“Haa…” I let out a sight. “I guess there’s no need for me to hide it…”
“That's surprising that you can see Hiroki’s disguise.” Theresa approached a little after finding out about his skill.
“From your reaction, you want something from me, no?” The shop owner looked back at Theresa after realising what her intentions were.
“Yeah… Can your skill also tell what other things he might be hiding?” Theresa asked.
“Hm…” The shop owner thought for a bit before looking back at me, then with a grin on his face he looked back at Theresa.
“Hahahaha, You are a fun bunch!” The shop owner laughed as he said that to us. Both me and Theresa were a little confused about his sudden behaviour.
“Is something funny?” Theresa glared at me after seeing his reaction.
“That person over there holds you in a very special place of his soul, so there’s nothing to worry about, young miss.” I noticed Theresa’s cheeks blushing a little in anger after hearing what his reply was to her.
.
But before we could proceed selling our product to him, I thought about asking him regarding his skill. “By the way…”
“You want to know about my appraising skill?” The shop owner immensely guessed as I was trying to ask him.
“Yeah.”
“If you're worried about your race then you don’t need to worry about anything.” He let his own body loose as he said that to me. “My skill was given to me by my own great grandfather. So I don’t think anyone would have this kind of gift as me. Not even the king.”
“Was given to you? That's a thing?” I asked, eagerly wanting to know about his story.
“Yeah, this may sound ridiculous but my great grandfather was one of the wealthiest merchants and monster hunters in the town.” The shop owner explained. “This skill was given to me as a gift before he went missing…”
“By the way, how old was your great grandfather?”
The shop owner shrugged his shoulders. “Who knows. You may not believe me but his appearance was not that of an old man.”
“Hold on, if your great grandfather was wealthy, then how come you're in this kind of state? I’m sure he must’ve left you something, before, you know….” Theresa wondered as we continued listening to his story.
“All gone. His products, money, and everything he had left behind was all stolen.” Even though he sounded calm, I could see that he was really angry about that.
“May I ask what kind of products your great grandfather had?” Since he was a successful merchant, then that means that he must’ve had something interesting for the people of this world.
“He had many interesting things that drove most of the merchants crazy.” A smile was seen on his face as he remembered the stuff his great grandfather had. “He invented this thing called Soap. While It has a different name now, it basically does the same thing. It could clean anything dirty, starting from clothes, any many more daily household stuff.”
“Wait, he invented soap?” I asked, surprised to hear this familiar word.
“Hm?” The shop owner smiled. “You're one of the few people that pronounced soap correctly.”
This raises way too many questions about his great grandfather, but for now I should finish what I came here.
.
After we were done confirming the amount of coffee I was going to sell to him, we decided to head back out of the town so we could get enough materials for tomorrow. Since we already knew what we were looking for, it didn't take long before I collected a great amount of peeled Prinix trunks that had the same great aroma as the other ones.
Since even the smell was poisonous to everyone else, I was the only one who was peeling them off the trunk. I was being extra careful so none of the girls would be harmed.
After making sure the bags were properly closed, I washed the dagger and stored them in Aya’s dimensional pocket.
"This much should be enough." I confirmed all of the bags before putting them in the dimensional storage.
"I still can't believe that this tree is a yummy drink." Aya said after receiving back her own cloak.
“But how did you know that this, deadly poisonous tree can be made into a delicious mana potion?” Theresa asked as she was guarding our surroundings.
And I’m sure that everyone else will be interested in my answer to this kind of question. Since I already lied to them about not having memories of my previous life, I can’t just tell them that I remembered.
“I’m not sure how to describe it, but when I felt the scent of that tree, something inside me awakened.” I began explaining to them a fake story about this.
“Awakened?” Theresa wondered.
“Yeah, I'm not sure but… I feel like the ‘me’ before I died, had this kind of information.” I wanted to sound like a legit ghost who got glimpses of its past life. While I could have told them some other made up story, I felt like this would be more believable to them.
“Well, if you say so…” After I made sure that Theresa wouldn't become suspicious of me, we decided to head back to the town.
