And thus, the matter of the disappearance of the cursed living ghost corpse was more or less settled for the time being. It was decided that Queen Dora would take King Jaren, Jules, Bella, Raven and Mana with herself through the array the next day to visit her master – and meanwhile, Queen Carolina, together with the Imperial Supreme Mage and the Captain of the imperial shadow guards of the Sapphire Kingdom would keep an eye on the happenings in the imperial palace of the Sapphire Kingdom.

Azar and Alya would, of course, go along with their human parents – it wasn't as if any magical array or magical barrier could keep the two little dragon babies away anyway!

After deciding all this, everyone returned to their own rooms, and Queen Dora, obviously, stayed with King Jaren. The two little dragons also decided to stay with their Grandpapa and newly found Grandma.

Queen Dora explained the details of what she had done and how she had split her soul. It was more or less what King Jaren expected – she had sent part of herself along with Mana to the other world and she had been there with Mana until her soul became unstable and had to return to this world. Similarly, she had sent a part of herself to accompany Jules. Somehow there had been a time lapse between the time the part of her soul in the other world with Mana was pulled back to this world – and her soul had been able to piece itself together only when Mana's soul was pulled back from the other modern world to this one. This was when the drowning incident caused by Astra had happened.

The other part of Queen Dora, which had been with Jules at the time, had suddenly regained the lost part of her soul. The part that had disappeared from the other world where Mana was, when Mana had been about ten years old there, but had somehow been lost in the space and time array that Queen Dora had somehow managed to create.

When her soul got back together, Queen Dora had realised that her magic was simply too unstable and that she was likely to explode very soon. So she hastily bid farewell to Jules and her parents, and she had gone to look for her master. She had reached her master's doorstep, but she knew no more after that – she had only woken up today after all this while.

King Jaren sighed. Queen Dora had really done a lot to protect their two children.

Queen Dora poked King Jaren's cheek with a slim and beautiful finger.

"So, my dear Jaren," she said. "Tell me what's going on."

King Jaren didn't hide anything from his dearly beloved wife. After all, she was the one he loved the most and there was no question of not trusting her at all. He told her about Mana's adventures, how she had found Jules and Raven, and how they had saved the Verdant Hills, and how they had overturned the imperial palace and exposed Sora's true face, and how Astra and Mars were more or less settled now. He told her about Raven's misfortunes and how far the boy had come while he had been staying with them, and how the attitude of Crown Princess Pica of the Obsidian Kingdom and Head Sage Yue of the Pearl Kingdom had undergone a complete change. King Jaren told Queen Dora about how Jules and Bella had met, and how Bella had transformed into a breath taking beauty from a strictly academic façade. He told her proudly about the great achievements which these children had acquired in just a few months. He told her about how they had found General Aquila, even.

Queen Dora listened carefully until King Jaren stopped speaking.

"So it really was the Amber Kingdom after all," she murmured.

King Jaren sighed. "Looks like it," he said.

"Where is Sora now?" Queen Dora asked. "You didn't bring her to the engagement banquets? You won't even bring her to the engagement banquet of Astra in the Amber Kingdom?"

King Jaren shook his head. "She is deposed and imprisoned in the imperial palace of the Emerald Kingdom for the rest of her life. With her magic wasted, she can't do anything else. The only reason I have not made it public is to protect the children and to keep the situation stable. Astra has promised that she will not endanger Mana and Jules ever again," he murmured. "Do you know – initially, when I was wavering and wanting to give Astra more chances – Raven actually threatened to take Mana and Jules away unless I mended my ways?"

Queen Dora's eyes glowed, and she decided that she would treat little Raven extra nicely in the future. The boy had really been the one to bring fortune to their family.

There was still one question that plagued her, though.

"Jaren," she said quietly. "I understand that you have decided to leave Astra in the Amber Kingdom with her fiancé and that she has promised not to interfere in the matters of the Emerald Kingdom or seek to harm Jules and Mana again – but what will you do when she refuses to honour her words?" she asked.

King Jaren sighed. "I don't know, Dora," he murmured. "But I can promise you that as long as I am alive, I will not let Astra or Mars or anyone else bring any harm to either Jules or Mana. If Astra wants to harm them, she will have to kill me first."

Queen Dora sighed as well. "That is not the point, Jaren," she said. "If she is anything like her mother – we won't even know when she lays a trap for us – and for our children – to fall into. And from what you have told me, she does seem to be exactly like Sora."

King Jaren buried his face in his hands. "I don't know what to do, Dora. Whatever she is, Astra, too, is my little girl," he said. "How can I bear to harm her?"

"And can you bear to harm Mana and Jules?" Queen Dora asked softly.

"Of course not," King Jaren said immediately. "How could I?"

Queen Dora stared at his clear emerald eyes for a long time. Then she sighed heavily. "All right, we will cross that bridge when we get to it," she murmured. "But Jaren – you may have to prepare yourself for the worst. If Astra tries to harm Mana or Raven again – I won't be as generous as you. I can't let my children be harmed again. They have already suffered so much for so many years because I was not strong enough to find a better way to protect them, and I didn't have enough evidence to convince you of the truth – and I could see how much you adored little Astra at the time. And I held some regard for Sora myself – after all, she is my little sister, and I didn't believe the lengths to which she would go to harm us. I hid Jules away partly because of that incident, but primarily because I had been poisoned so badly that if my master hadn't appeared out of nowhere to save me and my new born son at the time, we would both have died. He warned me that there were people in the imperial palace who desperately wanted my child to die. So I had to hide him away – but I hadn't planned to hide him away from you for too long. I had thought I would come back and patch things up with Sora and then bring Jules back home…"

King Jaren shuddered. "But then you found out that Sora was expecting," he murmured. "And you thought that she had taken your place in my life?"

Queen Dora sighed. "Partly, yes," she said. "But there was also the fact that there were minute amounts of poison in my food, in my clothes and pretty much everything around me. So I thought that it would be safer to hide Jules away for a while longer, until I knew exactly what was going on. I could still manage to counter the poison, but an infant would not be able to. I suspected that Sora wanted her child to be the heir to your throne, and once her child was born, we could recognise the child as the heir and it would be safe for my Jules to come back and meet his father. But things didn't work out as planned – I kept getting attacked in the dark more often than not. And in the end, when I was expecting Mana – they used the Shadow Poison. That's when I realised that there would be no chance of reconciliation, and took the steps I did."

King Jaren sighed.

Their conversation lasted for a long, long time – and the two adults chatted in a soft voice while the two little dragons slept peacefully on the bed.

It was not until it was almost dawn the King Jaren and Queen Dora finally went to sleep.
