Chapter 6: BRAN STORMING A POLT PT.2

Season 1A

Harper Santiago is a non-binary young adult struggling to find purpose in their life; while they have a bass guitar and a lovely roommate named Rachel, they still want to find something after dealing with a former toxic ex.

Harp’s mother called them up to ask Harp how everything had been going with them and Rachel and if Harp was finding out their purpose or if they were thinking of getting a job. Harp reassured their mom that they were looking for a job. After the phone call, Harp walked out of the apartment to have some fresh air and walked through a neighborhood until they saw a small group of people doing a band.

A band member of the team noticed Harp and asked them if they thought their band song was good or not, and Harp remained calm and did not overreact, saying that their music was great. And the band member asked Harp if they’d be interested in joining the band, Harp originally was going to decline, but they said they’d think it out if they wanted to join.

Back in the apartment, Harp talks to Rachel and tells her about the band and how a band member asked them if they’d be interested in joining. Rachel thinks that would be a good purpose for Harp. Harp thought it would, but they mentioned how Harp’s ex was back when they were dating and slowly became toxic, but Rachel reminded Harp of how they are having a good relationship with Rachel.

Rachel told Harp that maybe their ex was terrible for them, but it doesn’t mean that Harp can’t find trust in somebody and that they’ll find somebody good for them, and maybe the band would be an excellent example for them. And Harp decided to join the band to try and open up to new things

The next day Harp went back to the neighborhood to meet up with the band members and told them that they were interested in being in the band, and the band was happy to hear that and hoped they’ll treat Harp like a team member. So Harp is introduced to the team, with Mark as the band's leader and head guitar player, Steph playing the drums, and Gary as the synth piano bassist.

As Harp was introduced to the team, Mark explains about a band tournament that’s going on, how the whole game works out, and how they can be in the match. They must first do a song at a small club that works with the tournament so they would show off their music. And on the day of the club shows, they must show their music to the audience.

The team will immediately battle in the tournament if the audience enjoys it. If the audience doesn’t want it, the audience will reject the team from the contest. Only 1 out of 16 lucky winners will be taken in the match so that it would be a fair game.

Harp was interested in this whole tournament and how it would work out but was a little nervous about how they would perform in front of millions of people when they started their band music. But Gary tells Harp there’s nothing to be scared of committing too many people and that Harp has the entire team behind their back.

Steph tells Harp that the whole team will make it through the tournament and will be legendary. Harp nods as they don’t want to show discomfort with Steph. After Mark informs Harp of the match, they notice where the club would set for their first song. They were excited for the first time to show their music.

Fast forward to Saturday, the day of their first time showing off their music to the club. Before Harp left for the location, they asked Rachel if she would like to come along for moral support. She agrees to come along to support the team and is an excuse for Harp to introduce Rachel to the team.

Unfortunately, they could not introduce Rachel as they were about to be in in a few minutes, but Rachel would be cheering the team on. Before Harp leaves to meet up with the gang, Rachel tells Harp to have a great time with the team, and if they lose, then at least the team had a great time showing off the club.

Harp smiles and walks off to catch up with the gang just in time for when it’s their time to shine, they are shown on stage as they show off their talent to the scene, and after they finish, the audience enjoys their song.

A couple of minutes before they perform, Mark told the band how’ll they’ll perform for the club. And told everyone to be at their advance for the band.

 Therefore, The Suicidal Gems stood accepted into the tournament as everyone at the club saluted the team, welcomed the contest, and hoped to succeed.

Harp introduced Rachel to the group while she stood there, and they were curious about Rachel’s connection with Harp as their roommate. Gary asked Rachel if maybe she could come along and catch something to eat. While she definitely would, she decided to head back to the apartment so nobody won’t break in, so she left to head back to the apartment.

Harp and the gang grab some burgers and fries for dinner, and they have a moment as they’re excited about being in the tournament and hoping they’ll take over the whole game and be legends. Harp is excited about being in the contest, hoping the team will do all they can to make it until the end.

After the burger talk, Harp went back to the apartment. They talked about the team's conversation, hoping it would be great until the end. Rachel is happy that Harp will have a great purpose with their bass, and the team will be legends.

Season 1B

Fast forward to three weeks later as the team got a notification on who their first matchup would be against, and that the location would be at a small concert and the date would be next week.

It was enough time for the gang to rehearse and train up for their next song and Harp’s hanging out with the team as they all were getting along. Then, a few days before the first tournament, Harp has a conversation with Mark and how happy Mark is that Harp’s on the team. And Mark asked Harp replied that they wanted to find a new purpose.

Harp said that they were in a bad spot during their teenage phase and when they were starting college, but then they met Rachel and she opened their eyes knowing that they’re not alone in this life.