But while we were on our way to our house, I could feel the gazes of everyone staring at us. Even though Adventurers were a normal thing in this place, the number of people staring at us was unusually high.
“Is something going on...?” I wondered after thinking about the reasons behind this kind of situation.
“I feel like I’m being stared at more than usual…” Even Theresa noticed the stares of the people... And our questions were answered by the shop owner I was planning to sell coffee to.
“That's probably because of your hair color.” He said after explaining to him our situation.
“So that's what it was… Well I figured that having a rare hair color would be a problem…” Since this was another world, that kind of color would probably stand out.
“White hair is not a rare color though.” He responded back to me.
“It's not rare? Then why?” I asked.
“White hair is the common color of all demons, or that's what I have heard about them.” He stared at me for a moment before replying back.
“Then, doesn't that make us a threat to this town then?”
“I wouldn't say a threat since most of the commoners have never seen a demon in the last few decades.”
“So no matter what you do, you can’t hide your hair color?” Theresa suddenly added after listening to him. She didn't seem bothered by it even though her hair is slowly turning white because of my skill.
“That's why you lads should be careful not to get mistaken for demons.”
"We'll be careful. Thank you for your advice."
"Anyway, I hope you didn't come here simply to ask, no?" The shop owner looked me straight in the eyes as he said that.
"Of Course not." Aya brought out a few bags of prepared coffee and explained to him the process of how a proper coffee was made.
"Hmh, that is quite interesting and easy to make this 'co..ffee'." He was rubbing his chin as he was trying to pay attention to all of the steps of making coffee.
“After you finish preparing the coffee, you should tell your customers to drink it slowly.” I suggested after I prepared a drink.
Once I received the first payment of bags of coffee, we decided to head to the guild so Aya and Theresa could get any quests for today.
I wasn't sure whether coffee was going to sell in this world, but I still kept my hopes up for my new product.
“Ouch!” Aya reacted after someone accidentally bumped into her body.
From what I could tell, it was an unusually young guy wearing classy clothes and a weird bonnet on top of his head. His blonde hair seemed in the way of his eyes after bumping into Aya.
“Watch where you’re going!” Next to this young guy was another man wearing expensive looking armor and a shiny sword that looked almost the same as the one from a chosen hero.
“A-ah, s-sorry!” Aya apologised after looking at the angry look on that guy’s face.
“Sorry won’t do after injuring young master! Pay up!” Both Theresa and I stared at this guy as we were preparing to hit him after threatening Aya.
“Alfred, it's okay.” With a calm look on his face, the young boy prevented the man called Alfred from yelling at Aya.
“Yes, young master!” Alfred immediately straightened up his back, waiting for further orders from this young boy.
And after gently fixing his blonde hair with the back of his hand, the young boy approached Aya and slightly bowed to her.
“I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going. Could you forgive me?” The young boy looked up at Aya after saying such words to her.
“I-its okay, I wasn’t looking where I was going as well so you don't need to apologize!” Aya’s eyes widened in confusion after seeing someone of his rank bow down to her. Even though I didn't like how Alfred acted, I calmed myself down and decided to see where this was going.
“If that's so, then I’ll be excusing myself.” The young boy left after saying that with a calm smile on his face. And from behind him, Alfred followed him just like a bodyguard would. But as he was leaving, our eyes caught with each other until he turned his head around.
“...”
“...Hiroki?” Aya called out to me after noticing that I was being quiet.
“Let's go.” I said to them.
.
..
…
….
The guild was a lot busier than usual, and from what I could see, it was because of quests that were piling up on the board. Many adventurers were also trying to pick up quests or finding a suitable party for them.
And after waiting in line for a bit, it was finally our turn to talk with the receptionist.
“Aya, Theresa! ...And... you?” She seemed excited the moment she saw Theresa and Aya, but the moment she saw me, her smile withered away.
“I hope we’re not bothering you.” I tried being polite as I said that.
Since I didn't want to get any more suspicious around the guild, it would be the best to act like this.
