The next morning, most guests started leaving the Sapphire Kingdom – a good number of them would go to Amber Kingdom next, for the banquets for Crown Prince Mars of the Amber Kingdom and Princess Astra of the Emerald Kingdom, while the others would go back home.
Head Sage Yue, for example, would be going back to the Pearl Kingdom to make his preparations for the next banquet, which would be in the Pearl Kingdom. Besides, he also wanted to check on the situation at the border and find out exactly what he was dealing with and how much damage had already been caused by the corrupt people at the Moon Temple!
King Corvus, General Aquila, Crown Princess Pica, Prince Rook, Princess Enca and Prince Dawe of the Obsidian Kingdom were not even invited to the Amber Kingdom, so, of course, most of the contingent of the Obsidian Kingdom was going back home, and a small number would be slowly making their way to the Pearl Kingdom, because Head Sage Yue had personally invited them for the banquet of Prince Raven of the Obsidian Kingdom and Princess Mana of the Emerald Kingdom.
After all, even though Prince Raven was the biological son of Head Sage Yue of the Moon Temple of the Pearl Kingdom and a direct member of the royal bloodline of the Pearl Kingdom, he had always been brought up as a prince of the Obsidian Kingdom, and Prince Raven had actually not set foot in the Pearl Kingdom after he was born. Well, until recently, his reputation in the Pearl Kingdom was quite terrible.
But now, the people of the Pearl Kingdom had realised that if they wanted to maintain good relations with the Emerald Kingdom and the Sapphire Kingdom, even, they needed to treat Prince Raven with great reverence and respect and affection. Only by cherishing Prince Raven would they be able to gain any benefits – and if they showed him even the slightest disrespect, the Emerald Kingdom would boycott them without hesitation. A lot of people in the Pearl Kingdom had already learnt this lesson in the past several months! The people of the Emerald Kingdom were very protective of their royal children, and Prince Raven had clearly established his position as a royal child of the Emerald Kingdom in their hearts. Prince Raven was as well loved in the Emerald Kingdom as Princess Mana!
Some people of the Pearl Kingdom would be accompanying the groups going to the Amber Kingdom – after all, they had been invited and they couldn't be too disrespectful. And also, since Prince Raven was going there as well, they could use this opportunity to get closer to the boy and establish a rapport with him.
Head Sage Yue had made it amply clear that he had changed his mind about his only child – and it was already known to every person in the Pearl Kingdom that Head Sage Yue wanted his son, Prince Raven of the Obsidian Kingdom, to be accorded every courtesy when he was in the Pearl Kingdom! Of course, there were a number of people who were very dissatisfied with this, but most of the common people welcomed this announcement. The merchants, especially, since they were often in contact with other merchants from the Emerald Kingdom and the Sapphire Kingdom, and they knew very well how many benefits Prince Raven had brought to the land of his in laws! And thus, the merchants of the Pearl Kingdom were fully in support of treating Prince Raven like a national treasure!
On the side of the Obsidian Kingdom, however, there was a problem. General Aquila needed to remain close to Raven for the time being because of the fealty token's established connection – and Raven was supposed to go to the Amber Kingdom with Mana and the rest of his family in the Emerald Kingdom.
"What should we do?" Mana asked Raven. "Do you want me to stay back with you and Father Aqi? I can stay with you if you want."
Raven shook his head. "I'm still not very comfortable with leaving Papa," he murmured. "Even though Ma is here now, Azar and Alya are still sticking to him – and I think the Amber Kingdom may be a dangerous place for both Papa and Ma, especially with what happened in the past…"
"Ma's resurrection is also secret for now," Mana murmured. "But Papa's invitation said 'King and Queen of the Emerald Kingdom' – and King Orion actually asked Papa a few days ago if he would be bringing his wife to the Amber Kingdom and hinted quite aggressively that Papa should bring his wife – so it'll actually be quite entertaining when Ma turns up with Papa instead of Auntie Sora!" Mana's eyes glowed mischievously, imagining the sour look on King Orion's face – and the shock as well, of course. She hoped that all the perpetrators who were involved in the matter would be scared to death by the sudden appearance of Queen Dora!
Raven smiled. It would definitely be fun to see the look on King Orion's face when Queen Dora showed up!
"So – what do you want to do?" Mana asked. "If Father Aqi can't go, you'll have to stay with him anyway, and I'm fine staying with you. Big Brother Jules and Big Sister Bella will keep an eye out for Papa and Ma, and Azar and Alya, too."
"We can't leave Azar alone," Raven murmured. "Won't he feel terrible if neither of us are with him?" He remembered how Azar had thrown a ferocious tantrum when Mana and Raven had gone out for almost an entire day without him – it had taken them hours (and a cartload of delicious goodies) to placate their little baby dragon after that when they got back home. They definitely couldn't leave the little dragon alone for several days!
Mana frowned. "That's true," she murmured. "But I worry about you being alone without me as well. What if someone bullies you?"
Raven laughed. "Who will bully me?" he asked.
Mana poked his cheek. "You are very powerful but you never stand up for yourself," she said. "I don't want you to go back to the Obsidian Kingdom without me. I don't know what sort of people are there, and this Minister Naja seems like bad news all over to me. I have a feeling he had something to do with Father Aqi's disappearance all those years ago, and when you all turn up with Father Aqi, he may feel cornered – and a cornered dog is the most dangerous!"
Raven frowned. Mana was right – they needed to be careful on their way back to the Obsidian Kingdom. Also, Prince Dawe would have surely informed his father about the return of Father Aqi already – so who knew what traps would be waiting for them when they went back?
Mana and Raven were in a dilemma.
Just then, the door was flung open and Rook rushed in, looking excited.
"Big Brother Raven! Sister Mana! Guess what happened!" he cried excitedly.
"What happened?" Mana asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You won't believe what happened!" Rook said smugly.
Mana and Raven looked at him curiously.
Rook waited for the two of them to cajole him, but seeing that neither Raven nor Mana made any move to do so, he pouted.
But then, he was too excited to keep the news to himself.
"King Orion came to meet Grandfather last night! He personally invited all of us and our entire contingent to the Amber Kingdom!" Rook said excitedly.
Mana and Raven shared a glance. What was that King Orion plotting now?
"And Grandfather agreed!" Rook continued, not noticing the strange look on the faces of Mana and Raven. "So, we will all be going to the Amber Kingdom with you! Grandfather spoke to Queen Carolina and Uncle Jaren, and we will be travelling together with you all!"
"Oh, that's great," Mana said with a smile. Even if King Orion had some nefarious plan in mind, Mana doubted that he could outsmart King Corvus – the old man could probably run circles around King Orion if he wanted, and since king Corvus had agreed to go to the Amber Kingdom, he surely had something in mind. There was probably no need for them to worry at all.
And it neatly sorted out the problem of Father Aqi having to stick close to Raven – if all of them were going, then there would be no issues at all.
Now, the only thing that remained was to pay a visit to Queen Dora's master – but that was only for King Jaren, Big Brother Jules, Big Sister Bella, Raven, Mana and the two little dragons – the people Queen Dora would be able to include in the array.
"This is great," Raven said, patting Rook on the shoulder. "It is good that we would be able to travel together to the Amber Kingdom.. But, Rook – remember to be careful in the Amber Kingdom, all right? We don't know what King Orion and his ilk may be planning."