Mark hopes that he’ll help out in finding Harp their purpose through this journey of being in the tournament, and Harp laughs as they hope they won’t fail in their first tournament.

On the tournament day, Harp arrived to catch up with the Suicidal Gems as the team prepared for their first match-up. Steph reminded the group never to doubt the team and do all we could to make it to the top.

The Suicidal Gems did their first match against Satanic Smokies, their team was a farce, but they didn’t have a chance against Suicidal Gems. However, the game's team winners set them to have their first win in the tournament.

Harp and the gang were excited that they had their first time winning in the match, and as a reward, they got 1000$ for being the winner.

Harp came back to the apartment to tell Rachel the excellent news. Of course, Rachel was happy for them. But she wants Harp about what they've been doing. She thinks Harp’s mom would be glad to talk about their band.

So Harp called their mom up and told her the good news. Their mom was excited about Harp’s new career of being a musician, as Harp was already into making music since they were young. She hopes Harp will make it through the tournament and be the person they want to be and she’ll be supporting Harp through the whole game.

Harp felt happy that their mom was going to support her child during the tournament and see them grow to become what they want to be.

Season 2A

Harp got themselves a new bass guitar now that they were able to get enough money thanks to their recent tournament win. Rachel stopped by the apartment for a lunch break and to check up on Harp, Harp was about to head over to Mark’s place for rehearsal.  Harp says goodbye to Rachel as they rushed off to Mark’s place. 

Mark, Steph, and Gary were panicking over their next match which they noticed were a bit difficult. It was Canadian Pansurp and the trio checked their music they were panicking over their next match. But Harp reassured the group that they’ll get through the match and advance forwards to the next match.

Mark calmed down as Harp’s words got him back into his spirits as he was worked up to practice on their next song against the Canadian Pansurp, and they practiced all they could the whole day.

Later that night, Harp and Mark spoke to each other. Mark thanked Harp for having their spirits back up from panicking for the next match coming up. He felt nostalgic when Harp reassured the group, back to when Mark, Steph, and Gary were high schoolers and they were struggling on their first match in a high school band match.

And Mark and Steph were struggling with how they would pull through their first match in a school band match, but Gary reassured them that the gang’s gonna win their match and they will be legends, just like Mark wanted to be when he was young.

Harp felt a bit more respect for Gary than back when they first met, and they hope Gary would be more helpful or more or less an underdog of the band. Harp went back to the apartment for the night and saw that their mom stopped by to check in with Harp and Rachel, Harp’s mom and Rachel were just having some tea just before Harp came in.

She was just chatting with Rachel of Harp’s recent match up on their rock band tournament, and she was impressed by Harp and the band. She was hoping if Harp’s alright with it, if they could introduce the band to Harp’s mom.

Harp was a little shy of the idea, thinking it’s too soon to show the band to their mom, but Harp told her that it’s ok if they want to go to the match and see them perform and see what the team is going for.

Harp’s mom was ok with it, and decided to go to the match and watch Harp perform with their band team. It was getting late and Harp’s mom left for the night back, leaving Harp feeling nervous about their mom watching them perform.

Rachel told Harp to not be nervous of their mom seeing them perform, it’s showing that she’s showing support for them through the whole tournament till the very end. Harp felt a little relieved that their mom and Rachel’s gonna support Harp’s journey to find that purpose.

On the day of the match, Harp arrived at Mark’s just hours before they leave for the match and they were all eager for their match against the Canadian Pansurp. Steph thinks that they should do what they can at their next match, Mark told the whole team that they’re gonna go with the plan they made and hope they’ll succeed all through. Harp’s mom called them up, letting them know that she was going to show up at their match and support Harp and the team. Mark and the group were surprised that Harp’s mom was gonna show, maybe they’ll get a chance to see her before or after their match.

When the gang arrived at the match, Rachel arrived for support and notify Harp that she and their mom are trying to find a good seat where they can have the perfect seeing.

The gang left for their time to show in, and they perform first hoping that they’ll succeed. Harp managed to spot Rachel and Harp’s mom, so they were glad that they were both supporting the team.

After the team perform, Canadian Pansurp performed. And it was a close one, but Suicidal Gems won, but barely. After the club, they ran to Harp’s mom and Rachel. Who congratulated Harp and the team on making it to their next win. They all went out to eat for a celebration at a Chinese buffet, and they felt relieved that they managed to make it through the second match.

Harp’s mom said thanks to the band for helping out Harp at being in the band, it means a lot for her knowing her child is finding something they’re enjoying by doing what they love.

After the dinner celebration, Harp’s mom told Harp that she’s gonna support them through the tournament and give them her blessings that Harp and the team are gonna do great in the tournament.

Season 2B