“No, It's my job to help adventurers and answer any questions they may have.” She proudly said back to me without a care. I could already tell from the tone of her voice that she didn’t like me.
“So. What brings you here together with those girls?” She tried intimidating me with her aura as she asked me that question. Even though it wasn’t affecting me, I could feel how she truly felt.
“Since I’m planning on selling a new product in this town, I hired these girls to guard me while I get new materials.” While I basically lied to her, these girls are bound to me so I can’t really be that far away from them.
“Can’t you put a quest to have the materials gathered for you? That way you won’t be in danger.” She provoked me once again with her look while being suspicious of me.
“You should already know that I don’t have enough money to put up a quest.” I tried brushing it off with another simple lie. But that still didn't convince the receptionist.
“So you don't have money to put up a quest, but you have enough money to hire a high ranking adventurer and a prodigy?”
Since she didn't want to believe me, Theresa stepped in and tried explaining the situation. “I was the one who wanted to keep him in check in case he did anything suspicious. So for now, there’s nothing to worry about.”
The receptionist looked at me once again before letting out a sigh. “If you say so, then okay.”
I was a little surprised that Theresa would step in like that to defend me.
As I was looking at Theresa, she looked back at me, linking our eyes together for a moment before she looked the other way with a slight blushing cheeks. If I had to guess what she would say right now, it would be
‘I only did this for Aya, so don't get any weird ideas.’ Or that's what I was getting from the way she was acting.
“So what can I help you with today? I really want to talk with you a little longer, but as you can see, I am really busy. There have been too many quests coming from another town for help.” The receptionist explained the busy situation in this guild as she was taking a small break from all of the work she had been dealing with.
“Is it an emergency?” Theresa immediately came a little closer so she could know more details about this.
“More or less.. It’s an emergency for that town. While this may not seem like our problem, there is a chance that monsters might come this way as well.” The receptionist said as more adventurers were lining up from behind us.
“A dungeon outbreak?” Theresa’s eyes narrowed to slit as she asked this question.
“...unfortunately, yes. But you don't need to worry about that. There are quite a lot of adventurers who are about to head to that city…. But based on your look, it seems like you’ll go there as well…” The receptionist stared at the strong willed Theresa who wanted to know more information about this emergency.
“That's a given!” Theresa’s voice deepened a little after giving her confirmation.
“What about Aya... and him?” The receptionist asked as she looked straight into my eyes.
“They are coming with me as well. In case something happens, she can always depend on me. And you said it yourself that she is a prodigy as a newbie.” Theresa said.
“Without a doubt I believe in your abilities, but what about that merchant? I’m sure that he’ll die if he were to step on the battlefield with monsters?”
“I may not seem like it but I am really good at running. And I have a few tricks up my sleeve so I won't die that easily.” I wryly smiled as I said that to the receptionist who was looking at me with a little pity.
“...What about you Aya? You’ve been really quiet.” The receptionist looked at Aya who was standing by my side.
“I’m going with Hiroki.” Seeing that Aya didn't want to be separated from me, the receptionist finally gave up on asking any more questions.
She put down her glasses then looked at Theresa.
"There are no requirements for this quest, meaning that any adventurer is more than welcome to participate in this fight. Since we don't know the exact number of the monsters, we are preparing ourselves for the worst."
I’ve never heard of monsters bursting out of a dungeon in those few games I have played, that's why I don’t know much about this cause.
“Is there any specific cause for those monsters to suddenly attack?”
She looked at me for suddenly asking a question like that, but knowing her position as a receptionist, she knew that this was part of her job to answer me.
“We have no records of why a large group of monsters would come out of a dungeon. But we do know that the damages they cause are fatal.”
What I have noticed is that wild monsters are different from those within a dungeon. I suspect that monsters living inside a dungeon can not escape or leave the dungeon. And wild monsters don’t even come close to those dungeons unless it's a powerful one.
I don’t want to point out false or imaginary information from what I know from my world, but there is a high chance that the reason behind this dungeon outbreak... or a being from this world pulling the strings.
