5 weeks passed and Helen looked worse

It was nighttime, the Wincenty house was quiet and in a somber mood.

Yuki and Kyomi have done everything in their power to help her, from different medicines to blood transfusions to help her regenerate her mana.

"She still hasn't improved at all... I'm sorry" the doctor spoke after checking Helena, the girl was asleep, her skin was very pale, and her chest went up and down with more difficulty. She was lying on a large bed, she was wearing her pajamas, a white blouse that, together with her pale skin, gave her the appearance of a porcelain doll.

Around her were Yuki, Kyomi, and Andrew.

"Are you sure doctor, you couldn't have made a mistake?" asked Yuki as she looked at her daughter, she looked so fragile, she could see that each day that passed her daughter had trouble breathing and that she would soon die.

"I'm sorry, her magic core wasn't developed enough to generate the amount of mana she used, my only advice would be to spend as much time as you can with her, from what I've seen she only has a few weeks left" the Doctor told them sadly.

Yuki couldn't take the news and collapsed on her knees crying, Kyomi knelt next to her, hugged her, and started comforting her.

Seeing that he had done his job and that he couldn't do anything else, the Doctor walked out the door and didn't use magic so as not to interrupt the mourning family.

Andrew just froze, he couldn't believe it, his second chance at a new life and he was going to lose a friend, unable to control his emotions, he left the room crying. No mother stopped him as they felt the same.

"* Snif * Yuki, you can't give up" Kyomi said to her best friend while she tried to stop her tears, Yuki looked at her with emotionless eyes.

"What *snif* can I do *snif* you heard *snif* my daughter is going to die, *snif* without a husband *snif* and now I'll lose my daughter, all because I didn't take care of her" Yuki said as she cried even harder.

Kyomi hugged her friend tightly, letting her tears wet her shoulder.

"Shh…. I know you lost too much, that's why since that day I promised myself that you would never suffer again" Kyomi thought as she clenched her teeth from the rage she had, there she was with her friend, the same scene as when she learned of her husband's death.

While this was happening, Kyomi didn’t notice a book that was lighting up, little by little it rose, throwing itself at Kyomi, hitting her in the head causing her to fall backwards, Yuki, seeing her friend lying on the floor, worried, forgetting her sadness.

"Kyomi!" Yuki yelled as she checked her friend, thanks to the blow she was a little disoriented, looking at the ground she could see what hit Kyomi. It was an old book.

It have a leather cover, this was worn and torn, curiosity invaded her and she picked up the book, having it in her hands it opened, the pages moved on their own until they stopped.

Still, with curiosity invading her, she began to read, standing up Yuki sat close to her daughter as she read the page, for each paragraph she read her heart pounded and filled with hope.

"Ah, what happened" Kyomi wondered as she stood up from the ground, looked around her, and she could see how her friend was sitting on the bed next to her daughter.

Kyomi walked over to Yuki, putting her hand on her shoulder, and calling out to her to get her attention.

"Yuki" she told her, but her friend didn't pay attention to her, her gaze was fixed on the book, for each page she read from it, her happiness increased. Kyomi, seeing that she couldn't get Yuki attention, moved away from her, perhaps she needed time, besides, she had to comfort her son, Gods knows how he felt.

…..

Kyomi walked to her son's room, as she walked, she could see how her maids and her butlers gave her pitying looks and lowered their heads in a sign of respect for Helens condition.

After several minutes Kyomi managed to reach her son's room, standing in front of the door, she prepared herself, but first, she needed to clean her face of all the makeup that she had, her tears have made that it was running down her cheeks, using a spell she was able to create a sphere of water bringing it on to her face it absorbed everything, closing her fist it disappeared. Raising her hand, she knocked on the door

*knock* *knock* *knock*

"Andrew, are you there?" Kyomi asked as she looked at the door expecting it to open at any moment, seeing that it wouldn't open she decided to enter by herself. Upon entering she could see that the room was dark, moving her hand she used a spell that allowed her to see in the dark, feeling satisfied she closed the door, she approached her son's bed, as she walked, she observed the room.

The room was quite simple having only three objects: his bed, wardrobe, and nightstand. For her it was very strange, while other children had their rooms full of toys and other luxurious objects, her son did not, even when he was a baby he was quite simple. As she approached, she could hear how her son cried, those tears broke her soul.

Andrew did not know what to do, he was not a young man who could go on an adventure to save his friend, this was not a video game or a book, it was real life, he could only sit and do nothing and watch as Helen slowly died before his eyes.

"Andrew" his mother called him

Andrew was so scared, he was so deep in his thoughts that he hadn't noticed his mother call for him,she took off the sheet that covered him, he tried to look at his mother in the dark.

