Chapter 32: Chapter 30 – Unexpected allies (1)

Day 32

---- Foxx and Mira POV (Paradise Prime)------

Princes Mira Leonheart had trouble sleeping, after Aunt Foxx told her that they are doomed to fail. She had frequent nightmares where the ghost of her beloved ones were chasing her. In the mornings she always felt tired and sluggish. She often cried in bed, sometimes for hours. The pressure of the bitter truth had crushed the young and spirited mind into a heavily depressed  state.

This morning was no different, they have been on Paradise Prime for some time and the investigation progress was going with a snail pace. The sense of helplessness and the fact she was a little or no use at all was so humiliating and discouraging. 

Yet, Mira pressed her will to finish her morning rituals and prepare for the regular meeting with the detectives. She had lost all hope that anything will change a week ago already.

"Last night we have located an area, where the subject has been active using tipple cross divination method of Leetera&Hudsor. The area is located at "Paradise prime war veteran hospital" 

"We will depart immediately and look for physical clues or witnesses" Foxx said and a group of 30 people including Mira headed for the local transport hub.

The groups spread to the area of interest and begun their investigation

4 hours had passed... Nothing

Mira felt again the depression of defeat. Tears started to drop and she sat on a bench in the beautiful decorated and maintained hospital garden. She covered her face with her hands and started sobbing silently.

Few minutes has passed when a voice of a elderly man reached her:

"We should never lose hope young one. Sometimes even in our darkest times a light of hope can shine" The elderly man in a healers uniform sat next to the sobbing catkin

"It is all hopeless now. Everything is falling apart and I can't do nothing to stop it. I am such a useless person, a weakling and failure" Mira started to cry loud this time

The man patted her back gently and said:

"May be I can give you an advice? I have lived long, too long if you ask me. I have seen much of the misery and suffering the war had caused"

"How can you help me find that person. The whole team of us spent 4 hours for a empty search" Mira said while still sobbing.

"You are looking for a person? Here in the veteran's hospital??" the old healer asked

"Unknown person who had been  here just for a short time, 25 days ago. It is an Impossible task!" Mira shook her head and wiped her tears.

"Hmm... A person about 25 days ago?" The man went into a deep thought

"The only strange person, I can recall from that period was a celestial fellow. He said he was a researcher. Hmmm, yes a [system architect]. I remember him because he asked me very weird questions. I didn't pay much attention then because I was busy with work  and he said that it was for class analysis performance or something.

"What questions did he ask about?" Now Mira looked intrigued

"Well, he was interested in demon's spellcraft and more precisely the miasma "OBEY" and it's effect on the mortals mind" the healer

"Demon's spellcraft!?!" Mira's beautiful eyes opened sharply.

"Sir, would you please wait here for a bit, I need to bring my Aunt. She needs to hear this. I will be back in a minute"

Mira bolted in sprint screaming loud AUNT FOXX! GUYS I HAVE FOUND SOMETHING...

Late night in the detective agency headquarters.

"... we have identified the subject via payment record for a consultation fee with the Healer who princess Leonheart located.

"His name is Kornelius. A graduate with honors in system architecture class. Age 212 years, single, has a serious debts of... 156 234 SU to various organisations. Family - deceased in the war at Vega sector. Friends - unknown. His location will be discovered soon... End Of report" The detective finished his presentation

"Has the fain link signature from our divination match his? Foxx asked her subordinate sitting next to him

"100% match"

"Sigh, we have found him at last!" Foxx. 

"The Kingdom of Sopura wants to express its deepest gratitude for the hard work you have done. The payment will be finalized tomorrow" Foxx

"I need to contact his Majesty the King and report the news. I wish to remind all participants here that the subject is classified and a considered a matter of national security for the Kingdom" Foxx

"Good night ladies and gentleman and Thank you again for all your efforts!" Foxx left followed by Mira

"What now aunt?" Mira

"Now, I will report the King and we will approach Mr Kornelius tomorrow morning. Remember Mira, the man is not our enemy. Whatever he is doing, he is helping the kingdom of Sopura. That thing is so impact-full that changes the scales of an entire war waged by hundreds of millions mortals and demons alike"

Mira stood silently processing the information.