It could be a human who wants to destroy that city, or perhaps even a demon.
“Well, anyway. From what information we have received, the fight will occur in one week or so. That's why there’s no need to rush.”
But even after saying that, Theresa didn't want to just stand by and wait until the monsters would make their move.
“That doesn't matter! We're moving today!” Theresa didn't want to waste any more time and immediately wanted to go to that town.
“We have one week to prepare ourselves, so why don’t we prepare our gear before heading to that town? I’m sure that most of the blacksmiths and shops would either be closed or really busy since a lot of adventurers would be there.” I tried suggesting this to Theresa so she wouldn't act without any thoughts behind it.
And thankfully, after listening to me, she thought to herself for a bit then looked at me. “That's true.”
Even the receptionist was a little relieved from Theresa’s change of mind.
“By the way, may I know the name of that town? Since today we were planning on gathering some herbs and materials from the forest. We wouldn't want to approach the dungeon outbreak.” I asked.
“That's the town to the west called ‘Holl-Town’.” The receptionist informed me.

“Hey! For how long do you think we’re supposed to wait here!? We have places to be!!”
“Yeah! We’ve been waiting here for almost a day!! Move!!”
“What's taking so long?!”
We began hearing adventurers complaining about waiting behind us. There were a lot of them lining up one after another, and I could see that they were getting impatient.
“I think we should get going.” Aya held my hand before we could move out of the way of the other adventurers.
“I’ll see you soon.” Theresa also left after saying those words to her.
“Good luck~”
.
While we were on our way out of the guild, I could feel Aya’s hand gripping me a little tighter than usual. I was sure that there was something going on with her since she doesn't usually act that way.
“Did something happen? You don’t look so good?”
“...Holl-Town is near the village where my parents died…” Aya looked down as we continued walking forward.
“I’m sure that all of those adventurers can manage on their own, so we don’t really need to head there if it has bad memories for you.”
While that fat pig was no longer alive, that didn’t prevent Aya from having sudden memories of that place. If she doesn't want to go there, then I will respect her decision.
“Going there isn't necessary for us, so if it bothers you then we won't go.” Theresa also said to Aya without looking at her. She was trying to act kind of cool in front of Aya as she was saying to her.
“N-no, I don’t want to hold everyone back! I was wondering if we could pass by around my house and give a proper farewell to my parents.”
Both me and Theresa gently smiled after hearing Aya say that without breaking into tears. That was another sign that she had grown much stronger compared to the past.
..
After managing to head out of the town, we began our search for more coffee trees around the forest in the east. While searching, I was trying to be more cautious than usual since the smell of the tree could potentially harm Aya and Theresa. But just to make sure, they got themselves some masks in case we accidentally got too close to them.
Looking for them took a little longer than I had thought, but eventually we managed to find some coffee trees.
Even though Aya offered to help me, I refused since it would be dangerous in case something happened. Another reason behind that, is because Aya and Theresa would be guarding the area while I gathered the necessary materials for this.
“It has gotten quite late, should we head back?” Noticing that the sun was setting, we decided to head back to the town. Another reason behind my decision is because monsters are more dangerous during the night. I am sure that all of us could kill them without a sweat but it wouldn't hurt anyone to be careful.
“Huh… Did something fall on my hair? Why is my hair white? ” As the wind waved Theresa’s hair, she managed to see the white parts of her hair from the back.
This was one of the things that I was trying to hide from her…
“That may have been my fault…” As she was looking at her hair, she immediately turned her eyes towards me.
“What do you mean?” Her eyes calmly looked at me as she was holding her own hair on the palm of her hand.
“Well… the day you first attacked me, we accidentally formed a link together. Your hair turning white is proof of that, just like Aya…” I was expecting her to get angry at me after I noticed her fist clenching for a bit.
“Is that so?” But then she looked the other way and continued walking towards the town.
“She took that more easily than I had thought.” I said to myself as I was looking at her slowly walk away.
“What about you Aya, do you perhaps not like the color of your hair?” She must have noticed long ago how her hair was slowly turning white. But I’ve never seen her react to why or how it happened.
