Chapter 17: Chapter 15 – Cat girl checks her power level

All of my seven stars lined up to form a snowflake pattern, but none of them shone. Not even one star was awakened.

"Impossible!" Cleo exclaimed. "Can you try again? There has to be at least one shining!"

But no matter how long I stared into the Star Mirror, nothing changed. I even pricked my finger again and again, but the result remained the same. The stars, they were all mocking me with their stubborn refusal to shine.

"Argh! This damn mirror is broken!" Cleo stood up, furious. She then pricked her own finger and dripped blood into the Star Mirror.

I watched and waited nervously. Time felt like an eternity. My hopes were raised, only to be crushed when Cleo announced that the artifact was working perfectly.

So the Star Mirror was not broken. It was me. I was the broken one. The strength of a constellation is irrelevant if none of the stars are awakened. Even babies have at least one star.

"Could it be... that I have been cursed by gods nya?" I asked.

But Cleo rejected that idea right away. "Hey, don't forget that I found you in the temple of Aquilonyan. If you are cursed, there's no way the Goddess would let you sleep peacefully in her holy territory like that!"

So then, what was the problem here?

Cleo scratched her head and thought for a long time. She kept moving back and forth while I continued using the Star Mirror again and again.

And then, after a while, another theory came up.

Constellation power comes from stars and blessings from the gods, while bloodline skills are inherited traits, passed down from parents. Normally, they are two separated things. But in the case of DeathWhizkersz, they intertwine. That is because their bloodline skill is always Awakening. This skill is the reason for the automatic activation of all seven stars in Auraelis Aquilonia.

After a while, the results came back. Unlike with the Star Mirror, Cleo could see my Bloodline info in the form of color that the orb was displaying.

It was white, a pure white color.

Cleo looked at the crystal orb, and I could see her eyes widen in disbelief.

"How is this possible?" she exclaimed.

"Cleo? What does this mean nya?" I asked.

"Blank," she answered. "Felicia, you have no bloodline skill..."

And with that, I finally understood. It all made sense now. Without Awakening, no wonder why the stars didn't shine.

But Cleo seemed to be worrying about something else now. Out of nowhere, "Felicia, what... are you?" she looked at me and asked. The way her eyes narrowed and her face turned serious made me feel somewhat uncomfortable.

But Cleo just stared at me. And for a brief moment, everything turned silent. The air felt extremely heavy.

I thought she was about to do something to me. But then, "Nah, never mind, I was just thinking too much." Cleo shook her head and sighed. "I'm sorry, this isn't something that I can explain with my current knowledge. But don't worry, I will try my best to figure this out for you. I know some high scholars at Lunaria who can investigate this."

Hearing that, I heaved a sigh of relief. Cleo was really scary there! That being said, I had total trust in Cleo. She was the one who brought me back, treated me with care and kindness. I was sure that she would be able to help me figure out my situation.

And then, just right after we concluded the constellation and bloodline check, the priest knocked on our door.

"Mrs. Lucarias, the Grand Inquisitor is here."

"Yes, we are coming," Cleo replied.

The Grand Inquisitor, he was the second reason for us to come here.

"Alright, let's go," Cleo turned to me and whispered. "Hey, do you still remember what I told you before we got here?"

"Yes!' I replied. "Outside is the man who is not to be trusted nya. I must not answer any questions from this untrustworthy person without your permission nya."

"Good girl!" Cleo smiled and patted my head. She then escorted me to the church's main hall.

But now, knowing that Cleo was the captain of the Calvary Knights, I couldn't help but feel curious. After all, for even someone like Cleo to be so cautious, who exactly was this 'untrustworthy fellow'?

Suddenly, a crushing force struck me mercilessly from nowhere. The pressure was so overwhelming and heavy, it felt as though the very air was being squeezed out of my lungs. My mind spun in disorientation. A dizzying nausea consumed me. I desperately clung to Cleo's arm, my body trembling with the effort of simply remaining upright. This was no mere discomfort, this was a deadly force that threatened to crush me at any moment!

I almost fainted on the spot, but luckily, Cleo interfered.

"Elemiah, what the hell are you doing?" she shouted in anger. "Withdraw your aura right now!"

The pressure on me was lifted. I felt lighter. As I looked up, I could see him, the man who cannot be trusted!

The Grand Inquisitor was tall, very young and of slim build, wearing a white robe adorned with intricate golden embroidery and holding a big holy book. His golden cross earrings glinted in the light. The priests beside him all bowed their heads respectfully.

"Oh, sorry, I am not skilled at controlling my own power." Elemiah replied. He kept staring at me, his powerful gaze sharp like a dagger.
