Chapter 14: Chapter 13. Nami Got An Ex-Level Talent?

"It's so exciting…" Nojiko smiled in excitement as their ship was getting assaulted by those giant waves and constant rain, however, none of the crew members felt fear.

"Of course, it's exciting cause I'm here." Nami proudly said, her eyes full of joy as she looked at the barrier which was effortlessly blocking those storming waves.

The others chuckled at her words however they had to agree with her because if she didn't have that devil fruit, they wouldn't be able to enjoy such a view without getting worried.

The ship after some minutes reached the top of the mountain from where they were able to see the river which was going downwards to the Grand Line.

"I-Is this the whale that you were talking about?" Nami's eyes widened in shock as she saw the size of the whale. It was easily as big as a normal island in East Blue.

Alex simply nodded much to the awe of Kaya and Nami. They believed that he had a way to kill such a large whale.

"Tashigi!" Alex called out the name of the newest member of his crew. "Today, I'll demonstrate the strength that the top powerhouses in the sea have. So make sure to keep your eyes open." Saying that he flew in the air and motioned Nami to remove the barrier. When he was out of it, she covered the ship with a barrier once again.

Taking out one of the swords that he got from the Arms shop in Logue town. Raising it above his shoulders, he swung it in a vertical slash, creating a large slash which cut the entire body of the giant whale alongside the person who was living inside it.

"This…." The girls didn't have any words to describe the scene in front of them. They never thought that you could become so strong with only a sword in your hand.

Unlike the other girls, Tashigi's eyes were full of determination when she saw the scene. She tightened her grip on her sword and looked at the figure in the sky who brought her to his ship.

"If he is already that skilled in swordsmanship, why would he still want me in his crew?" She couldn't understand the reason, however, when she recalled the words that he had said earlier, a big smile appeared on her face. "So it is true that I have talent in swordsmanship, otherwise a skilled guy like him would never invite me to be his crew member. This proves that I have to work harder so he won't be disappointed with me in the future…" She kept mumbling under her breath while looking at Alex with a look of idolization.

"Hey, Nojiko…!" Kaya suddenly called her out causing Nami and Nojiko to look at her in confusion. "Since he brought that Marine girl here, doesn't that mean that he believes that she too would be able to reach the same level as him?" This was something that she just realized and when she thought about it, she felt that she needed to work even harder than before.

Nami and Nojiko realized it too and nodded to each other with a serious expression. They too didn't want to be left behind by the new crew members.

"Accept." A large amount of information kept pouring inside his mind related to various medical fields.

He couldn't help but smile like an idiot after getting the skill. This was the highest skill that he had since doctor Crocus was one of the best in the entire world.

After he was done with it, he cut a small piece of the whale meat and stored the rest of it inside his system storage. The meat stored inside the system storage would always remain fresh.

He then flew toward the ship and entered inside when Nami once again removed the barrier. Since he was controlling the ship using his power,  it didn't even move an inch.

"Let me have the meat, Alex. I'll make sure to cook a delicious meal." Nojiko immediately came forward and asked with a delighted smile. Among the girls, no one other than her knew how to cook which made her very joyous.

Alex nodded at her and then walked inside the ship with her. He put the meat in the kitchen and came back to the deck.

"You two can stay here, I'll be taking her to train." Saying that he flew in the sky with Tashigi who looked around herself in both amazement and slight fear.

They kept flying for some time and finally reached the island. Seeing it, Tashigi's eyes widened in shock as she wasn't expecting Alex to be able to control such a large island and that it was so high in the sky.

They landed on the outskirts of the island which was quite an empty area compared to the rest of the island which was covered by a lot of large trees.

"Before I officially begin teaching you, I have a task for you, Tashigi," Alex said with a serious expression. He took out the cursed sword that originally belonged to Zoro in anime and showed it to her. "I want you to take control of this sword. If you aren't able to do even such a small thing, you can go back to your hometown."

He handed the sword to Tashigi who was looking at him with a confused expression. Though her expression instantly changed when she touched the sword which was now oozing bloodlust.

"I hope that you will not disappoint me, Tashigi." He said the last words with a small smile and then he began to float in the sky. "I'll come back to see you soon so make sure to get over this in the least time." He spoke those words and began to fly down toward the ship, not caring about Tashigi who was gritting her teeth, cold sweat began to appear on her forehead.

Arriving on the ship, Alex quickly went to sleep on the sofa, not before telling Kaya to come with him. He happily laid his head on her side thighs and began to look at Nami who was still standing at the figurehead, looking at the ship which was now descending the mountain.

"Do you think she will be able to pass your test?" Kaya suddenly asked with a curious expression. She might not know about the test however she knows that Alex would never give out an impossible test.