"When we meet Mr. Kornelius I want your mouth shut! You will be present as a representative of the royal court, if we need to make some official arrangement. You will talk when I tell you, otherwise you will stand put and act like the cute princes you are!" Foxx said stern, but at the end a faint smile broke her expression

Day 33

---- Foxx and Mira POV (Paradise Prime)------

The early morning

"Why are you dressed like that?" Foxx

"Well that is my best combat gear" Mira was surpised

"Get back to your room and put the nicest dress and most expensive jewelry you have" Foxx ordered

"But auntie, you know I don't like dresses. They hinder my combat moves!" Mira protested

"NOW!" Foxx

In one hour Foxx and 20 of her subordinates including e Mira in her extremely expensive princess attires arrived at Kornelius home location.

"Dexter, Hugo I want the perimeter secured asap"

"You know the drill guys, set up the gear fast, move into positions" Dexter and Hugo barked orders and the group split in practiced moves

knock ... knock

....

knock knock knock

The annoying knocking at the door of Kornelius's lab  woke him from his slumber

"What it is now. What time is it" Kornelius grunted and moved to the door.

knock knock

"I am coming." He shouted

Kornelius opened the door and saw A fox kin with a FOL military attire.

"Noo! He shut the door fast

"Mr Kornelius, please open the door I need to speak with you. Please! A woman's voice was heard from the other side

"No, I haven't finished the project yet. Akira is not ready. Oh dear." Kornelius was trembling while he was whispering.

"I WILL NOT BE CONSCRIPTED, I WAS TOLD I HAVE ONE YEAR TILL THEN!!! Kornelius shouted 

..... A short pause of 20 seconds

"I am not here to conscript you for the army Mr. Kornelius. I just need few minutes to hear my proposal. Please open the door and let us in"

"Who else is there?

"It is just me and my nephew the "Royal Princess of Sopura Kingdom and the future Queen Mira Leonheart." Foxx

"What a princes. Here?!" The panic soon was replaced with surprise

"Do you promise you are not lying me?

"I swear in my honor!" Foxx

The door slowly opened and revealed the participants to each other

"Well then come in. Find somewhere to sit" Kornelius invited his uninvited guests to his lab

The trained eye of Foxx scanned the environment and Mr Kornelius registering every single detail in just 5 seconds. She immediately started to build a profile for the subject as a trained intelligence agent.

"Battered attires, unkempt appearance, outdated, old and poorly maintained laboratory equipment, unknown diagrams on the wall. A SUMMONING circle - probably illegal" Foxx mind was racing, gathering facts  combining  them into a proper profile.

"What a dirty and unkempt place. How can a person live in such a dumpster?" Mira's mind also tried to make a profiling or.. something.

I believe we have a bad start Mr Kornelius. I am Claudia Foxx and This is princes Mira Leonheart.

"Kornelius is fine Mrs Foxx, I don't like formalities" Kornelius said. He still looked very much distressed of something. The fact wasn't missed by Foxx's  trained eyes.

"Well then you can call me Foxx and this young lady goes by Mira" Foxx smiled

"What do you need of me, I am just a simple researcher" 

"We are here as representatives of the Kingdom of Sopura, We would to express that you are in not in any bad terms with the kingdom, but on the contrary The King himself wishes to express our best intentions to you"

"What? what best intentions? Kornelius was startled

"Princes Mira if you would?" Foxx

"For achieving great deal merits and good deeds benefiting the nation of Sopura. I princes Mira Leonheart as a representative hereby grant Mr Kornelius a reward of 160 000 SU"

[Royal Bank of Sopura has gifted you: 160 000 SU] Kornelius read the message and properly fainted

Mira check his pulse. 

"The man fainted from excitement?"

"Well it may not look much to you but you just gave him a sum that covered his lifetime debt" Foxx said and activated her eye implant

"Lexy, Debora are you receiving? Foxx

"Yes Lieutenant all perfect and  clear" Her subordinates, who were positioned in the royal palace, at their respective office department reported in. 

"I will scan the lab. I want a real time analysis of the situation. I believe we have several minutes until Mr Kornelius returns to us"

.... old and outdated laboratory equipment. Few of them look barely functional with some faulty runes 

....Unknown complex system architecture drawings.

