"Shit! Arggg!!!"

Lucas punched a boulder near the mountain's base in anger. He had nearly searched the entire forest. But after approximately two hours of painful search, Lucas was back at zero. He didn't find a single trace of living animals. Instead, he came across a few dead carcasses and dry blood traces.

Things were looking dire for Lucas. His passive Emergency Booster ran out long ago, and his strength was almost at its limit. Once again, the woman's voice started to whisper in his ears, urging him to hunt for humans. Earlier, he was barely holding back his sanity, but now, even a veteran like him was struggling.

Lucas's old body was shivering. His hands and legs were trembling. The veins under his wrinkly skin seemed to pop out, especially around his throat. He was continuously coughing. Dry blisters appeared on his tongue, and his throat was parched. His red glowing bloodshot eyes were constantly looking around for a sign of a life force.

"Blood!... Kuggg!!!"

There was no other option left before him. Lucas started to move once again. He promised someone in his past life to never drink humans' blood again. However, Lucas has no choice but to break that promise in this new life.

Earlier, when he came across those animal carcasses, he noticed something odd. Those animals weren't killed by another wild animal. There were traces of mana and gunpowder around them. So they were either killed by authorities due to a sudden rampage or the work of illegal smugglers.

The chance of smugglers seems more because the authorities always fire warning shots before killing. But there weren't any bullet holes in the nearby trees or boulders. The animals were killed with finesse with perfectly aligned shots. The ones who killed them went their way to pick up ammo shells and even cleared up blood traces. But blood can't escape from a vampire's eyes. This is the work of pros, probably some high-class smuggler, hopefully still hiding in the forest.

"Blood!" Lucas mumbled. He was following the red dots before his eyes. His nose picked up the scent of blood and constantly sent that information to his retina, guiding him toward his destination, the smuggler camp.

...

[Smuggler Camp] [Somewhere within the forest] [Smugglers POV]

There is a total of sixteen superhumans in that camp.

Five of them have mana. From their light robes and staff, they seem to be ranged mages. Three of them have aura. From their leather light armor and daggers on their waists, they seem to be dashers whose job is to hit and run and drain their opponents' energy. Six of them are tank-type. They are wearing heavy armor with guns, grenades, and massive shields on their back.

Finally, the last two smugglers seemed more dangerous than the others, even though they weren't wearing any strong and fancy armor. One of them was a buffed-up muscular man. His grey and white hair and wrinkles around his eyes say that his age must be within the 50s. He was cleaning a massive broad black metal sword.

The other one was a young girl. Sun-tanned skin, and blonde-short hair. She is wearing regular clothes, a tank top, and short jeans. There was a small waist bag tied to the left side of her waist. She was sitting on a wooden stump, drinking a can of beer while spinning a card on her fingertip.

From their worry-free attitude and lack of vigilance, it looks like they are either very confident that no one can find their hidden location, or maybe they don't care since there are hidden traps around their position. They are either very strong or a bunch of fools because they have no idea what's coming for them. They will soon be paying dearly, with their lives, for their overconfidence.

Inside the camp, there were three large cages. Inside those cages were six mutated white-horned tigers and two small newborn skylark-looking birds with purple thunder sparking around them.

The monsters are ranked into various categories, elements, and danger levels.

[White horned tigers are A+ Ranked monsters. They are said to be the fastest predator among the entire A Rank category. Although their attack power and endurance aren't strong like other monsters in the same category, their insane speed and poison fangs make up for those shortcomings. The transparent white horn on their head is sold for a shit ton of money in the black market. Their meat is sought as an exotic food by the nobles. And their white-striped red skin is also a rare sight even in the black market auctions.]

[Elemental Eagle, a super rare S_Ranked monster bird race. They make a great companion if trained from a young age. The younger they are, the easier it is to train and tame them. They are a species of elemental birds, and the two in the cages belong to the thunder family. An adult Eagle can grow approximately thrice the size of a regular adult eagle. They are known for their insanely high speed, attack, and AOE damage skills. However, they don't have any defensive ability, and their endurance is lower than a C_Ranked monster.]

...

The smugglers were busy with their own amusement until a red light began to blink on their wrist watch. They instantly jumped up and scattered around the camp in a blink of an eye. The tanks aimed their rifles toward the campsite.

"What the f*ck?" One of the tanks muttered in surprise.

A dried-up old man was walking toward their camp with his wobbly limbs. He was so thin and lean that one could easily mistake him for a zombie or an undead.

"Che. A freaking oldie... I thought it was those authority people. But, he looks weird..." The young girl mumbled with a disappointed expression. It looked like she had been looking for a fight, "Huh?!" Her eyes widened in shock.

The old man disappeared. He was there before her eyes just a second ago. However, before she could contemplate what was happening, two hands appeared from her rear and twisted her head backward.

"Blood!"
