Chapter 247 - He will be going on a date next week. (2)
After Pu Jianyi and Jiang Danhong were gone, Wen Rugui turned to look at Tong Xuelu. “Happy birthday, Comrade Tong.”
Tong Xuelu lifted up her head and looked at him. “You’ve said that already.”
Wen Rugui blushed a little. “I want to say it again.” To make up for all the time that he had missed.
Tong Xuelu. “When do you have time off again, Comrade Wen?”
“I have no more time off.”
Tong Xuelu blinked. “I guess Comrade Wen will not have time to meet up with me then. What a bummer. I had wanted to show you the Dacron dress. I guess that won’t be happening then.”
Wen Rugui’s eyes fluttered and his heart pounded. “I can take time off.”
Tong Xuelu cocked her head and looked innocent. “Would that be not so good?”
Wen Rugui shook his head quickly. “No, it will be fine. I will get my work done first before I take time off.”
If he was to tell the dean that he had a girlfriend, he just might be able to get two weeks off!
Tong Xuelu curved her lips and said, “That’s awesome. Let’s meet up next Sunday?”
THROB! THROB! THROB!
Wen Rugui felt his heart beating madly and his cheeks burned. “Okay, let’s meet up next Sunday!”
Tong Xuelu wanted to laugh at his serious look. “Give me another minute, Comrade Wen.”
Having said that, Tong Xuelu ran back inside and brought out four more mooncakes.
“Being these with you. They are for your grandpa and Uncle Zong.”
Wen Rugui’s eyes lit up. He was worried that he would only be able to get one of the mooncakes after he got home.
Now he could hide and savor them slowly.
Tong Xuelu finally closed the door after Wen Rugui was gone.
She walked inside the living room and saw all of her siblings standing by the take and said to her in synchrony when they saw her, “Happy birthday, Big Sister!”
Having said that, the three of them pulled out their gifts for her.

Tong Jiaming and Tong Jiaxin got her a mirror together.
Tong Mianmian gave her 19 pieces of candies; she had spent a long time collecting them.
Tong Xuelu looked at them and she felt a warmth feeling inside of her. “Thank you, all of you. I like your gifts a lot.”
That put a happy smile on everyone.
Tong Mianmian pitter pattered over, put her little hands on Tong Xuelu’s cheeks and gave her a few kisses. “Big Sister is Mianmian’s favorite!”
The little bun’s big, limpid eyes twinkled and there were folds on her fair and soft cheeks from her earlier nap.
“Mianmian is Big Sister’s favorite too.”
Tong Jiaming, standing next to them, thought to himself, It wasn’t that hard to say “Big Sister” after all.
Mid-autumn festival was the next day. Tong Xuelu had planned to bring some gifts over to the other Tong family but it started to rain before day break.
The rain became heavier and heavier and it was impossible to leave the house.
She had no choice but to give up on that idea.
She went and dropped off the mooncakes to the Wei’s next door with an umbrella and the Wei’s gave her a fish in return.
As it was raining, this Mid-autumn festival did not feel festive at all. Many were not able to go moon watching because of the rain.
Old Mr. Wen, sitting on the couch and nibbling on a meat mooncake, lamented, “How did it just start to rain so abruptly?”
Receiving the mooncakes from Miss Young Grass, he was going to have Wen Rugui brought something nice back to her.
But he had to give up on that idea because of the rain.
Uncle Zong’s favorite was the red bean mooncake. “We can’t control when it rains. That being said, Miss Young Grass’s cooking is amazing. I like Commander’s earlier idea of adopting her as your granddaughter!”
If Commander adopted her as his granddaughter, he would have yummy food all the time.
Old Mr. Wen gave Wen Rugui a look, “If someone doesn’t step up soon, I will have no choice but to adopt her.”
Wen Rugui took a bite of a mooncake and his lips curved upward slightly.
He has a date with her next week.
Who was not stepping up?