"Lexy I want photos of them sent to a specialist in Sopura ASAP. I need to know what do they mean. I want preliminary report in 30 minutes.

"Understood"

....Summoning circle - unregistered, probably an illegal installation.

.... Demonic barrier breach array - nonoperational, most likely used recently.

Foxx's mind made some deductions: Summoning circle+ Demonic barrier breach array+ recently used + link to Sopura sector.... The missing pieces slowly started to click into place.

"Debora, I need you to look into our intelligence reports from our spy monitoring at the Voldemort's controlled worlds. Look specifically at the time period a month ago for barrier events."

"On It. need 5 minutes"

"Hmm what secret do you keep hidden Mr Kornelius?" Foxx looked at the poor researcher laying helplessly on the ground with amazement.

Debora soon connected:

"32 days ago our records have registered a failed attempt for breach of the Terra's barrier by a soul transfer"

"Hmm Terra, failed attempt..? If our intelligence had registered it as a "failed attempt" so probably did the demons. But what if the transport was successful? And that  person is now active in Terra?  THAT must be the missing link, the unknown variable! Whatever that person is doing there is affecting the divination chances.. in their favor!"

"Inform the king for our findings! Now."

"The king is at the war council meeting at the moment" Debora

"I don't care. Debora you will go in person and report the King. I need his opinion on the matter. Now GO!"

At the same time Mira was also doing her analysis of the situation:

"What a miserable place to live and work! It has dust everywhere. And look at that poor fellow. He looks so weak. I can probably beat him up with my eyes closed. Hmm are those wings grey or white? And this attires of his. The beggars in Sopura are better dressed! How can that man affect us in such a impossible way?"

In about 10 minutes Kornelius regained consciousness.

[You have been automatically deducted by 156 300 SU due to a critical debt failure]

[Debt balance : cleared]

[balance 3 700 SU]

"Sigh the money just came and went away" Kornelius sighed and finally registered the 2 beast kin staring him in silence

"Oh I am sorry I must have lost myself for a while, Please excuse me" Kornelius

"It is fine Kornelius, we have a lot of free time to spare" Foxx

Kornelius stood up and dusted himself.

"So much money, I don't understand how am I entitled for it? This must be a serious mistake" Kornelius

"A mistake? I don't believe so. And about your rights to receive our gratitude? Our divination spells tell us that you very much deserved it!" Foxx

"Haa I still don't get it, can you be more specific please?" Kornelius

"All right I am disclosing a top secret information, Do you understand that it should be not shared with non authorized personal"

"I do" Kornelius gulped

Foxx explained about their divination spell results and the unknown variable 

"I see" Kornelius sighed

"We are desperate Mr Kornelius. Whatever you and your collaborator are doing on Terra is of a great help to our kingdom"

"Terra I don't..." Kornelius started to sweat.

"Look Kornelius, I don't care about the illegal soul transport here or anything you have done so far. What I do care is that thing is giving hope to billions of inhabitants on Sopura and its satellite worlds. You are helping many people, Kindgom of Sopura has it best interest that you continue your doing and wishes to help in every way possible!" Claudia Foxx said with a serious tone

"Please Mr Kornelius, I don't want auntie, grandpa and all my friends in the royal guards die. I want to..... " Mira couldn't help it and started to cry

"Come here dear" Foxx hugged her nephew

"I would help of course, I don't like that war and its horrors as well. That is what The Exorcist was built for.." Kornelius shut his mouth as he was spitting too much secrets 

"Please Kornelius can you trust me, trust Mira! We have a common goal and we can very much help each other. Together we will achieve victory" Foxx

"I.. I need to speak to someone. It is not my own secret to share alone."

"Tell that person that Sopura can and will provide any support possible -monetary, intelligence and qualified advise from the best minds our Kingdom can offer" Foxx

"......" Kornelius

"It is about lunch time. Me and the princess here will go to a restaurant and can come back, let say in 2 hours. Is that time enough? Foxx

"Yes , it should suffice" Kornelius

"See you later then" Foxx and Mira left. Kornelius slumped on his chair. His heart rate was racing like a mad bull

I need to contact Akira...
