Chapter 13: Chapter 12. Nami Got The Devil Fruit

"How are we going to enter the Grand Line?" Kaya asked curiously, looking at Nami who was busy going through many maps.

"We have two ways, we can either go from Calm Belt or we can go from The Reverse Mountain," Nami replied without even looking at Kaya. "Though I'm sure that Alex has already planned the way for us."

"Hmmm." Kaya nodded her head, hearing those words. Knowing Alex, it was reasonable that he had already selected a way for them. "What are you doing there, Nojiko?" Kaya turned her head toward Nojiko who was at the backside of the ship.

"Mmmm?" Nojiko, who was busy eating a tangerine, came out of the backside and looked at them with a questioning look. "What happened?" After swallowing down the pieces of tangerine, she asked them curiously.

"Give me some pieces as well." Kaya walked toward her and took some pieces from her hand before putting them inside her mouth. "Mmm. Still tasty like always."

"Hey, you two!" Nami called them out with an irritated expression. "Leave some pieces for me as well. Don't hog it all for yourself."

Kaya and Nojiko chuckled at her behaviour however they didn't deny her wish. Nojiko peeled another tangerine and handed it to Nami.

They sat beside her and turned to look at the multiple maps that were on the sofa. The maps belonged to the multiple islands located in East Blue. There was even a map of Logue town among those maps.

After some time, Alex finally landed on the ship. He made his way toward the trio of the girls and sat on the sofa, next to Kaya. "What are you all doing?" He asked with a curious expression, looking at the pile of maps.

"Nothing important. I was just making sure that no island of East Blue was left in my collection of maps since from now on, I'll put my attention on the islands that are present in the Grand Line." Nami replied with a small smile before she began to collect those maps and went inside the ship to leave them in her room.

"Why don't you lay down and get some rest? I'm sure that you are quite tired now." Kaya said with a smile and patted her thighs, looking quite innocent.

"You are right, I am feeling quite tired." Saying that he put his head on her thighs causing her smile to widen in happiness. She began to caress his head tenderly. 

"Which way are we going to take to head to the Grand Line?" Nojiko asked, trying her best to hold herself back so she wouldn't smack the head of the girl who was acting intimate with him once again.

"We'll be taking the Reverse Mountain to enter the Grand Line. I need to meet someone there to get some things." Alex replied with a small smile, enjoying Kaya's massage. "By the way, do any of you wish to eat the meat of a whale? A giant whale to be more precise."

"Whale meat?" Nojiko muttered with a surprised expression. "I would love to eat it." She could already imagine the delicious taste and juiciness of the meat.

"I would love to eat it too." Kaya also agreed immediately, not seeing any reason to deny it. She was very curious about the taste of whale meat.

After talking with them for some more time, Nojiko went back to the library room to continue her study about new plants. Alex on the other hand fell asleep while Kaya kept caressing his head with a joyous smile on her face.

~~In Marine Headquarters~~

"This is what we learnt from the Marine officers who were stationed in Logue town." The Commodore explained everything to the Fleet Admiral in a respectful tone.

"You can go now. Tell Smoker to take care of his health first before making any rash decision." The Fleet Admiral spoke in an authoritative tone and dismissed the Commodore.

"Sigh." He massaged his temples with a tired expression on his face.

"Bwahaha, why are you so stressed Sengoku? You should eat some rice crackers." Garp laughed out loud while munching on the rice crackers that he took from Sengoku's table earlier.

"Garp!! You bastard! Give them back to me." Sengoku shouted angrily and grabbed the collar of Garp's clothes. Though it only caused Garp to laugh even more.

"You don't take things seriously, Garp." Sengoku, after taking away the packet of rice crackers, sat back in his seat and spoke in a serious tone. "The entire Logue town was in chaos in the morning and that was all because of that bastard Alex."

"Bwahaha…." Garp laughed out once again. "What did those 5 bastards say about this?" He asked with a curious look.

"They are our superiors, Garp. You need to show some respect to them." Sengoku spoke in a calm tone. Though he instantly became angry when he noticed that Garp was not paying any attention to them. "They have told me to increase his bounty and put some bounty on the rest of his crew members."

"They are very eager to make him one of the seven warlords, huh?" Garp muttered under his breath and continued to munch on rice crackers. "What about that Marine girl officer? What did they say about her?"

Sengoku was quiet for some time as he didn't want to speak about it, however, in the end, he decided to tell him. "They told me to put a bounty on that girl as well. Since Alex has publicly declared that she was his crew member, they believe that it will affect the reputation of the Marines negatively."

"Those Bastards!!" Garp gritted his teeth in anger however he soon calmed down and began to munch on his rice crackers silently.

