Xiu Jin’s enthusiasm towards being a father once again took a hit. He instantly grew discouraged. But luckily just at this moment, the smart butler reminded him outside the door, “Your Highness, you have to enter the palace to meet the emperor tomorrow. It’s now time to rest .”
With the smart butler’s interruption, Xiu Jin looked at the time and realised that he had been playing the game for hours.
“…”
“Got it.”
Even though raising his daughter was an important task, meeting his father tomorrow was equally important, and so was…
A cold light flashed past Xiu Jin’s eyes. He had to enter the palace tomorrow in his best state.
Lifting a hand to touch his face, he felt that it was slightly dry. And so, while letting the smart butler help him prepare an essence mask, he shifted the wardrobe in his baby daughter’s room slightly and covered up his writing and portrait.
His precious daughter couldn’t read. If she woke up and saw new ‘symbols’ and a ‘drawing’ on his wall… thinking of his -50 intimacy points, Xiu Jin dared not risk finding out about the consequences.
As for whether or not Bian Bian would realise that her wardrobe had moved after waking up, Xiu Jin had taken a careful look at the wardrobe. The words he’d written were right beside the wardrobe so it had only moved around 20-50 centimetres.
This was a short distance. A small child usually wouldn’t notice these types of small details.
After doing all that, Xiu Jin closed the game and started his nightly skincare routine.

It was a brand new day. Bian Bian had awoken amidst shaking and knew that this meant that the sky was now bright.
Early in the morning for the past few days, there would always be shaking. Bian Bian didn’t know what’d happened, but she didn’t dare to pull open the shades when it was shaking to look outside. Only after the shaking was over would she pull the windows open, welcoming the arrival of a brand new day.
“Grey Grey, good morning.”
The little girl first changed the plaster on her finger, then carefully observed her surroundings.
“The baddie seems to have left.”
If the baddie was here, then the things in the house were bound to have been moved. Bian Bian cleverly went to check the things she’d brought back yesterday. She found that non of the food, water, instant noodles and bread, as well as candy were missing.
Bian Bian deduced from this situation that the baddie had already left.
She did not know why the bad guy left, but Bian Bian was delighted. That meant that she wouldn’t get eaten.
Was it because of the dream she had?
Bian Bian bit her fingers and thought. She remembered that she seemed to have had a dream in which she met the baddie, then she and grandpa chased the baddie away. She could not remember anything else.
Thinking of grandpa, the little girl quickly ran into the living room and found that the apple peel she put into the bag had completely dried. She couldn’t give it to grandpa anymore.
Bian Bian felt slightly upset.
Next, she went to look at the slice of apple which had become full of pits after she tried to peel it. The original yellowish-white coloured apple had oxidised and its surface was completely greyed.
It couldn’t be eaten anymore.
Bian Bian gulped as her brain automatically replayed how delicious the apple she’d eaten yesterday was.
But then she thought of how this was given to her by the baddie, and he wanted to get her fat before eating her. She wasn’t supposed to be eating it.
At that, Bian Bian no longer felt that it was a pity .
The water poured yesterday wasn’t finished, neither was the bread yesterday. Bian Bian picked up the remainder of the bread, drinking the cold mineral water as she started eating it bit by bit.
The baddie had left, so she didn’t need to go to the supermarket and hide. It was very dangerous outside, food needed to be finished sparingly.
After finishing the bread, Bian Bian rubbed her flat stomach and looked at the other pieces of bread. In the end, she still managed to stop herself from eating them.
However, she tore open a fruit candy. The sweet inside the wrapper was slightly melted. Bian Bian didn’t waste it and licked it clean before flattening the plastic wrapper.
The cartoon printing on the plastic wrapper was very cute and Bian Bian really liked it, so she decided to keep them in her little baggie.
The sweet tangerine flavoured candy made Bian Bian’s eyes turned into crescent shapes. She threw the dried apple peel and the oxidised apple slice into the bin, then pushed a chair to the door.
