Seulgi began:

Everyone was already aware of her being led away by the MIB. There are several interpretations of who these MIBs were. Cops, mafia, an actual MIB, the secret service, and other even more ridiculous ideas.

Seulgi was interested in just exactly how she became embroiled with the MIB and was secretly fighting aliens, but some people had a better imagination than her.

So, she began from the beginning. They already knew how Karen had gloriously got herself fired.

What they didn’t know was that she was trying to sue the company and several employees as well. Seulgi is one of those same employees. How she got involved in the lawsuit, no one knew. Not even the legal department had an adequate explanation. Most they could guess was it was a shotgun approach – if you throw enough shots out, someone was going to get hit.

She explained that the MIB were actually police detectives and they wanted her to go to the station to take a statement. This was against a criminal complaint levied by Karen against her, several others, and the company.

Then she got to the part that they knew nothing about. Everyone knew that she was asked upstairs. So, she explained how the Old Man, the Legal Head, and she shared tea and cookies while discussing what the police had wanted. Nayeon successfully resisted asking what everyone else was wondering: What kind of cookies were snacked upon. Then how they discussed what was going to happen next. That they finished with what the higher ups were going to do to protect the company, and Seulgi and the others that are personally accused, specifically.

Obviously, she could not go into too many details about any part of the explanation for personal, professional, and legal reasons. So, she gave broad outlines for the most part, but she gave what details she could. These tidbits were enough to entice her crew to try and wheedle extra details, but Seulgi was ironclad in what she would – as well as she would not – say.

She gave out some of the details of what the legal department was planning on doing. And she started smirking during the explanation.

Soon, Yeji and Jackson started giggling again as she was explaining.

The rest of the group soon joined them.

Giggles gave way to guffaws. Guffaws turned into howls of laughter at the impending karma that Karen had earned herself. The ideas that they held for how the Deep Dark Legal Department operates have changed a bit and the legal department became both slightly more respectable and slightly more terrifying. They all decided in their hearts to never do anything to get on the bad side of the legal department.

A couple of people made a mental note to cultivate some friendships with the legal eagles. If only for self preservation. Their machinations were both hidden and impressive when explained. Besides, there were a couple of the handsome younger members that had caught the Terrible Twin’s eye. The poor devils.

At the end of Seulgi’s explanations, everyone understood why she, Yeji, and Jackson were found in the state they were in earlier.

Seulgi had a secondary purpose behind telling her people the details. She wanted to make sure that the newer, younger members could actually keep a secret.

About this time, Taeyeon wandered by Seulgi’s office. She had mixed feelings for several reasons. She heard a bunch of unidentifiable sounds coming from the door. She had enough social awareness to not put her ear to the door. She was not sure if it was crying or laughter. It was close enough that she could not be certain. Taeyeon would be sorely disappointed to know that it actually a mix of crying and laughter – but the crying was caused by the laughter. She did not want her nemesis to get fired because then all of her plans would become boring. She ground her teeth in annoyance at her ignorance and stalked off. The office minions scattered out of her way like a shoal of fish avoiding an angry shark.

After the unplanned break in everyone’s schedule, and after everyone calmed back down, she cleared her throat and Seulgi got everyone back into business mode. She confirmed what everyone was working on and shooed them back out into the Real World and got them back to work. Deadlines would not wait, after all.

Seulgi got her laptop back into order and found about twice the usual emails. Most of the emails were ‘Is Everything Ok?’ messages or some variation thereof. She sent out a couple of dozen ‘I’m Fine, everything is OK’ messages. One even came from Taeyeon, which confused her, but she gave a properly respectful answer.

The one email that she really did not expect was from one of the detectives. It was a thank you for being prompt, polite, and very thorough in her statement. From the tone of the email, it was rare to be able to talk to someone like her and it was appreciated. She smiled and replied with a polite ‘You're welcome’ and with some other innocuous things before hitting send and moving on.

Sighing away some stress, she took a moment to stretch before diving into the rest of her work.

While on autopilot she did some of the routine activities needed. Her mind wandered off to other people that she needed to talk to. She had been avoiding her mother for far too long. While dreading it, she still needed to call her. There was no telling what other mischief that was being concocted behind her back. No matter how annoying and bothersome her mother was, she was still a good daughter, after all.

Talking to her brother fell into the same category as her mother in the list of people to generally avoid. But she ought to check in with him as well. It was another uncomfortable conversation she’d like to avoid, but can’t. She is a good sister, after all.

Wannie was a much more attractive thought of someone to talk to. She thought about all of the things that she wanted to talk to her about. Though it seemed otherwise recently, Seulgi did do more than just work all the time. They both were good stress relief for each other.

Seulgi got out her phone and started texting Wannie. She asked if they were still on for working out later. She also asked if Wannie would like to go to the gym for a change. She also mentioned that several people would like to join them if it was OK with her.

Wannie replied with a smiling emoji.