"Who knows? Everything depends on the belief that she has in herself." Alex himself didn't know about the result however he was sure that she wouldn't at least lose herself to that sword bloodlust.

"Alex, there is a lighthouse some distance away," Nami said loudly, looking at the building which was at the corner of the mountain.

"We are already there?" Alex mumbled to himself and got up from Kaya's lap. "I'll be back in just a few minutes. You can dispel the barrier now." Alex spoke to Nami before he floated in the sky and began to head toward the lighthouse.

"I understand." Nami immediately dispelled the barrier. "Now, I can practice with it without any worries." She whispered to herself with a big smile and began to create barriers while making them move according to her wish.

Alex scanned the lighthouse with his observation haki and only then did he enter inside it. Since there was no one, he quickly took the important things from the lighthouse, stored them inside the system storage and then went back to the ship.

The moment he landed on the ship, a look of surprise appeared on his face. There were a lot of barriers on the ship in many different shapes and sizes. Not even the original user of this fruit was able to use it so well even after having it for 2 years.

"Haha, Alex, look at this…" Nami called out his name and showed another barrier which was quickly changing its size and shape. "I don't even need to cross my fingers now to use my power. This is so easy." She laughed out loudly, playing with the barriers that she kept creating or were already in existence.

Alex simply shook his head and walked toward Kaya who was looking at Nami in amusement. Though her expression instantly changed when she noticed Alex who was heading toward her.

"Kaya, I'm sure that you must have found a lot of things related to your devil fruit. Like how you can't heal everything with it if it is not a wound." Hearing his serious words, she nodded, knowing full well about it. "There are so many illnesses that you can't cure using that devil fruit healing power like fever, cough and many more." The devil fruit has immense power to even cure people if they are dying from an injury, however, it can't cure a simple thing like a cough.

Taking out the bundle of books that he had taken earlier, he handed them to Kaya. "These are very advanced medical books. I'm sure that you would be able to learn from it." 

"Thank you, Alex." She took those books from his hands with a smile.

"If you can't understand something, come to me. I might not look like a doctor, however, I know some stuff about it." Alex chuckled slightly and sat beside her.

Kaya simply giggled at his words. She now believes that he can do almost anything. "I'll come back after some time. I need to start my studies." She told him with a smile on her face and then she began to walk inside the ship with the bundle of books in her hand.

When she was gone, he once again placed his attention on Nami who was now looking at the sea with a serious expression. "Nami, come here." He called out to her loudly and took out the Log pose that he got from that lighthouse.

"Is this Log Pose that you had told us about?" Nami asked with a curious expression, looking at the thing that was in his hands.

"Yeah, this is a Log Pose that automatically records the location of the next island by recording its magnetism. It usually takes some hours for the needle to reset and point to the next island." Alex explained calmly and handed it to her. "Knowing your talent, I'm sure that you will be able to learn it in some minutes."

"I won't let you down," Nami said with a serious expression while tying the Log Pose on her left-hand wrist. She walked back to the figurehead of the ship while looking at the Log Pose.

Since everyone was busy with their respective work, he decided to take a nap to pass his time. If not for the fact that Nojiko was cooking a delicious meal, he would have already gone out to train on the island.

Though before closing his eyes to sleep, he decided to look at his status page. It has been a long time since he last checked it.

Every category has been improved since the time he spent one week on that dangerous island. Though the biggest gain was of course the increase in the body which was previously at rank C.

He only fought the beasts for two days straight however after that he had gotten bored of constantly fighting them as he got tired very easily due to his weak body so he got a perfect idea.

Using his swordsmanship and devil fruit power, he hunted down one of the strongest beasts on that island which helped him to get such a high level of the body. Only after this, did he continue his training as he didn't get tired even after fighting constantly with them for the whole day.

His devil fruit was on the verge of awakening as well. It only needed a little push and he would be able to step into a new realm when it comes to using his devil fruit power.

Still, he was quite jealous of the monstrous talent that Nami showed in controlling her devil fruit powers. Compared to her, his progress felt very lacking.

Well, the stronger she gets, the better it is for the crew so he was quite happy with it.

He slept for an entire hour before Nojiko woke him up to eat the food that she had prepared. He was quite interested in the taste of whale meat.

Walking inside the living room, he noticed Kaya, sitting near the dining table with a medical book in her hand. She had a small frown on her face as she continued to read the book.

Next to her was Nami who was still playing with her barrier powers. He could easily see the excitement on her face which seemed to keep increasing as time continued to pass.

Nojiko on the other hand was serving food on the dining table. She seemed to be a little anxious as she kept looking at the utensil in which the meat was placed.

"It smells quite good, Nojiko." He praised her with a smile and took the empty seat next to Kaya. After sitting, he turned to look at Kaya who had put her book away. "Are you facing any problems?"

