The living area went silent upon Yuuta's arrival as the chattering and small laughs halted abruptly.

Sayuri along with others had their gazes turned toward the tall youth who currently had a vivid surprised expression.

Before anyone could have said anything, Yuuta walked inside with hurried steps and approached Sayuri who was standing just beside her father.

Mirai and the others also followed the young man with their gazes, who acted weirdly all of a sudden.

Suddenly, they saw Yuuta snatching the trolley bag away from Sayuri's hand and circling his hand on her back before pulling her toward himself, like caging her in his hold.

Sayuri didn't know what was happening but the dangerous warmth from the man along with the smell of his deodorant blended with his manly sweat was making her heart thump violently.

She could only lean her face down to hide her shame while trying to figure out what came over him.

Fortunately, not only hers but Yuuta quelled others' curiosity too.

"I can explain what happened. Don't take Sayuri with you."

His voice was heavy yet resonated profoundly to let everyone present in the hall know what he actually thought after witnessing the scene inside.

Sayuri wanted to cover her face right at this instance because of how wrongly Yuuta had misunderstood the situation.

The maids along with Toshio and Mirai were giggling in a very low tone which didn't reach Yuuta.

And as for Hajime….

"And what if I still want to take her away even after hearing you out?"

The oceanic eyes of the handsome mature man were fixated on the boy in front who dared to put up such a bold front.

Toshio and Mirai decided to enjoy the show and Sayuri was too flabbergasted with the development to say anything.

Yuuta upon hearing the intimidating tone didn't waver from his spot as he spoke in a respectful yet determined tone.

"Then I will try to convince you."

"And what if your convincing capabilities fall short and I decide to take Sayuri back with me for her to never return?"

Now Sayuri was panicking since she couldn't comprehend why her father wasn't clearing this situation. And there she was scared too. What if Yuuta actually surrenders and asks her father to take her back?

That would be tragic in many ways!

"Umm… Yuu… "

Sayuri's voice halted as she felt Yuuta's hold on her getting rigid and his expression suddenly shifting to a colder state.

"That… I can't allow that. Sayuri is not only your daughter but someone important to me too. And with that in mind, I won't let you take her away."

The expression on the Kiriya couple along with the maids was filled with awe and admiration. Toshio was feeling his chest expanding in pride and Mirai was utterly happy to see her children's bond growing so strong.

Sayuri was stunned in disbelief to hear such a thing from the person who never seemed to be caring about her all this time. She never could have expected that Yuuta would say something like this, just to keep the promise he made to her.

Her eyes were blinking, heart was racing and mind was thrown into chaos yet amidst such turbulence her lips were curved in a small smile, which even Sayuri didn't realize.

The hall stayed silent for the next long minute as Hajime kept his gaze straight up at the boy while evaluating the credibility of his words.

And after what he has seen in these two days he can only sigh and accept his defeat.

"Fine, I won't. ."

Yuuta perplexedly blinked as Hajime didn't seem to be reluctant anymore.

Turning toward his friends, he hugged his friends as Hajime spoke in a warming tone.

"It was great meeting you two. I hope I get the opportunity to visit Japan again."

"Of course, you are always welcome brother."

The two men took their time to bid farewell before Hajime walked to his still-flustered daughter.

Bringing his hand over her head, he wanted to say many things just like he used to say whenever he left her alone. But now, it didn't seem necessary.

"Take care, Sayuri. I am really happy for you."

The slow whisper was enough to bring the dazed Sayuri back to reality as she tilted her head upward and glanced at her father.

Tears instantly started to build in her eyes since saying goodbyes wasn't something Sayuri ever preferred when it comes to the person she loves.

"I will miss you, Dad."

"I know. I will miss you too."

After giving a light hug to his darling daughter, Hajime walked up to Yuuta and spoke in a completely contrary tone.

"Take the luggage and follow me. There is something I need to talk about."
