Pov-John
"Why do you know the word <mana>?"
Things might not be so simple, I only want some answers, I hope you don't choose the wrong one.
"Mana... Is common in my home world. All people have mana there and it is mainly used to fuel magic." She explained as if I wasn't releasing this thick aura.
"So magic is basically mana then?"
"On... simpler terms then yes," her apathetic eyes and non-expressionless face make me believe she is lying and mocking me, but my instincts say otherwise.
"I'll trust your words, for now," I said to her as I retracted my aura. Even though my aura was dangerous I kept the range small so it didn't kill anyone.
"I still have one question though," I said to her but this time, it was not a threat.
"Why did you say that I have mana?" It was a genuine question with no tricks behind it.
"You are... Constantly absorbing mana around you which makes me think that you know how to use it. Mana can only be controlled by mages and since you can absorb one I just quickly assumed that you have mana." She said monotonously.
"One... Odd thing though," she continued.
"You have no <vein> that leads outside of your body making you unable to conjure it. Veins are passages of mana and it is also where they travel. It is also why you can recover at a fast rate."
This might have been the longest time she talked non-stopped and I am going to respect it. There is also no reason to not believe her because my instincts aren't picking up any lies. But still though...
"So I was a <half-failure> the whole time?" I murmured.
Hela tilted her head but I only brushed it off saying it's nothing. Mode three was cancelled and the originally tense atmosphere was gone.
"By the way, should I choose the mask now?"
Hela just nodded, unsurprisingly of course.
"Well then, I guess I'll choose this mask then."
I then grabbed the mask that is coloured red with black stripes on it. It looks kinda edgy but the other ones are more... Flashy I suppose.
"How do I look?" I said to Hela as I did some poses.
"It's... Great..." She didn't continue her sentence as she looked at the heart of the forest. Yeah, I felt it too, no time for fooling around.
"The intruders finally came huh?" I said to myself.
"I wonder how strong they are?" Hela said unbefitting for her apathetic face.
"Let's go," I then ran through the forest while Hela followed me.
"13, 14, 15, 17, 20, damn, there are so many of them," I guess this was to be expected. I mean, who is sane enough to infiltrate a whole city with few numbers? It's still too small for an infiltration though. Did the others go towards Rey? I pray for their safety.
I then arrived at the enemy's vicinity with a surprised face.
"Why do they look like that?" I asked myself as Hela catches up to me.
All of the enemies look like some kind of homeless people with those black... I forgot what those things are called. It's like those wrappers in a trash can.
"Magic cloaks," Hela said monotonously. What? We're going up against magicians now? I still haven't even started my first mission after vacation but are we seriously going to fight magic now?
"What are those things? Magic?" For some reason, I can't activate mode three but I guess I overused it lately.
"Magic... Cloaks are concealment items that can conceal magic and aura. It can't conceal talents though," are you a walking bikipedia? How do you know everything?
"Why is it here then?" She said that magic is common in her world but that isn't a thing here.
"I don't know... I was the only one that is transported here." She said as she bites her nails.
The walking bikipidia was short-lived. So she didn't even know them huh?
"I guess cleaning them up is the only option huh?" I asked myself.
"Welp here goes nothing."
I then aimed my gun at the closest guy to me who is still far from here, to be honest.
*bang*
I fired resulting in killing the guy.
"Shit, someone is on us," Said goon 1.
"Really? Where are they?" Said goon 2.
"They are one o'clock in the north." Said goon 3.
You are reading story The hero that was sent to another world (rewrite i guess?) at novel35.com
"This cloak is very expensive you know? How did they penetrate it?" You should really hear yourself goon 1, or maybe 3? Dunno didn't keep track of them.
*bang* *bang* *bang*
Oh look, I scored some of them.
"Gunshots, that way! Cover your positions!" Said goon uhh, 4 right?
They then took cover behind the trees, rocks and stuff so it's a bit tad harder to kill them.
"Hey Hela, what will you do here?" I said to Hela who was a bit passive here. If she is in a magical world and can fight then she should have some tactics up her sleeve.
"Just... rushed towards them," she said nonchalantly. I now doubt if you were in the magical world you're talking about.
"That's it?" I asked.
"It always works."
"Then why won't you do it here?" If she is confident about it then what can I do about it?
She nods as she changes her clothes to her old ones with some kind of magic. How convenient, as always.
She holds her sword and aimed it at the enemies as if she wants to reveal her location... Wait what?
"Get... Ready," she whispered. Her hair colour changes to green as her clothes complimented it by turning into a simple dress befitting for a picnic outing.
Her eyes which were originally black changed to green as it fully focuses on the enemies that are right in front of her.
"For you are about to die."
"Wind: sword trust"
She rushed to the enemies at the speed of sound (I think?) Crashing through the trees destroying everything on her path causing a big smoke that was too thick for me to see.
"Wh-what is that?"
"Run!"
"Disperse, disperse!"
"We were never informed about this."
They were surprised, panicking, and confused. I don't blame them though because if I were hit by that attack I'm sure that it will be very painful.
It took a while before the smoke disperses. What I saw at the end was Hela standing there piercing someone with her sword while the other guys were lying on the ground as if they were dead.
"Goddamn that was scary," look, I don't usually curse outside my mind but can you blame me? She literally destroyed everything on her path by just running and slicing.
I then walked toward her to take a closer look at her attack.
First of all, the enemies were either cut, sliced, knocked out, or pierced which means that she manually killed them one by one at those speeds until the last one. Having great control huh? I guess I shouldn't have doubted your words then.
"Hey Hela what's the name of the attack?" I asked her. I don't sense anyone alive anymore, why do my instincts keep ringing then?
"Sword... Trust. It lets me charge my attack in one direction resulting in great damage in the surrounding area. My sword trust is a little bit different though," yeah, I can see that.
"By the way, Hela, did you kill all enemies?" I asked, trying to find out why my instincts keep ringing.
"I... Think so? I can't sense anyone anymore."
So it's a false alarm then? The average times my instincts do a false alarm is 2 out of 10 which is very small but it still could happen.
"I guess my guts are wrong right now? *sigh*, I want to sleep. This has been a tiring-" I was cut off my sentence.
The sky?
My perspective immediately changes to see the sky. I can't feel my body anymore and my eyes are blurring. The sudden change made my head feel dizzy and pain in my chest lingered.
What happened?
It seems that time is moving slowly as if I have activated my mode one. Activating mode one requires something dangerous for me to happen. I feel sleepy.
Time resumed normally again but this time, I saw myself leaning on a tree trunk.
Blood?
I don't know what is happening anymore, what I saw right in front of me was a huge path of destruction and at the end of it was Hela fighting an unknown individual.
Oh, so that's it huh? I have been flung away by the enemy.