Kaya shook her head negatively. "It's a little hard to understand so many new topics at the same time, however, it's very exciting since it's been a long time since I last read something new." She replied with a small smile. During her time on the ship, she was also reading the books that she had brought from the mansion and now, she was almost done with them.

"Good." He patted her head with a smile much to her happiness. Though after some pats, he removed his hand and turned to look at Nojiko once again. "I'm feeling very hungry now especially after smelling the aroma that it is releasing." He spoke in an impatient tone, smelling the aroma once again that had already spread in the living room.

Nojiko giggled at his expression however she did increase her speed. She brought the plates and then began to serve the other food to 4 people.

"Tashigi isn't going to join us?" Nami dispelled the barriers and asked with a curious tone.

"She won't join now." Alex shook his head negatively. "Though I'll make sure to take some food to the island for her. So make sure to pack some meat." He instructed Nojiko who nodded at him before taking a seat next to him.

Nojiko kept looking at him until he put the food in his mouth. "How is it? Is it good?" She asked nervously, not looking at the other two girls who looked quite pleased after taking a bite of the meat.

"It's very good. You are an excellent cook, Nojiko." He smiled at her before he focused his attention on the food that was in front of him. It tasted way better than any food he ever tasted in his previous life or the current life. 

A smile appeared on her face when she heard his praise. She began to put some more meat pieces on his plate, not even noticing the angry gazes that she was receiving.

"Hey, Nojiko! Leave some for us too." Nami glared at her sister with an irritated expression before pulling the pot toward herself. "I want to eat it too, you know." She quickly began to put meat pieces on her plate.

No one paid any attention to her anymore as everyone began to eat the delicious meat. After having some bites, Kaya also praised Nojiko for her cooking skill.

After half an hour, everyone was done eating. Now they were sitting in their seats, caressing their stomachs which were now a little swollen due to the amount of food they had just eaten.

"Everyone, make sure to take half an hour's rest because, after that, we are going to train on the island," Alex said to everyone and stood up from his seat. They all nodded at him and stood up as well to do some light exercise to digest the food better.

The entire crew began to exercise on the deck and only stopped when half an hour passed. Then, Alex used his power to make the ship float in the air to go to the island.

Unlike East Blue, the Grand Line was very dangerous. If he left the ship all alone, there was a chance that it might get attacked by the other random pirates or it might get drowned in the sea due to some sudden storm. Because of these two reasons, he decided to bring the ship with him to the island.

After flying in the sky for some time, the ship finally reached the island. Everyone landed on the island while the ship slowly kept moving alongside the island toward the next island that was being shown in the Log Pose.

"Where is she?" Nami looked around herself however she didn't find anyone which puzzled her a lot.

"I left her here," Alex said calmly and used his observation haki to find her. "She is in the lower area of the island." After a few seconds, he finally spoke.

"Lower area…?" A surprised expression appeared on the faces of the girls. They knew that the island was divided into three parts, lower, middle and the top.

Even after getting such powerful devil fruits, they only managed to go to the middle area recently yet the new girl already went inside the lower area, it was simply suicide since Alex wasn't with her.

"Don't worry, she isn't dead. Though Kaya might need to heal those beasts." He chuckled lightly and began to walk inside the island, followed by the girls who were curiously talking among themselves.

On the way, they saw many beasts lying on the ground with large cuts on their bodies, and some trees were cut down as well. Alex quickly ordered Kaya to heal them as he didn't want to lose these guys who were perfect training partners for newbies.

They continued to walk for some more time and finally saw her, sitting on the branch of a large tree. Her entire clothes were covered in blood, however, what was more shocking was the fact that there were a lot of beasts lying on the ground near the tree.

"So, did you manage to do it?" Alex loudly spoke, attracting the attention of Tashigi.

She looked around herself and her hands before she looked back at Alex with a smile. "After doing all of these, I finally managed to control it. Though it still affects me whenever I take out my sword to fight." Saying those words, she jumped down from the tree and walked toward the group.

"I don't care about anything as long as you can stop yourself from harming the other crew members," Alex spoke with a serious expression. "Everyone since we have entered the Grand Line, it is time to start the second phase of your training."

"What do you mean by that?" Kaya curiously asked.

"The devil fruits are indeed a very good way to become one of the top powerhouses on the sea. Though not everyone is interested in them and not everyone has good luck so, for them, there is another method to reach the top." Alex calmly spoke, looking at them with a serious gaze. "It's called Haki which is divided into three parts. From now on, I'll be training all of you in this as well."

"We understand." The girls said in unison including Tashigi. They didn't know what it was, however, if it was something that can make you strong, they were more than willing to learn.

"Though before that, Tashigi, you should head back to the ship. Nojiko has prepared food for you."
