"Things have changed, Sayuri…"

Sitting on the chair while facing the silver-haired maiden, Yuuta said with a heavy sigh in regards to her precious query.

Sayuri's worried expression spread over her face ever since she saw Yuuta's changed temperament. She knew something her father had said that brought this change. That's why she wants to hear it and let Yuuta know that he is not liable for anything at all.

She has brought him in due to her own selfishness so she doesn't want him to get bothered about anything.

After Yuuta leaned back on the chair and rested his hand on the handle, he continued.

"When you first came and requested this fake relationship, I agreed just on goodwill toward a good cause. Never have I pondered about what, not just you, but we are going to lose from this."

Sayuri's heartbeat became ever more heavy as she heard his words. The words which signify that Yuuta actually regrets getting into a contractual relationship with her.

Wordlessly, she decided to listen to him to the end, first.

Yuuta fixed his gaze on the troubled Sayuri as he spoke about what actually has made him so occupied for some time.

"Hajime-san talked about your mother and your past, Sayuri."

The expression on Sayuri's face vividly shifted to a stunned one since her father never talks about the past anymore with anyone.

Her eyes moistened up a bit due to the emotional breakdown as she clutched the edge of the bed and heard him continuing.

"That man has shared his genuine grief with me and asked me to take your responsibility…and… and here I am. Lying to him all the way. Promising something that I could never fulfill. Making fun of his emotions. Playing with his feelings… How I…"

Halting for a moment at a loss for words that couldn't describe how he is feeling at the moment, Yuuta somehow concluded what he actually deduced from all this.

"I think we have ended up doing something really terrible Sayuri…"

Yuuta also wasn't as calm as before. He was also human and being near so many distinct people, he has come to realize what it feels like to be considerate toward others.

But what Yuuta and Sayuri are doing to their parents is nothing but just utter disgusting.

Heavy drops of tears were sliding down her cheeks as Sayuri leaned her face down and shed in silence.

What Yuuta said was something Sayuri understood in the time she had spent in the Kiriya residence.

The love she got from Yuuta's parents was something she couldn't ever pay a price for. But when she thinks, it indeed was terrible to lie to those people whom she considers as her foremost.

She really has committed a great sin.

"Hey look at me… "

Suddenly a warm hand pressed against her cheek as Yuuta urged her to look in his direction after he sat beside her.

Sayuri's eyes were red and her nose was watery as she wept while being held by Yuuta. Her mind was in so much chaos because of her stupidity that she couldn't seem to find anything other than to wail out her worries.

Yuuta carefully wiped the tears off her cheeks and her eyes before he leaned forward and gently pressed her head on his chest.

With one hand on the back of her head and the other one rubbing her back steadily, he spoke in a warming tone.

"There is nothing we can redo nor any meaning to regret it now. I know we can't just stand up and tell them the truth but have trust in me and give me some time to think about how we should move forward, okay?"

Upon hearing his comforting words backed with the tone she was not familiar hearing from him, Sayuri became even more emotional as she wrapped her hands on his back and hugged him even more tightly.

Her tears never halted but the warmth she felt from Yuuta was everything she could ask for at this moment.

Yuuta sighed as the arrogant facade of Sayuri had completely crumbled down at the moment when suddenly his eyes fell on his phone which he threw after talking to Mio.

And when he saw the content on his still brightened-up screen… Yuuta's breath got choked in his throat….