"This Era is starting to get wild, especially with the presence of that bastard Alex. He seems to be planning something very big, however, the 5 Elders don't plan to take any action against him." Sengoku muttered with a tired expression and rubbed his sore eyes. Sometimes, he feels that he should just retire as he is getting too old for this stress level.

~~Evening~~

"Hey, are you awake now?" Alex sat on one of the sofas and looked at the unconscious Tashigi who was acting quite decently. "If you don't open your eyes now, I'll throw you in the sea."

"I'm awake now!" Tashigi instantly opened her eyes and looked at Alex with a furious expression.

"Haha, it's good that you woke up otherwise I would have thrown you out," Alex said in a serious tone, causing Tashigi to glare at him since she knew that he might do something like this to her.

"Why did you kidnap me?" Tashigi calmed down her anger and asked. She has heard that kidnapper's words, however, she doesn't believe that such a big-time pirate would want her to join him.

"It's quite simple. I want you to join my crew." He replied with a small smile and began to pat her head. "There, there, you shouldn't get angry over such small matters, you know."

"Take off your hands!" She growled in anger and shame, shaking her head many times so he would remove his hand from her head.

"Nah, not gonna do that," Alex said with an amused chuckle. "What are you gonna do? Hit me or bite me to death?" He asked, laughing amusingly.

"Take off these ropes from my body, I'll slaughter you…" Tashigi angrily spoke with her cheeks getting red in shame. Since her childhood, no one has ever treated her like this. This bastard must die for humiliating her like this.

"I'm not interested in taking off those ropes, little Tashigi. After all, you look very beautiful like this." He said with a smile while looking at her body from head to toe. His gaze made her both embarrassed and ashamed however she could do nothing but grit her teeth in resentment.

Alex was about to say something more however he sensed a presence coming to his ship. "It seems that today you are going to see something very good, little Tashigi." He smiled at her and then walked out of the living room.

On the deck, he saw the trio of girls sitting on the sofa with closed eyes. Even though he had significantly lowered their training time to only 3 hours a day, it was still proving to be very complicated for them.

Shaking his head, he looked in the sky, waiting for that thing to arrive. In less than 2 minutes, a silhouette of a bird appeared above the ship which threw two bundles on the ship before flying away.

He Caught those two things which were a newspaper and some bounty posters attached to it. Quickly opening the bounty posters, he looked at them with a happy smile.

"Hey, girls," Alex shouted with a smile and walked toward their sofa. The trio of girls opened their eyes and looked at him with a confused expression. "See this, you all have gotten a bounty on your head." He quickly handed them their respective bounty posters.

"The previous sleepiness in their eyes immediately disappeared and it was replaced by an energetic expression as they looked at their bounty posters.

Nami has gotten a 10 million bounty on her head. There was a photo of her when she was inside that dark valley with the unconscious Tashigi in her hand.

Nojiko has gotten a 30 million bounty on her head. She had a photo where she was seen smiling lightly while multiple vines were near her face.

Kaya has gotten 50 million bounties on her head which became the second highest in the entire East Blue after Alex's bounty. There was a picture of her where her hands were covered in golden light.

"How come I have a lower bounty than Kaya? I defeated so many Marine officers without even lifting one of my fingers." Nojiko spoke in an irritated tone. She threw the bounty poster on the ground in anger however she instantly picked it up again and began to fold it nicely.

"She fought with Smoker who was a logia devil fruit user so, of course, her bounty would be higher," Alex said with an amused smile and turned to look at Nami who was brooding some distance away from them. "Don't worry, Nami. You'll get your chance to increase your bounty in the future."

"I have the lowest bounty in the crew…." She was unhappy about this however her expression changed when she saw the bounty poster in Alex's hands. "She hasn't even joined us yet she got a bounty on her head…?" The other two girls were confused as well when they saw the bounty poster.

"The World Government and the Marines are not some good guys, keep that in your mind." Alex reminded them with a serious expression. "I'm sure that higher-ups in the World Government thought that it would affect Marine reputation negatively so they decided to issue a bounty on her head."

Nami and Nojiko looked at each other, confusion could be seen in their eyes. Their mother was a Marine Officer too however she was a very kind soul so this was proving a little difficult to believe.

"Don't think much about it now. You'll be able to find out many things in the future which surely change your view about those two large organizations." Alex said with a calm expression. "Anyway, you three should rest for now since the Reverse Mountain is still some distance away." Saying that he handed them the newspaper and walked inside the ship, not before showing them his new bounty which was directly increased by 100 million berries.

Entering the living room, he saw Tashigi still struggling to remove the rope from her body. "You would never be able to get out of it, little Tashigi," Alex spoke with an amused smile and walked forward to sit on the sofa.

