I sighed, as I walked back towards my lair, a part of me wished to fight those church members as I wanted to test out my combat prowess against stronger opponents. I surprised myself since I had thought about fighting then, though I usually never had any desire to fight, though maybe after my transformation, I gained some sort of desire for battle? It was at that moment, that a bright, sinister light lit up within my brain. My desire is for knowledge of all kinds, and of course, there is knowledge to be learned from battle. At that moment, if I was in my human form you would see a twisted smile slowly crawl along my face.
As I strolled through the forest, towards my lair, I spotted something odd laying down at the entrance to the cave. There were two young, dark-elven children laying in a pool of their own blood. I approached the unfortunate souls, then after realizing they recently died, I let out a maniacal laugh that echoed out into the sky. After that I looked around the area, eventually finding the parents, who were beheaded. Of course, I buried them, I am not so bad that I would let their dear parents get ravaged by hungry beasts. I then went back and picked up the bodies of the twins, taking them into my lair. Analyzing the bodies, I had seen something quite peculiar, small bites on their necks and four oddly long eye teeth, decorating the twin's mouths.
Luckily, there is a 24th-rank necromancy spell that allows the caster to revive the recently dead. This spell works similarly to a vampire's bite, as it turns the target into their kin, who cannot betray them, but also allows them to live until the caster dies. So basically, these children will become my own. I am not such a monster who would leave poor children when I could save them. Though they will most likely be afraid of me since I am an undead creature, I hope they will not stay that way forever. Ah yes! I suddenly realized, I need to collect blood for these children, as they are vampires after all. So I summoned a Darkness Knight and sent it to go gather some blood, with vials I had given it of course.
[Kin Revival], With the spell cast, I could feel the life force of the once deceased twins return to their cold bodies, their bodies slowly warming, as their blood heated up with life. I carried the sound-asleep twins into one of the guest rooms, tucking them into their bed. I then sat in the corner of the dimly lit bedroom reading a book, waiting for their sleep to end. With the Kin Revival spell, I was able to read their memories. The poor things were turned by a vampire when they had been out playing, then their own parents tried to kill them for being vampires. I can’t just leave these little children now, I must take them into my care. I could study their blood magic eventually, but I must focus on one thing at a time.
I heard faint whispering, as I sat in the shadows of the dimly lit room. “Ah young ones, it seems you have awoken.” I said approaching them as I emerged from the dark corner, my ominous eye sockets glowing a faint purple. They jumped back in fear, with their deep crimson eyes widened, huddling together as they saw my form. “Do not be afraid little ones, we are the same, someone who was turned into a monster.” I said trying to reassure them. But alas, my skeletal form is most frightening to people as they still looked at me with fear… I sighed, “If you wish it, you may stay here with me in my lair, and you will receive my protection. Or you may leave, and fend for yourselves in the dark.” This may be harsh, but it is my way of getting them to stay. I swear, I just don’t understand why people are afraid of skeletons, as everyone is technically one, just covered in fle– ah yes, I think I understand now.
Suddenly a light lit up within my head, as I came up with quite a good idea. Children like food, correct? So maybe I can gain their trust by filling their tiny stomachs, My dearest grandmother once told me; “The way to gain someone's trust is by filling their stomachs.” I had to laugh as I came up with such a wonderful idea, thank you, dear grandmother. Ah just in time, I thought as my Darkness Knight emerged from the floor handing me the vials of blood. The twins shrunk further back as they saw the knight, not a peep of sound coming from their frightened mouths. Although once they saw the blood in the vial, their mouths unconsciously drooled, sending me into a burst of mad laughter within my mind, as I was successful.
“Here little ones, drink up, this will renourish your body.” I said while handing them the vials. It surprised me to see how hungry the children were when they snatched the vials out of my hand, downing them in mere seconds. I then let out a deep laugh as I had seen them drink it so quickly, “Do you feel better now?” They jumped when I let out such a bellowing laugh, but they nodded, answering my previous question. After that, I had given the children a fairytale book to read. I watched the sister read it to the brother whom apparently couldn’t read, I would have to teach him. But for now, I had no time to do that as I would be receiving some unhappy visitors soon.