"Ah... my little one...don’t cry, come with mommy... you'll see everything will be fine" her mother told him, Andrew didn't hesitate and hugged her, while he started crying again. His mother didn't say anything and just started rubbing his back.

Andrew cried until he fell asleep, Kyomi, seeing that her son had fallen asleep, smiled, being careful, she put her son back on the bed. Getting up she looked at the clock, 10:00 pm it read. Sighing she opened the door only to be hugged by someone, it was Yuki who was crying again.

"I found it" Yuki whispered through tears, Kyomi grabbed her friend by the shoulders

"What did you find" I ask her calmly, she was a little worried, a few hours ago she was crying with sadness, but now they were tears of happiness

"I found a possible cure for Helen, but I need your help" Yuki answered seriously.

"It can't be possible you heard the Doctor" Kyomi told her, as she separated from her and grabbed her shoulders to look into her eyes.

"Let's go to my room, there I can explain to you" Yuki told her as she started to drag her friend to her room Kyomi was just a little annoyed and true they needed privacy.

Upon entering the room, Kyomi used her magic to put up several specialized magic barriers to block out any noise in the room, turning around and looking at Yuki seriously. "Tell me"

Yuki just smiled, using her magic she teleported the book into her hand, opening it and showing the contents to Kyomi

"Read" Yuki said to Kyomi

Kyomi listened and began to read, while she was surprised, whoever had written the book had done a lot of research, it seemed that this book was one of the hundreds that her family had managed to get during the one hundred sun war.

"I can't deny it... his theory about it is right, but you would really risk it, we don't know if it would work" Kyomi told her as she looked sadly at her friend.

"It has to work it's my only solution, please help me Kyomi... help me save my daughter, help me save my only reason to living" Yuki told her as she looked at her best friend with tears in her eyes her.

"* Sigh *okay, let's go now, let's not waste time" Kyomi said agreeing to help her friend, a magic circle came out of her hand from there two hoods came out these could cover them completely. "Put it on, with this they won't be able to detect our magic or identity, what we're going to do goes against the inquisition, you know" Kyomi spoke to her as she put on her hood.

"I know... but everything is worth it for Helen... besides, I would do the same for you" Yuki replied as she also put on her hood

"I know" Kyomi said as Yuki hugged her from behind, in a flash both disappeared.

A day later as an act of magic Helen recovered, and the town of Emerald celebrated the recovery with a great party. Currently, Helen was dancing whit Andrew.

So much was happiness that nobody did notice the sad faces of both mothers.

"Yuki... I hope that what we did doesn't have serious consequences" Kyomi said to Yuki as she watched Helen dance with her son.

"I can only hope... and if there are let's hope that they aren’t too serious" Yuki said to her mother, as they entered the mansion, although they managed to save Helena and they felt happy, their guilt did not help them, the price was too great.

The years passed, and both mothers were more attentive to their children, but over time their attention was more focused on Helen.

As the years passed, Andrew noticed that he was being ignored, his mother didn’t show any interest in his achievements from creating a small creek on his hand to combat a drought for the local farmers, his mother didn’t praise his achievement only the peasants did. But then Helen came and made the fields heal whit a combination of water and earth magic somehow the combination healed the dirt and helped the crop field.

Sometimes he asks himself if he was important because why not?

He was isekai like in his Japanese novels and mangas.

Putting aside those thoughts he could only hope that in the coming years his luck will improve and that he will have his cheat power activated…Because he was the protagonist, right?

Narrator Andrew/Andy

Fate hates me, first, my childhood friend gets hurt, only to miraculously recover, to later master everything she learns, a prodigy was what everyone said, causing my own efforts and achievements to be ignored by everybody.

When I was 10 years old, I managed to make a jet of water come out of my fingers, my mother did not scold me this time but neither congratulate me while Helen, being 9, made a ball of magic form in her hand, then she threw it to the sky and after several seconds it started to snow and the worst thing was that it happened while we were in town.

At 12 she managed to defeat a giant with just one fist using her magic to give herself a rock fist fused with fire, a week later the sect of the white lady was looking for her since Helen had surprised them, the sect begged Helen to join since she has a gift with magic, Helena as the typical perfect girl was embarrassed and happily accepted it with a smile.

Helena now went to the sect every day to give her help, from cleaning to healing and helping the sick.

It didn't bother me since it came from her heart and gave me time for my op power to activate.

Now I'm 13 years old, and I'm still waiting for my cheat, and if it doesn't activate now, maybe it will when I'm 18. Now that I am 13 I was being tutored by some teachers my mother brought, they began to teach me about trade and diplomacy, this was difficult for me, but my mother supported me. until I fail a supposedly important exam, from that day on they don't even teach me anything, since I didn't have the talent and began to focus on Helen.