A child’s thought pattern was——— they would be safer if they used things to hold the door shut tighter.
Bian Bian didn’t only push a chair to block the front door, she even went into the kitchen and found an emptied can in a corner and filled with water. Next, she stuffed it into a bag, then hung it on the door handle.
If there were people outside twisting the door handle, the bag would slide down and fall onto the ground, making a sound that she could hear.
This was an idea Bian Bian just thought of.
Once Bian Bian quietened down, the room would also follow suit and fall into silence too. Bian Bian actually didn’t like this sort of silence, thus, she started cleaning. This was one of her ways to relieve boredom.
Being shut in the room to live on their own, even if one was a child, they would also find all sorts of things to pass time.
During this period, Bian Bian taught herself to sweep and clean, wash clothes… these were things Lu Yu originally planned to teach her after she was five years old.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t time to teach her anything before he had an accident.
For two years after the apocalypse, when there weren’t many meners in the world, Lu Yu, who owned a B class ability would receive people’s respect wherever he went, even if he was an elderly who brought a child with him.
During those times, the days that he and Bian Bian lived could even be called ‘luxurious’. After that, Lu Yu started bringing Bian Bian to places where there were lesser people.
Where there were fewer people, meant that danger levels were lower. At the same time quality of life would also decrease.
Bian Bian would learn some things while living alongside Lu Yu. This was also why after Lu Yu had an accident, though alone at home and not living as well compared to the past, Bian Bian could still wash herself up within her limits.
She would think, would recall the things she’d learnt while living beside Lu Yu, slowly fumbling along and putting them into practice.
After Bian Bian was done cleaning the room, she lowered her head to look at the clothes on her body. Pinching a finger, she asked her teddy, “Grey Grey, how long have I been wearing the clothes on my body?”
Next, she puffed up her cheeks, using a strange voice to say, “It’s been three days, Bian Bian, you should change into clean clothes.”
Bian Bian giggled. “Okay, thank you Grey Grey.”
After settling down in this estate, Lu Yu found for Bian Bian quite a few sets of children’s clothes. Even though he liked dressing up his granddaughter prettily, however, dressing up in an eye-catching way during the apocalypse was not good.
This way the colours of the clothes he found for Bian Bian were not bright, there were also enough for her to take turns wearing. The wardrobe was full of clothes Lu Yu found for her.
Bian Bian washed a light blue coloured skirt and changed into it, then held its ends as she twirled in front of the mirror.
Wearing new clothes is a happy thing; dressing up was every girl’s nature, no matter how old they were.
From beginning to the end, the little girl didn’t realise that the position of the wardrobe had shifted some distance away from its original position.
The first time she’d washed clothes, not only did Bian Bian not wash it properly, she’d even tripped, scraping her right kneecap badly. The wound left a nasty scar after it healed.
But luckily, practice made perfect, and she was better at washing clothes now.
The little girl had very little strength. After she was done with washing, she would slowly wring the clothes one by one, then copy the way grandpa shook them out before hanging them onto the balcony to dry.
The balcony was open-air and was on its own. One was able to get to it through one of the kitchen doors. This was an apartment that Lu Yu had chosen specifically for Bian Bian after he got infected.
As there was a door from the balcony to the kitchen, should something happen, Bian Bian would be able to have an extra shot at survival.
At the same time, afraid that there would be zombies or other dangerous existences enter the kitchen through this door, Lu Yu had also reinforced it.
Sometimes when Bian Bian felt too stuffy inside the room, she would bring teddy out to the balcony and lean on the handrail, gazing at the skyscrapers far away.
This quiet city showed up in dilapidation before Bian Bian’s eyes.
After hanging the clothes properly, Bian Bian habitually leaned on the balcony as she gazed into the distance.
The weather wasn’t too good today and the sky was dark with thunderclouds covering the world. Grandpa said that this sort of weather meant that it was going to rain heavily soon.
She had to remember to take down the clothes later.
