Cedric sat on a seat in his room and was tapping his finger on the table continuously.
It was a way that helped Cedric think more efficiently.
“A B+ rank talent absorbs Mana at a rate of 0.05 mana per second so it will only collect 180 mana in an hour of mana absorption while the talent eldest brother has, S rank would absorb 0.2 mana per second, collecting 720 mana per hour. Our differences are too big. Moreover, due to the age gap between us, I’ll require more time, ” Cedric said and covered his eyes with his hands.
For a person who had awakened a B+ rank talent, it would take him around a year’s non-stop meditation to reach the grandmaster rank.
A person becomes an apprentice at 1,000 mana and then it keeps on increasing tenfold by the next rank.
Becoming a grandmaster requires 1,000,000 mana.
Cedric curled his arm and put it on his eyes as he leaned back on the chair. After a while, he got calm again and started thinking of ways out of the situation to survive.
“Should I run away? No, they’ll catch me. Should I ask for protection from a relative? No, no relative is stronger than my siblings. What about father? Yeah, he doesn’t care… One last option is to create a fake disability. I can probably act to get blind while doing something and thus, I will myself be exempted from this killing saga.” Cedric said.
He was thinking about more things when a knock came on the door.
“Come in,” Cedric said. He quickly straightened his back and started to act as if he was writing something.
“Young Lord Seventh, I am leaving. I hope that you have a good life in the future.” The nanny said while bowing in front of Cedric and holding a big bag in her hands.
Cedric went ahead and hugged her once. Cedric maybe someone who does not trust people but he is not someone without feelings. He was intensely sad about his nanny’s departure.
“Young Lord, may I say something, not as your nanny but as an old woman who has lived out her life?”
Cedric nodded, permitting his nanny to speak.
“Always remember that the people around you are not always bad or untrustable.”
“But nanny, you also know what kind of people I am surrounded with, don’t you?” Cedric asked.
“I know that is why I said ‘not always bad’. Some people are indeed good and only want to help you.” The nanny said.
She then proceeded to keep her hand on Cedric's head. It was a way that the elders gave blessings to the younger generations.
“I’ll leave now, young lord.” The nanny said and then turned around.
Cedric did not speak anything and just stood there as he saw his nanny leave.
When she finally left, Cedric felt his heartbeat getting fast and his body’s temperature rising. A sharp pain rose from his hands to his arms and then spread further to his body.
He felt his apprentice-level mana disappear from his body. It was as if it was getting consumed by something.
Slowly his body felt very weak and he fell. As he was losing consciousness, he could feel the blood flowing out of his nose and mouth.
He was not even able to shout or call for help while losing consciousness.
Meanwhile, in school.
Oscar sat in front of the principal while his class teacher and vice-principal stood right behind the principal.
The principal was an old man with white hair and a short height. He sat on the seat as he talked to Oscar.
“My child, what have you decided for the future? Which Academy would you like to go to?” The principal asked.
“I plan on going to the National Academy of fighters,” Oscar said.

“So, the royal academy where the commoners are accepted too. A good choice indeed, you would get a seat easily with your talent level. Anyways, you still have a month before the academy starts so, the school will be providing you with safety till the next month. There will be two knights and one aura user with you.” The principal said.
Oscar nodded.
He was about to get up and ask for permission to leave when he heard the principal say,” Don’t forget us when you make it big, Kid.”
“Yes sir,” Oscar said and then turned around to leave.
He left the room and soon he left the building too. He looked around and saw no student around so he walked back to his house.
He walked through narrow streets with smelly drains in the corners. A lot of houses stood there without any paint on them.
Kids played while wearing torn clothes.
Oscar entered one of the houses without paint. It was his house. In his house, he lived along with his two younger siblings, an elder sibling and his mother. His father died a few years ago after an alcohol overdose; since then, his mother and elder brother have been earning money and bringing home food.
Oscar saw his mother sitting and waiting for him.
As soon as she saw Oscar, she got up and asked him,” How was your awakening son?”
Oscar put his hands on her shoulder and said,” It was a good one, mom. I have the potential to become a Sword Lord.”
Tears came into Oscar’s mother’s eyes as she fell to her knees and said,” Our family will finally have some good time.”

By now, Cedric regained consciousness and found himself lying on the floor.
He could still feel weakness all over his body and a little dizziness in his head. He put his hand on the ground and found some liquid touching his hand.
“What the fuck is this now?” Cedric said without looking down.
When he looked down, he saw that he lay in his room, right in front of his bed in a pool of blood.
“W-Why is there so much blood?” Cedric said. Then he remembered that right before he lost consciousness, there was some blood coming out of his nose and mouth.
He quickly stood up and ran to the mirror. There he found blood frozen around the skin under his nose and lips but, there were also trails of blood falling from his ears and his eyes.
“What the fuck just was this?” Cedric wondered as he panicked. This was a situation that would panic anyone. He suddenly felt a sharp pain over his body and blood flowed out of his body.
At this moment, a reddish screen with curvy corners appeared in front of his eyes.
[Bound to the host]
[Would the host like to…
The screen said something to Cedric in his mind but he did not pay attention to it. What he saw was that he could see the screen in front of him but it was not getting reflected in the mirror.
“Is this some auditory illusion due to the recent loss of blood?”
