Pov- John

Pain and blood were all over my body. Gathering my consciousness and helping her to fight is the top priority. In all my years getting hit by this was nothing, I guess I became too weak.

What did he hit me? How come I never felt him in my aura?

This guy's mission is still unknown but if I have to guess then he might be sent here to kill me.

"Anyways, I still have to get up fast or else she might lose."

The fight between Hela and the unknown assailant was fast and blurry. The fight has one dominating side though and the enemy has it.

Hela was using her Rapier and the guy that she was fighting was using two butterfly knives.

Hela was parrying every single attack the black cloak guy did but she is slowly getting overwhelmed.

What's weird about this is that Hela is not worried at all and she feels like this is under control. The fight is also getting farther and farther away from my location. Was this your plan? I guess I underestimated you a bit.

Thankfully I survived without any critical injuries so being dead is out of the question. Though I am pretty weak right now and it's a bit hard to move.

Do I really have to use it here?

...

It seems that I got no choice. This is better than being a burden lying on the ground while some girl is protecting me.

[MODE 4]

I activated mode 4 lifting all of my body limitations in exchange for absolute pain that will come right after.

I grabbed my gun, aimed it at the enemy, and fired.

"Eat this," I said as the bullet was fired going at him at a faster speed than a normal bullet.

The reason for this is that a certain <someone> modified it after I visited him making my ordinary gun a type B- in terms of ranking. One unexpected thing happened though.

"He blocked it?!!"

The enemy uses his knife to block the bullet I fired without even looking at me and that was not even the worse part. He parries the bullet changing its direction to my location in an instant. The way he did it... It's too familiar.

I then fired my gun again aiming at the parried bullet attempting to block it.

The collisions of the two bullets made a grenade explosion that can easily knock me out in my current condition. That was close.

Hela seems to finally notice me as she jumps back to my side while preparing for another stance again.

"I... Seems to have overestimated your durability," did she come here just to insult me?

"Don't worry about me, I'll just cover you from the distance," I ignored her insult as I point my gun toward the cloaked guy with an aura full of killing intent. This guy... Something about him isn't right.

Hela seems to be surprised based on her expression and her feelings.

"I... Never felt your killing intent before," she murmured something but it was too silent and I was pretty much focused on the guy we are facing watching his every little move.

"Let's go!"

I fired my gun again but this time, it was a double click.

The enemy then rushed towards my position but was quickly blocked by Hela as they clashed once more.

My strategy right now is to time my bullets every time they would clash making them harder to hit. Though it seems that it's still not working.

"He's still blocking it while attacking Hela?"

I fired and fired until I almost ran out of bullets. This seems to be the signal from him so he immediately rushed toward me ignoring Hela in the process.

This move is expected though!

He is right now 1 or 2 meters away from me. I threw the magazine at his face seemingly just to distract him but there is more than that.

Explode!

The magazine exploded right into his face making me doubt if he would even survive it. He wasn't the only one that was affected though.

Shit, this is painful.

The explosion was close to where I am so it affected me quite a bit.

The detonation made a mini smoke that covered his face making it harder to notice if it worked or not. There is something that he did that surprised me the most though.

Not even a second later he appeared through the smoke as if he never stopped running toward me.

[MODE 1]

Mode 1 suddenly activated making me see what's the face of the guy that is beating me to death and oh god his face is roughed up.

His face was too bloody and he was missing one eye. He looks unfazed by the explosion making me think if he was never been scared before. There is this thing that bothered me the most though.

I can't read him, his emotions and feelings are empty, almost as if he is not a living being. This is bad.

You are reading story The hero that was sent to another world (rewrite i guess?) at novel35.com

His case is similar to someone I know in the past, too familiar in fact that I wouldn't even be surprised if he was the same person.

There's no time for this, gotta think of something.

His knife was getting closer every passing second to the point that it is almost impossible to dodge.

Desperate, I just tried to parry the whole shit with my left hand while aiming my gun at his face.

Time resumed normally which made me panic a little bit.

His knife pierces my hand making me feel sharp pain but I couldn't care less about that.

"Eat this," I said to him as I fired my last bullet directly in his face at point-blank range.

He blocked it.

No, it's more appropriate to say that he deflected it. His hand speed was so tremendous that he could immediately block it with his other knife while releasing his main one trying to aim it at my neck.

[MODE 1]

Mode 1 activated again as I fell back unnaturally dodging the knife while placing my hands on the ground and kicking him in the solar plexus.

I then rotated myself kicking him in the side making him fly just stopping on a nearby tree.

Shit, that was close. Almost died there.

Mode 1 was always my life saviour in these kinds of situations making me glad that I had that kind of talent. The aftermath of the mode is also not that bad because it's just pain and not an injury.

I got up from my position while just looking at the enemy with a neutral face, My mind was still somewhere else.

His movements and expressions are still way too similar to his. Are you related to him or not?

The enemy then got up with blood everywhere on his body and his cloak. He stares at me with an indifferent face as if he doesn't care about killing me at all.

You're way too similar to him.

[MODE 3-1]

"Do you know someone named... 68?" I threatened him.

He stayed silent, not making any sounds at all as if he didn't hear me.

I looked behind me and saw Hela charging up some kind of attack aiming at the enemy. So that is what you were doing the whole time? Not helping me at all?

"Wind: percutiens"

She said some kind of chant before she rushed toward the enemy with a single trust.

It was similar to the attack she did on me but weaker and faster.

In fact, it was so fast that it all seems to be just a natural flow of nature as if I am used to seeing this kind of event.

The enemy tried to block it but failed to do so as Hela's rapier just slipped through his defence as if it was his fate to die there.

"You killed him?" I asked. That guy has something that I needed to know but to think she just jumped in and killed him herself is a bit disappointing.

"This guy was... Being controlled by magic," she said ignoring my question.

"Is that why he was fearless earlier?" I asked and she nodded while changing back to her old form.

Magic huh? There are still so many questions unanswered but all of them lead to magic. Coincidence? I don't know myself.

"Oh, someone is calling," I said to myself as I turned off my mode 3. Wait, was that activated the whole time?

{Yo John! How ya doing?} It was Rey.

"Was awful, almost died, again."

{Hmm, gotta fix those habits of yours being always almost dead.}

"I... Never mind," what can I do about it? Die?

"By the way, how strong are your enemies there?" I asked.

{Hmm, they were better than expected. I didn't kill them though. You know, I'm retired and am only doing this because the city was in danger.}

If I remember correctly, Rey retired because he got tired of killing people. We didn't stop him though and I don't remember why. All things in the past I guess.

"Anyways, good luck on coming... Home."

My eyes started to get blurry and my head started spinning. I fell to the ground and I can't hear anything anymore.

Oh, mode 4 ended huh?

Thus, I lost consciousness.