Bang———!
A deafening gunshot suddenly sounded. Other than the gunshot, there was also the sound of a person’s yell as well as the monster’s howl.
Soon, a car streaked past the streets downstairs.
Bian Bian was frightened into retracting her head.

“Du Ming Yu, you are going to die a horrible death!”
Zhu Yuan covered the bullet wound on his chest, staring in disbelief at the disappearing car before him.
His good friend actually shot him for the sake of a level 3 crystal.
-TOFU- I WANNA CALL HIM JULIAN SO BAD
Zhu Yuan coughed heavily, a drop of blood leaking out of the corner of his mouth.
He was a C class wind mener while Du Ming Yu was a C class fire mener. The two were originally university friends and had met coincidentally some time ago. After asking a few questions, they found out that both their plans were to go to Base North. And so, they naturally teamed up.
They ran into an injured level 3 zombie yesterday. A level 3 zombie was equal to a B class mener. Luckily, this zombie was injured, so the two went all out in killing it, managing to obtain a level 3 wood class crystal.
Crystals could promote a mener’s strength, but neither of them was a wood class mener. If they used it to cure their injuries, it would just waste the energy inside of it.
Zhu Yuan suggested that they go to the base and use this level 3 crystal to exchange for resources, and Du Ming Yu agreed.
He originally thought that this was a good suggestion, after all they were teammates, they could share the resources they exchanged. He never thought of pocketing it all for himself.
But it was exactly just now when they’d met three level 1 zombies that Du Ming Yu’s bullet purposely flew past the zombie, sinking right into his defenceless chest.
Zhu Yuan then understood everything.
The infuriated Zhu Yuan bared with the intense pain in his chest and killed the zombie that had pounced towards him off. This attack had used up all of his energy. The gun fell from his hand as his body swayed.
Just then, a breeze flew past. Zhu Yuan picked up a clear scent, the unique scent that came from washing detergent———
The scent was coming from above him.
He immediately looked up and saw that on the balcony of the third floor of the building before him was a skirt flapping in the wind.
A skirt hanging on the balcony?
Was there someone living on the third floor?
Survival instinct made Zhu Yuan’s drowsy mind clear up slightly. He operated all of the mener inside of him, and, summoning a strong gust of wind to wrap him up, he used the swiftness it brought him to leap towards the third floor’s balcony.
Zhu Yuan ‘flew’ up, yet was still just only nearly there. Luckily, at the last moment, he stretched an arm out to grip onto the side of the balcony, using his last bit of strength to flip over.
Next, he met a pair of eyes that were bigger than grapes.
Gods, it’s a little child.
Zhu Yuan’s eyes were filled with astonishment.
“I…” All of a sudden, immense pain travelled from his wound. Zhu Yuan lost consciousness before he could finish speaking.
Bian Bian had seen countless dead people from following beside Lu Yu.
Gramps said humans were the scariest, while the second scariest were monsters. The least scary were the dead.
Staring at the bloodied Zhu Yuan for a good minute, after making sure that this uncle had already ‘died’, Bian Bian returned to her bedroom and took a blanket out from her wardrobe.
The little girl half dragged and half carried the blanket back to the balcony. She spread the blanket out, completely covering Zhu Yuan.
Plus, she even kindly gave the corners a pinch.
This way this uncle could pass away free from worries.

At the same moment, on the way to the palace, Xiu Jin couldn’t resist secretly switching on his ly-set. He wanted to see if his precious daughter had woken up or not.
“???”
What the hell is that thing in front of my little girl???
The author has something to say:
If Bian Bian could write and kept diaries too, then the diary record for today would definitely be———
XX/XX,
When I woke up today bad guy was not here. I’m happy that I do not have to get eaten by the bad guy. I changed into pretty clothes, then when I was drying them, an uncle flew up here and died… why did he fly up here?
bro, Bian Bian so kindhearted lmao, helping to cover up his ‘corpse’ hahagaga
