Chapter 6: (S1) Ch5: Bedtime story

World: Alestra

Outside the window, it was dark, meaning Amira was out for the whole day. She then wakes up, she was laying down on her bed when she sat up quickly with a startled expression, panting heavily as if she just did an exercise. Well, who wouldn't, after experiencing death once. '...now I'm in my room...'

"Amira!" Suddenly, she was hugged tightly by an adult person with black hair and eyes, who seems to be very worried. It is her father, Linel Dietrich. "Are you feeling well!?"

"...umm, papa, what happened? Is there something wrong?" Amira wondered, not understanding the problem, while struggling to escape from her father's embrace. And, she thought. '...it's too tight.'

Linel takes a deep breath, calms down, and slowly released her, transfered his hands on her cheeks, then asked worryingly "...do you...not remember anything?"

"Remember what?" Amira's expression clearly says that she doesn't know, as Linel smiles, trying to reassure her. 

"Well, some bad guy tried to take you away from me. But don't worry now because your papa is here." Linel hugs her again, but gently this time, while caressing her head, as Amira just interprets his words as a kidnapping attempt. She doesn't really care though, since she still thinks of everything that's happening as a dream. 

However, she flashbacks the scene before she met the bird, where her vision turned pitch black and died. She was trembling, not because of pain, but because of fear. 

Linel, who can distinguish emotions as someone who have the profession of a hero, noticed. '...my daughter is scared, how cute.'

"Amira..." He called, but she didn't replied, so he added, trying to calm her down by making a joke. "Do you know that I'm the one who ordered that bad guy? But it seems that you have something special in you that doesn't let you die."

Hearing that, Amira can't help but give him a perplexed look. "...what?"

"Ahahaha, just kidding. Well, I noticed that my cute little girl is shaking...so I guess...did you somehow calmed down? Don't forget, I'll be here for you." He said.

Amira stared at him for a moment, she doesn't understand his sense of humor. Still, it indeed work, she wasn't as scared anymore so she ignores it. She replies with a weak voice that Linel can hear. "...thank you, papa."

Linel smiled from hearing that, continuing his caress to her. Then, he seemed to be hesitant on something, as he finally added. "...my child, please don't be shocked, I have something so tell you."

"...what is it?" 

"You won't see Rene anymore, unfortunately. She was guilty about not being able to protect you, so she quits and goes back to her home."

"Oh, I see..." Amira was a bit shocked by the news, Rene had been her personal maid since she was born afterall. However, she doesn't really care either, since like just what's mentioned, this is a dream to her.

On the other side, Linel didn't expect her reaction, since he thought that she'll atleast be sad about it, but he can't sense that feeling on her. However, she's his daughter so it's not a problem. 

"Hmm, how about I tell you a story?" He then suggests. Amira agrees and listen to it. It's a story about him being chosen as a hero by the Gods to defeat the perpetrator of darkness, the demon king.

Linel was just a normal orphan, when the holy sword appeared infront of him. The church then guided him to be the humanity's hope. When he's finally ready, he started his adventure towards the Demon continent. 

Along the way, he meets his companions, and formed a party with them. Then, Linel falls in love with the healer, Amira's biological mother.

Years has passed, they finally arrived at the Demon king's castle. Everyone fought, and with the prayers of the people, they manage to defeat it. And peace has finally come.