“No, I actually like my hair this way. It feels like I'm closer to Hiroki.” Her face brightened with a smile after saying that to me.
While she did not show any signs of discomfort, her accepting the unusual white color of her hair was relieving.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure that Theresa also feels the same about her hair color.” I wasn't sure whether Aya was conscious about it or not, but the way she acted warmed me up a lot. Even the way she was talking was becoming much smoother and more confident.
“You’re really cute, aren’t you?” I gently rubbed her head as I said that to her. And her cheeks blushed a little while enjoying the massage on her head.

....
….
After I worked all night preparing the coffee, I finally managed to make around 150 bags of coffee grinded to dust. To be honest, this was kind of fun and challenging to make since I didn't have anything to do during the night.
“Were you working all night on that?” Suddenly I heard Theresa’s voice coming from behind me.
“Yeah, since I can’t sleep I decided to work on these instead.”
“Oh, right. You did mention that.”
When I looked around, I noticed that her hair was fully white just like Aya’s. Even though she was wearing her usual work clothes, her appearance was actually stunning.
“Your hair is fully white…”
“And whose fault do you think that is?”
Once again she didn't seem that angry about her hair color, but that didn't mean that she would be happy about it.
“I think that your hair looks much cooler this way.” Aya also entered the room while saying such words to Theresa.
“You think so?” Said Theresa while slightly brushing her own hair with the tips of her fingers.
“Yeah, you look much stronger and cooler.”
Theresa’s cheeks slightly blushed from Aya’s praises as she continued playing with her hair.
I was a little speechless from how Aya managed to embararrass Theresas with such words.
“Shall we head out?”
As we were on our way to the shop owner, I saw a lot of people gathering at the entrance of his shop while calling out for something. And at the entrance, was the shop owner who was trying to calm them down.
Did something happen to him?
But as I was getting closer to him, he finally saw me and rushed towards me.
“Y-you’re finally here!! Ever since the smell of this coffee got outside of my shop, people started burging here and demanding more of that drink! You have to sell me more of that coffee!!”
His eyes were frustrated as he was trying to buy more coffee from me. I was glad that coffee instantly became popular with the people of this town.
“Actually I was on my way to check on how coffee was going. And it seems like it was a success. I can offer you 40 bags of coffee for today with the same price.”
“F-forty bags with the same price?! I was sure that you were going to raise the price!”
“I plan on selling it in other shops as well, that's why I’m trying to keep a stable price until more people will buy it.”
“That's unbelievable to think of selling a popular drink at such a price. Did God of fortune send you?” The shop owner widened his eyes in respect after hearing my reasons for pricing the coffee.
“No, I don’t think I am. This is just my way of doing business.”
While passing through the people who were demanding to buy more coffee, we entered inside his shop and gave him 40 bags of coffee, ready to be made into delicious warm drinks.
Setting up the other materials and cups, was a young girl who seemed determined to sort things out. Even when I brought the bags out, she immediately began preparing the coffee really fast without making any mistakes.
“She’s my daughter Jena. She has been helping with the coffee since yesterday because I couldn't manage to handle a large amount of people at the same time. She may seem young, but her learning skills are top notch.”
It didn't take long before she started serving coffee to the customers who were waiting outside of this small shop. Just like before, she knew how to serve every customer with a calm look on her face and her fast hands.
“I’m surprised that she learned to brew coffee this fast.”
“I’m proud of my daughter after all.” A smile appeared on his face as he was looking at his daughter.
Since there were a lot of people waiting in front of the shop, he went to the back of his shop and brought out a bag of coins.
“Thanks to your product, my shop has been bluming with a lot of customers. Here are a total of ten silver coins from all of the sales I did yesterday.” After confirming the amount of coins inside the bag, Aya put it inside her dimensional storage.
If I am correct, then 10 silver coins are around 110,000 yen. It's a little hard for me to believe that this was my first successful trade I have ever done.
(Author’s note: 110,000 yen = 1,000 dollars.)