"By the way, here, this is something for you." Alex put the bounty poster in front of her so she could have a good look.

"W-What….?" Tashigi's eyes widened in anxiety, looking at the bounty poster on which her photo was posted alongside a 5 million berries reward. "Why….? I didn't join your pirate crew so why? Everyone knows that I got kidnapped then why? What did I do wrong?"

Alex calmly observed the various expressions that were appearing on Tashigi's face. Her anxiety slowly disappeared and it was replaced by a painful expression along with tears.

"You are asking why? Well, it is quite simple. You were not more important than the Marine and World Government's reputation. For them, you were just an unnecessary Marine officer who would have brought more shame to the Marine if they let the world know that you were kidnapped even though this town had so many Marine officers along with a captain who was trained in the Elite camp at the Marine Headquarters." Alex calmly explained, not paying any attention to the crying girl.

"T-Then if I'm a waste, why did you kidnap me? Why do you want me as your crew member?" She asked with a trembling tone, her tears kept falling on the ground continuously.

Instead of saying something, he stood up and walked near her before removing the ropes that were restricting her movements. "I believe that you are very talented, Tashigi. You only need a good teacher and a good training place to reach the top with your sword alone."

Tashigi's body trembled slightly when she heard those words, filled with absolute trust. Even she never believed that she would be able to reach the position of a captain, let alone become one of the top powerhouses.

"I'm giving you two options now, Tashigi. You can either join me to reach the top or you can leave the ship and live the way, you want." Alex spoke with a serious expression and then he began to walk out of the living room, leaving her all alone inside to think about the choice that she wanted to make.

Walking outside, he took out the devil fruit that he had gained recently. "Nami, this is the devil fruit that I believe will suit you best." He shouted in a loud tone causing the girls to wake up.

Nami who heard his words immediately walked toward him, her eyes full of excitement. "What kind of devil fruit is this?" Even though she knew that he would never give her bad devil fruit, she still wanted to know before eating it, unlike the other two girls.

"This is a paramecia devil fruit called bari-bari no mi. It will make you a barrier human." Hearing his words, Nami's previous excitement about this devil fruit went downhill. "Hey, don't think that it's a bad devil fruit. This is one of the best paramecia-type devil fruits which can provide you with a lot of defence. Not only that, it can even provide you with offensive abilities."

"Really…?" Nami asked with an unsure expression. If what he was saying was true then it was a devil fruit suitable for her. "Give it to me, I'll eat it. From today onwards, I'll provide you all with the best defence while you all will fight on the battlefield." She began to imagine those scenarios where she would just stay back yet she would provide so much help to her fellow crew members.

"This devil fruit would only make her lazier….." Kaya mumbled with a helpless smile on her face. She knew very well about Nami and how she always tried to stay away from the battlefield even on that dangerous island.

"Yeah, I sure got a lazy sister…." Nojiko also agreed with Kaya, looking at her little sister who was now trying to spit out the devil fruit because of its shitty taste.

Before Nami could check her new powers, her eyes widened slightly. "An extremely enormous storm is coming." She hurriedly walked toward the figurehead of the ship and saw a storm brewing near a red mountain.

"Everyone, we are very close to the Reverse mountain now." She shouted with an excited expression, looking at the river that was ascending toward the giant mountain.

"Nami, try to use your power and cover the entire ship in a barrier." Alex came near her and began to instruct her about her new devil fruit.

After understanding how her devil fruit can be used, she crossed her fingers which instantly covered the entire ship with a transparent barrier.

Nami and Nojiko looked at the barrier with surprised expressions. When they touched it, they realized that it was very solid, and capable enough to handle a lot of attacks.

'It is a good devil fruit….' They thought with a small smile, happy that Nami could get such a useful power that would help the entire crew in the future.

While everyone was marvelling at the sight of the barrier, the door of the living room was opened and from it, Tashigi came out with her sword in her hands.

"So what option did you use, Tashigi?" Alex asked with a serious expression, looking at her along with the other girls.

"You bastard….!" She cursed him out loudly, making the two sisters giggle while Kaya frowned hearing those words. "I can't even go back to being a Marine officer so how do I have two choices, to begin with?"

"Well, you can live like a hermit in a small village, you know." Alex shrugged off her words causing the girls to laugh loudly much to Tashigi's embarrassment.

"I'll join your pirate crew however don't expect me to kill civilians or to loot some villages." She angrily said and walked forward toward the figurehead. "If you poke my moral boundaries, I'll cut you down." Saying that she turned to look at the front where the river was heading upwards on the giant mountain. She was a little scared however since none of them cared about it, she didn't speak about it either.

"Welcome to the Flying Pirates, little Tashigi…"