It bothered me a lot and I tried to talk to my mother, but she just told me "Don't worry, we'll talk about this" every day it was the same until I decided to give up.

Right now, I was at Helen house in the dining room eating since in a few days Helen was going to have her birthday and she decided to invite us to spend the week at her house.

"Andy"

Looking to the left I could see Helena trying to get my attention, I kept looking at her, I better ignore her who knows what she will get me into.

"Andy"

"Andy"

I looked back at my food this was a mixture of grains with meat.

"Andy"

"Andy"

"Do not ignore me"

Ah, well I tried it, my mother gave me a look, I better pay attention to her.

"What happened Helena?" I asked her as she put my utensils on the table.

"Do you want to come to my room, I want to show you what I learned 'Helena told me while she smiled from ear to ear

I wanted to say no, but from the corner of my eye, I could see how my mother was watching me intently.

"Why not" I told her, I didn't want to make my mother angry.

Helena was excited by my answer and without thinking she was already asking her mother.

"Mommy! Mommy! I can take Andrew to my room, I want to show him something" Helena asked her mother Kyomi, who was sitting next to my mother eating.

Kyomi stopped eating to look at her daughter.

"Hum, what do you think Yuki, we should let Helen take Andrew to her room" Kyomi asked my mother, she also stopped eating, she looked at me and then looked at my mother, she smiled at me.

"Hm, okay, but don't do anything wrong, we'll be watching you" my mother said as she went back to eating.

"Well, you heard her, she gave you approval" Kyomi told us as she went back to eating.

Helena could be seen excitedly, standing up and grabbing my hand.

"Come on Vici" she told me as she started to , drag me, on the way we passed by guards and servants.

The servants looked at us happily while the guards looked at me and gave me signs, which was that they were watching me.

In the end, we managed to get to Helen room, when I entered, I was surprised, the last time I was in her room it was full of plushies now they were replaced with books. The books were everywhere stacks of them were even on the floor.

"Sorry for the mess, I was very busy yesterday" Helen told me as she picked up each book from the floor and read her covers, it took about five minutes until she found what she wanted

"Aha I found it, now give me your hand" Helen told me as she opened the book and she began to look for a page until she found the one she was looking for.

I really did not trust her, even if they called her a prodigy, I must take care of myself, who knows what she’s gonna do.

"Why" I asked Helen, she looked at me until she opened her eyes realizing her mistake.

"I'm sorry, I need it to teach you what I learned, it's fast" Helen told me

"No, explain to me what you want to do and I'll give you my hand" I told her as I hid my hands behind my back.

Helen looked at me annoyed

"Okay, you ruined the surprise" Helen told me as she sat on her bed which was the only thing without books.

"Sit next to me and I'll tell you" she told me with a smile

Wanting to know what she wanted I sat next to her

"You see, thanks to my studies and advanced knowledge in magic, I have been able to reconstruct some of the most difficult spell in the world" Helen spoke while she smiled at me

"Oh really, congratulations and what is it?" I asked her, I was very curious, also how Helena achieved it I already know that she is a prodigy, but she is barely 10 years old.

"Well, this spell will allow us to discover our own red thread" Helen told me as she jumped on the bed with excitement

While she was excited, I was scared, she was talking about the legend of the red thread, an invisible red cord that will make me meet my true love.

"Yes, with that spell we can see who our true love will be... I hope it's you" I heard Helena speak, but I couldn't hear what she whispered.

"You know, Helen, let's not do this, love must be found in life, not forced towards a person who doesn't even know you, you decide your true love, not destiny" I told her as I stood up from the bed to leave the room.

Looking back, I could see Helen with tears in her eyes.

"But... I don't want to wait, I want to see who my true love is, I want to know who he is, I want to know if he is a good person, if he’s the person that I’m in love" Helen told me as she stood up from her bed to walk towards me.

"I don't want a red thread to decide my destiny in love, that's why I want to do it, I want to know if our red thread already has someone connected and if it does, I will do everything in my power to break that thread" Helen told me as she stood up In front of me, she had her arms crossed and was looking straight into my eyes.

"Helena...remember that it's only a legend, love is not fated but one must find it...let's go back to eating, let's leave this behind" I spoke to him as I opened the door.

"Nope!" but I couldn't because Helena grabbed my hand, which made me lose the grip on the door.

"I won't let you go, first do the spell with me and we'll go down, I promise" Helena spoke to me as she released me, and she played with her fingers nervously.

"Okay, make it quick, put only one time, promise" I told Helen as she looked at her with the most serious look she could muster.

"I promise" Helen told me with her irritated voice "Put your hand on top of mine, and I'll start the spell" she told me as she raised her left hand.

Ignoring her, I placed my right hand on top of her left.