“I never expected that your drink would be this popular. But since you’re selling it so cheap, and the taste is delicious, then it's no wonder.” Theresa said after we were walking outside of the shop.
“I also didn't expect it to get popular since this kind of drink is basically unknown to everyone.”
On the next day, we continued selling more coffee bags to the same shop owner, seeing how much this kind of drink was being bought. Even around the streets, I could hear random people talking about it.
“Have you heard of that mana potion?”
“You mean that dark colored one?”
“Yes, that one!”
“I heard it's not only delicious but also very cheap.”
Another group of old people were also currently drinking a freshly made cup of coffee which they seemed to enjoy.
“A nice day, isn't it?”
“Yeah, my body has been feeling much lighter lately. How about building the basement you always are talking about?”
“Really? That’d help a ton.”
.
Looking at all these faces enjoying coffee was actually really satisfying and relaxing.
Yesterday, I also managed to sell coffee bags to some other shop owners that the guild suggested to me. Their conditions were the same as the ‘shop owner’ I first met. But they started coming to their shops after learning about the coffee.
Right now I was on my way to sell the last few coffee bags to the last location written on the list. It was a far away farmacy shop that was at the end of the street. The place around there was also gloomy, and there didn't seem to be a lot of people.
“That place looks suspicious…” Theresa said as we were getting closer to that shop which really seemed suspicious. It's like those kinds of shops where you could find dark markets.
“Is anyone here?” I asked after entering the shop.
And just like the outer appearance, the inside of this shop was just as gloomy. The place wasn't clean enough and there was a lot of dust flying around.
“Uhh… yeah, here~” And suddenly from underneath me I heard a sweet and tired voice of a little girl.
When I looked down, I found a blonde little girl with pointy ears and sleepy eyes. I could tell that she was sleeping just now.
“How may I help you?” After seeing that there were three people inside, she rubbed her eyes then tried being polite.
“I was suggested by the guild that you may be interested in the product I’m currently selling.”
“Oh, that? Sorry but I’m not interested. If you won’t buy anything, then please leave.” But before I could show her the drink I wanted to sell, she immediately let out an annoyed sigh and tried heading back to sleep.
Seeing that I still wanted to convince her to take a look at my coffee, Theresa spoke. “If she’s not interested in your coffee, then you don’t need to beg her.” Her voice seemed a little annoyed from the way the little girl was acting to me.
“Wait, did you say coffee? T-that mana potion?!”
The blonde girl immediately rushed towards me and tried grabbing me, but I dodged her since she wouldn't be able to touch me.
“Ouch!” She fell to the ground, but she immediately got up without a care.
“Why did you dodge, and also!!~” Her eyes were tearing up a bit from falling with her face on the floor.
“Yes, I wanted to sell a few bags of coffee in your shop as well. If that’s fine with you.”
“Y-yes! I’ll definitely buy coffee from you! I never thought that I would get this rare chance.”

At a certain mansion, in a large room was a young boy with blonde hair. The way he was writing was rather smooth and quick at the same time. He didn't hesitate when reading the papers while several maids and butlers were standing by in that same room.
At the entrance of the door was Alfred acting as a guard while making sure that nothing unusual was going on.
Suddenly, a knock was heard from the door and in the next moment, the voice of a guy called that seemed a little hurried. “Young master, may I come in?”
“Come in.” The young boy replied as he continued signing up documents.
“Yes, thank you!” Inside entered a guy who was carrying a bunch of other documents.
“I hope that you coming here won't be a waste of my time.” The way the young boy talked while writing at the same time was intimidating, which caused that guy to swallow his saliva.
“N-not at all young master!”
“What is it then, you can see that I don’t have much time.”
Not wanting to upset the young master, that delivery guy started searching for something, until he put message paper on his desk while bowing.
The young boy put down his pen then began reading the content of that message. But as he was reading the message, a grin appeared on his face.
“Clear my schedule for tomorrow. Seems like I’ve found something interesting.” The young boy placed the letter down as he looked outside of his window.
