Chapter 12: Chapter 11 – Cat girl has a dream

Lizz had already fallen asleep. After giving her nose a gentle smooch, I rested my head beside her chest and closed my eyes. I was expecting to have a wonderful dream, especially after all those wonderful things that happened tonight. However, as soon as I opened my eyes, everything changed.

As I awoke, the howling wind in the distance was the first thing that greeted me. The sudden cold made me shiver and I hugged myself, confused and disoriented. I looked around and saw that I was surrounded by trees, their branches and leaves appearing as if they were made of ice. The ground beneath me was covered in a thick blanket of snow and it was still falling, painting the world in ghostly white.

All I could see was snow and frost. "What kind of place is this nya?" I muttered.

Suddenly, the necklace I was wearing glowed brightly. It enveloped my body in light, which then turned into sparkling threads and wove a beautiful princess dress. I couldn't tell what material it was, but it was soft, silky and glittering. The dress was quite thin, but as soon as I had it on, the coldness dissipated, my body felt warm and comfortable again

And then, the ground rumbled, the trees moved to the sides and opened a path. The wind slightly pushed me. I took one step forward. Many many tiny orbs floated and glowed, lighting up the path, inviting me.

“Wait… isn’t this… the Northern Lands nya?”

Lizz mentioned a place of everwinter called the Northern Lands. And somewhere in this place, there was a mysterious forest with trees made of ice. And that was where the other Felicia went into many, many years ago.

Standing still won't solve anything, so I entered. As soon as I was in, the trees behind me moved again to seal the path shut. I continued my way through the icy tunnel. And after a long walk, I finally arrived.

There she was, Felicia.

Sitting on the ground was a beautiful cat girl wearing a torn rosy dress. As if straight from a fairytale, her presence was nothing short of enchanting. She was leaning forward, holding a silver long sword tightly in her grasp. However, her body was encased in a giant icy crystal, and I couldn't help but wonder if she was still alive.

I approached her, studying her closely for any signs of life. Her eyes still held a glimmer of light, and her skin still had a soft glow. These were things that living beings had, but I couldn't be sure. Fascinatingly, the blood on her body was still red and the injuries were still fresh, as if the fight had happened only minutes ago. I pressed my ear against the crystal, trying to listen, but I heard nothing. No movement, no breathing, and no heartbeat. It was as if time had stopped just for her.

I moved around and inspected the silver sword. It was beautiful and shiny. It had some runic writing on it, which I couldn't read. But then, the pronunciations of those words suddenly appeared inside my mind.

So I spoke those words out loud. There were seven in total.

Uphius, Avlelteet, Ezaartey, Ruburs, Strofaar, Dariana, and Zreo…

All the words lit up. They changed their shapes, merging together to form a single word.

“Ah!” I exclaimed. “So that's your name nya!”

I knew how to read it too. But as soon as I said it out loud, my surroundings changed again. I snapped back to reality. Lizz was right beside me, looking at me with her loving eyes.

“Good morning,” she smiled, and kissed my nose. “How was your sleep, Felicia?”

So that was just a dream…

But unlike normal dreams, the details stayed vivid in my mind. The girl trapped in ice, the runic sword… I wondered what all of it meant.

Perhaps, seeing the worry in my eyes, Lizz asked, "Is everything alright?"

So I told her about the dream.

She listened carefully, but then, when I told her about the sword.

“Wait!" Lizz exclaimed. "Can you tell me the seven words again?”

Her face was now a mixture of excitement and panic. I wondered why. But as I still remembered the words, I repeated them.

"Hold on!" Lizz quickly got up and rushed to her bookshelf to look for something. After a while, she managed to find a cute book with a starry cover.

And its name… Astrology for cats.

"Hmm," the girl flipped through the pages. “I was interested in stars a few months ago, so I bought this one. Uphius and Strofaar… they sound really familiar. And if I’m not mistaken... ah! Here they are!”

Lizz then showed me.

Uphius, Avlelteet, Ezaartey, Ruburs, Strofaar, Dariana and Zreo, they were the eight brightest stars of a constellation! And the name of the constellation was… Auraelis Aquilonia, Divine Lights of the North sky!

Upon hearing that, my mind was blown! The single word that appeared after seven words merged together was, indeed, Auraelis Aquilonia!

I had never seen this name before nor any of the preceding words. So, the fact that they appeared in both the dream and the book could not be explained by pure coincidence!

“And check this out!" Lizz exclaimed as she read the text describing the constellation. “This is the constellation associated with the Goddess of the Northern Lands, Aquilonyan. The stars are arranged in an order to look like a snowflake, with six outer stars surrounding another star in the middle. Some folks also believe that this constellation is the reflection of the Goddess herself, watching over the cat people who live in the ever-winter lands of the North.”

Stars? Snowflake? Arrangement?

As soon as I heard about how the stars were arranged in that constellation, I immediately remembered something and grabbed my pendant to check. And there it was, the seven light dots shining inside, representing the entire Auraelis Aquilonia constellation! So that was the secret hidden inside Felicia's pendant!

But... the question was...

"What is the meaning of all this nya?” 

“Felicia, they say that dreams can be some sort of guidance from the divine. So maybe something is waiting for you there, in that place?”

Lizz made up an explanation, but as I thought more about it, it really made sense.

“Lizz, I’m going to the Northern Lands nya!” I announced.

Upon waking up in this world, I had no purpose. But with this, my purpose had been found. I wanted to embrace my newfound destiny, and couldn't wait to uncover the mysteries of the Northern Lands.
