts to anything that Tae has done so far.
It’s almost as if she does not even notice what is going on. She ignores all of the supreme efforts that Tae puts into these treats. This self absorbed monster does not appreciate what lengths she goes through. The audacity!
Seulgi simply fails to understand what horrendous effects she is issuing on the mental well being of her better. “She is starting to damage my calm,” Tae thought to herself. She would have said it to someone else, had there been anyone available to talk to.
Taeyeon didn’t want to start talking to herself. She might look as if she were crazy. We can’t have that now, can we?
But, Seulgi. She didn’t care how she looked. Smiling like a fool. Talking to everyone with that vapid smile on her face. That hidden insidiousness that was behind that was designed to frustrate even the best and most meticulously laid plans.
Her evil had fooled everyone, except for Tae, She knew what cunning, conniving, and calculation that Seulgi was hiding. She saw behind the façade. After all, there is no way it could be a coincidence that everything that Tae threw at her would miss.
Seulgi, that hyena laughing idiot, just had to be laughing at her.
Taeyeon had a mental image of Seulgi holding an H&K MP5 with thirty round clip and forward hard guard, dressed in military fatigues without being indicative of a specific country, hair perfectly kept in bear ear buns, yet still fabulously made up and turned out, standing atop of the mountain of corpses from her finely tuned jokes.

It was enough to make one….well, crazy.
Tae shook her head at thought of herself being unbalanced or crazy. Which would not have helped her reputation and the image everyone had of her if anyone has seen her shaking her head while mumbling. More likely it would have just cemented the notion in the hearts and minds of…everybody.
What sort of sinister spell had Seulgi cast upon everyone to make them love her to the degree that she was loved by everyone? It had to be something evil. That incompetent harridan was pernicious.
Tae’s eyes narrowed in a concentration that actually made her look more sinister than anything that Seulgi could pull off even if she tried.
Think, Tae, THINK. She had to think.
These thoughts had been circling through a well worn rut in her brain. If her thoughts had a physical manifestation, there would be a deep rut from where the squirrels in her mind kept running in circles as she kept trying to figure out why things never worked out quite how they were supposed to.
It made no sense to Tae’s well ordered world. In Tae’s world, she found targets, planned appropriate actions, executed well thought out plans, and then sat back and enjoyed the results. Except when it came to Seulgi, that Teflon skinned mimic. Somewhere between the plan and execution, everything went sideways.
She checked Seulgi’s clique and made sure that they were not protecting her. They did, somewhat, when she was a bit too loose lipped with her plans. But they did not do enough to foil every plan.
Seulgi must have a guardian angel looking out for her over time. Then again, with all of the bumps, bruises, and sprains that she comes regularly comes to work with, it’s more like a guardian idiot.
Five PM floated by. Then six. It was 6:30 when the cleaning crew came in (and whom Taeyeon manage to startle about two years of life out of, lurking in the dark the way she was) that she woke from her reverie and finally went home to plot the next prank. A foolproof plan.
Granted the universe was unfair. The more you foolproof a plan, the better fool the Universe would throw at you. And that fool Seulgi was the Universe’s ultimate answer to every plan that Taeyeon can come up with.
What Taeyeon did not know was that she was not the only antagonist for Seulgi. There was still someone from her childhood that had a much more malignant interest in her. This person was also keeping tabs on her, where she lived, and whom she was friends with. Seulgi and her crew were unaware of just how much danger they were actually in, if or when it finally came.