"Let's start, first you must close your eyes or you will go blind, besides the fact that I alone can see them since I myself will act as the catalyst for this" Helena explained to me as she looked at me, she was waiting for her to close her eyes.

"Just don't hurt yourself" I told her as she closed her eyes.

"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing" Helen told me as she put her other hand on top of mine.

While she had her eyes closed I could hear Helena beginning to whisper a charm, the atmosphere in the room turned cold, my skin was getting cold and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I could feel myself getting a little sleepy and a little pain from my chest.

After several minutes I could feel the room return to normal.

"Are you done" I asked Helena, she was very quiet.

"Yes" she told me sadly.

"You can open your eyes now, I'm done" Helena said with her voice a little muffled.

Paying attention to the opening, in front of her was Helena, but she had her back to me.

"And what did you see, tell me “ She asked, she was very curios, since she was impatient to do the spell.

"Your thread is alone" she told me while she still had her back to me.

"My thread is alone, that's good, you see I told you one’s true love must be found" I asked him.

"Yeah... now you can go," Helena told me as she walked over to her bed.

"Did something happened" I asked as I walked to the door.

"Nothing, I just want to be alone" Helena told me as she lay face down on her bed.

Keeping quiet I left the room to go to the guest room to sleep, that spell really made me sleepy, so I went to my room to sleep. I hope my mother can forgive me for missing dinner.

She didn't know how to feel, on the one hand, Andrew's red string is alone, but on the other hand, her string was not alone but joined with another.

Raising her head, she could still see it coming out of her hearth and running all the way out of the room to where true love was supposed to be.

Looking at it she couldn't help but scream into the pillow…it wasn't fair.

She had liked Andrew for a long time, she did not accept it, no matter who her destiny would be, she would ignore it, her heart only belonged to Andrew, even if he did not know it.

She could still remember when the order of the lady in white sought her out and begged her to join.

What an embarrassment, being pleaded with in front of your own crush.

Just thinking that she already had a supposed true love filled her with rage.

It wasn't fair, as Andrew said, she should be able to choose her own love and she already had it.

But she knew that she should calm down, no matter what she did she knew that according to legend they would always meet and marry.

Her destiny was already decided and the only thing she could be was regret, since that day in the forest she had focused on improving in everything, so she decided to surpass everyone in the materials that her tutors taught her from magic to any subject.

From that day on she began to practice her magic every night, her goal being to protect herself but more importantly Andrew. But from what she saw her destiny prevented her, no, she would not give up here, no matter what the legend says, that the red thread represents your destined future, there is always a solution for every problem.

You just had to look for it, for every problem there was always a solution.

[You want to change your destiny] whispered a female voice

Scared Helen got out of bed and started looking everywhere

[Accept and all your wishes will come true] it whispered again

[ding] sounded a song in front of me

Looking in front of her she could see how a piece of paper floated in front of her, it was transparent. Helen got closer and she could see it had something written on it

[You want to accept the system]

[Yes or no]

I tried to touch it, but my hand went through it

"What are you?"  Helen asked at the paper, she had already studied a lot about magic, but he had never seen anything like this.

[I am the system]

"It doesn't help much, explain me in more detail." Asked Helen

[The system is forgotten magic that has been created to help the host in their daily life, it makes the host life easier by teaching them their characteristics, diseases, missions, etc].

[According to some rules this is the only information I can give you, if you want to know more you must accept].

“That doesn't help at all, I still have doubts” though Helen

"why did you choose me" Helen asked suspiciously

[The system chooses those who want to change their destiny. The system is capable of great viciousness, according to your DNA one of your ancestors was a carrier of the system. He used the system to change his fate just like you will]. it asked

"Changing my destiny, impossible, but if it's true maybe it can help me with my red thread." though Helen

"If I accept the system, will I or any of my loved ones be harmed? Will I stop being human?" Helen asked a little scared

[No, the system is designed to sever the ties of the user's destiny, it makes the user master of his own life, any action or decision of the user will be voluntary].

"My only chance to change my destiny…..my only chance to end  whit the one I love….looking in front of me, I decided” Helen finally decided

"I agree" she said whit determination while pushing the yest button

[System is installing, please wait]

In an out-of-this-world dimension, you could see thousands of planets lined up in a single row.

These stretched as far as the human eye could see, each of these planets was the same, and none of them rotated. It seemed as if they were frozen in time. Frozen, unmoving like fate intended to be but something changed.

One of the planets began to try to move, little by little it tried to rotate until suddenly.

*crack*

*Boom*

It began to rotate, the planet slowly began to leave that row of planets, its movement was slow, but its movement made the universe itself scream in agony.

Slowly it moved out of the row, the vacant place  it left became a dark cloud that devoured the nearest planets. While others just surrounded them like a virus.

With that decision, Helen had not only changed her destiny, but also her world's.
