Chapter 2 : First blood drawn
Before I could get any answers, the figure disappeared.
My heart was beating fast, and I was panting and sweating heavily. No, I am not a coward, nor a modern, logical person who remains calm after what I experienced. I don't want to say it, but I think it was a ghost, and an ugly one at that. No way, I am not going to follow that thing. I have read enough horror in my spare time to know this is the same trick used by these jerks before they lure their prey to some secluded house just to snap their necks. Now I need to think about what I need to do before it comes back.
Well, first I will try to hit it. I slowly kneel and grab a stone and start moving back toward the wall.
"Gig gug huma gaka"
I heard a faint sound coming from the other side of the house, where the husk pile was. I trembled, slowly moving along the wall to see.
I spot a light in the midst of a field. I think I should scream and ask for help. But before I could decide anything, I blinked and there it was standing between me and where the light was spearing its dark limbs to grab me. I threw the stone towards it while shouting. The stones pass through and fall, hitting a bucket placed by the husk. I start running towards the treehouse, hoping to climb up before it catches up with me. What if it could also climb?
"Giggiga hu ga", a different sound behind me from far away.
I refuse to look behind me to check if I must immediately rush to the tree house. When I closed in on the tree, I was trying to climb but realised I had never climbed a tree. I began to panic. Just then, I spot a knotted rope hanging by the tree. I take the rope and try to climb the tree. My foot slips and I scrape my knee, which begins to bleed.
An arrow flew through the spot where my head was a moment ago. I look behind me to spot three sickly, naked humans. OK, goblins.
Two of them had some sort of melee weapon in hand, and the other was holding a shortbow.
"Just give me some breathing space. Also, what is wrong with the residents of this house? Why are they not waking up despite all of this ruckus? "
I swing and start climbing again.
Two of those goblins rushed toward the tree. I managed to get my head up the ramp. I feel someone shaking the rope beneath me.
"Gaga giguk hu," the laughter as they pull the rope. An arrow shot hits my leg and I scream with pain. Somehow, they managed to climb. The three goblins shouted below. The wooden ramp was sturdy enough to hold two or three people. There was a bucket of water and a pile of large stones. I try to move a rock to throw it. The rope was still moving, so I pushed the rock with my hands and let it fall below. Soon I hear the sound of something getting crushed and a loud noise.
"Gaa..."
"Giguga hu gika gaaa..." others shouted, and an arrow flew into the tree thickets.
I quickly started pulling the rope and stacked it above the ramp. I managed to glimpse a crushed green body and a glaring goblin with red eyes, with the other one trying to rush to grab the rope, but I managed to get it out of his reach.
Both goblins were moving below the tree, waiting for me to show my face.
I threw a medium-sized rock without aim, making goblins move a bit away. For half an hour or so, they tried a lot, especially the archer, while trying to hit me, wasting a lot of arrows.
After a while, they moved into the field and disappeared from my field of view. I was spent.
"Hoot," an owl hooted, startling me for a moment. It was a decent height. Moonlight illuminated the landscape in front of me. Beyond the field, there were houses of the same structure, and beyond that, a dense jungle.

I was lying while Resting my back on tree truck. As I tried to move my injured leg, a jolt of pain ran throught my leg. It felt like hundred time being stabbed by needles.
I splash some water on my wound. My leg is aching with pain I have never experienced before neither I want to experience it ever again. The arrow made of sharpened wood, was sticking just above my ankle.
Should I remove it? I would lose consciousness for sure, maybe even die of blood loss. If not, I may lose the foot due to some infection.
"Aaahgh... Damn it."
I pull the arrow out and a lot of blood flows. I was sweating a lot form the ordeal. I tore a portion of my clothes to make a bandage and tightly wrapped it around the wound. Tightly holding the leg. My hands and the bandage turned red . It was the largest amount of red blood I had ever seen in my life.
I begin to wonder why I noticed the pain when I got some respite form those goblin. Why we human are like that? Maybe it is not a question about humanity but adrenaline rush, how it makes us fight and flight just to live another day. It wonderful how this bodily function jams the pain receptors and unnecessary thoughts. And now when I am Conscious about my injury, I giving me much more agony than usual. And there is nothing I can do about it except trying to think about something else.
What sort of world is this?
Why am I here?
One should be greeted by some good looking anime girl, why I encountering fricking dark abomination and ugly old naked midgets. It is not normal. Not even normal of the usual strange. Should remain in the room? Sure with some unknown guys snorting. Well nothing can be done now. I am going to die here on this tree.
One thing is clear: I didn't receive any game like notifications. Let's confirm this then.
I shout some game terms, which make me sound like some lunatic.
"Status"
"Skill active"
"Magic"
"Heal"
"Feel the wrath of my dominant eye, tremble ..."
Nothing. Nothing happened.
When I tried to feel mana from my surroundings, the only thing I felt was the cold breeze of mid-night.
At least I am safe here. I began to relax, and then I lost consciousness.
