As an hour passed the door to the room opened and out came both the woman from before and an older white robbed old man. He had to have been at least in his fifties to look the way he did but he moved as if he was twenty. His face had many wrinkles, and both his facial and head hair was the color white with a distinctive slash scar on his right eye. The man was tall and built like he was some form of a fighter.
This man’s eyes looked as if he had seen many things that no human should ever see.
And those eyes were looking directly at me.
“So, you are not the black demon yet you possess his body? A very strange thing to happen to someone of your…position. What proof do you have of any of this?” He said right as he got on one knee directly next to my bed.
“Well, I don’t remember a single damn thing that that man has ever done. My memories of being of living my life on a farm are still there. And for one thing, I’m nineteen, yet this body screams thirty. So old man…I ain’t got any proof that I am a different person other than my own sentiment…but I have a feeling you don’t believe that either.” I said looking right back at the old man with a look of annoyance.
“Well for starters you talk, act, and even sound different than him. Maybe you really aren’t Zhiyuan.” The old man said as he grabbed my head opening up my eyelid.
“Hey! What are you doing?!?” I said as I twitched my body.
“Just looking at your iris…hm…yeah…this man isn’t Zhiyuan…He’s telling the truth.” The old man said as he let go of my face.
“How can you tell?” Said the woman from before now looking even more confused.
“Because Fang Hu I’ve seen what Zhiyuan’s soul looked like when I trained him. And well this man’s soul is clearly the opposite. For all intents and purposes, Zhiyuan is gone or possibly somewhere else and were left with well…this loser.” Said the old man as he pointed back at me when he said loser.
“Hey! I’m right here ya know.”
“That’s why I said it you fool. You don’t realize what’s in store for you. The goddesses and immortals hate you, the living mortals hate you, and even worse even the other terrorist groups hate you. So no matter where you will go you will suffer unless someone can tell that you aren’t actually the black demon.” Said the old man as he sat back down on the chair in the room.
“So what does that mean for me? Do I just give up and let someone kill me?”
“Well, if you wish to. Nothing much I can help you with other than offer you a slap on the back and the words good luck. Besides, you won’t make it anywhere near the border if you don’t know how to fight and by the looks of your soul…you’re a wimp.”
“Hey! Fuck you old man. If maybe I learned how to fight then I could take down every single one of the enemies of this grand old Zhiyuan. Don’t write me off as someone so incompetent!” I proclaimed staring down at the old man with anger.
“Well then transmigrator you sure as shit ain’t going to learn how to fight from any of us considering that if we so much as be seen around you we’ll be killed ourselves. So, you’re on your own.” Said the old man grabbing a knife and slicing the rope that restrained me.
“Now get out of here before we kill you ourselves.” The old man said opening the door for me to walk out of.
I didn’t bother to say anything. Instead, I just walked out and made my way out of the house. Whatever these interiors were of the home they looked quite nice. Nicer than the simple cabins at aunties’ and uncles’ farms. The room was lit up by many lanterns alongside furniture I had never seen. Even the wooden carvings on the house were quite beautiful. But I wasn’t here to look at the house…I was here to leave.
As I opened the door the carriage remained right by the side of of the home and in it was the black demon mask I had been wearing. This mask gave me the title of the black demon and in the end it certainly was recognizable to anyone who saw it. So why keep it? Why not get rid of it?
I don’t why I placed the mask back on. All I knew was that mask would only bring me pain but some strange feeling that I would need it later. This feeling, it wasn’t anything like I had felt before. It was almost like a hand came over my hand as I placed it over me. Was this the act of some other entity or an action I was ovethinking of.
I don’t think I’d know myself.
As I walked through the village at night everyone was asleep in there homes. The only people out here were either drunks or the homeless. The ground may have been made of stone but the homes were made of wood. Long and tall they stood with peoples windows closed.
Looking forward the road led directly to the exit. No one was there which seemed odd but I didn’t question it much. All I could think to do was leave and not come back.
I needed to learn how to fight. If I was damned to live this life with the only way I could redeem myself being tearing down everything Zhiyuan had built. But what did that mean? Did that mean killing everyone he ever knew or worked with? And where would those people even be? Not like they’ll just appear before me right?
“Zhiyuan! Over here! Hey!” Said an unfamiliar masculine voice in front of me.
Looking up I could see why there were no guards at the gates of the walled village…they had been slaughtered. But by whom?
You are reading story The Masked Black Demon (A Wuxia Inspired Story) at novel35.com
By three men and three women all wearing dragon and demon masks.
The same people that destroyed that city…were these my people? Were these the people I lead to conquering cities and villages?
What was I even supposed to do. Just let them take me with them? How would they react once I told them that there former leader was gone and that I inhabited his body?
At this point…I was out of options.
No one was going to help me out here no matter how much I tried, begged and pleaded. There was no way I could redeem myself by killing people I didn’t even know. Sure they had done horrific things but where did that leave me…to join them?
But what other option did I have.
As I walked towards them I could hear there voices sounding cheery and giddy.
And all that would stop once I uttered the words that I wasn’t there leader.
Well…here goes nothing.
“I…”
BLAM!
“AHHHHH! AHHHHH! FUCK!” Said one of the masked men as they fell onto the floor.
As he ached in pain and rolled in agony all I could think to do was grab him and run. I’m supposed to kill these people and end the innocent peoples suffering. But once I see someone in pain all I can think about is to help them no matter how much It affects me. These people see a monster when they see me. They think all I want to do is harm people and destroy everything they hold dear. Zhiyuan is the black demon…but I’m just Lixin.
“I knew you were lying somehow you demon! Everyone! Help me to kill the black demon! Now is our chance to end there reign.” Said the woman who held the gun at me before.
As soon as she said that everyone in the village came out each with a look of determination. My name alone made all of these people come out there homes to fight me from being asleep. Some carried swords, others guns and many of them began to move there hand in a position that they were ready to fight.
SLAM!
“Did they just lock the gates behind us?” Said one of the women in a demon mask.
“Looks like we're going to have fight our way out of here.” Said one of the other men in a demon masks.
Within seconds the entire village charged at us with there weapons. Many of those that came out with there fists jumped so incredibly human it could only be seen as supernatural.
“Everyone, whatever you do, do not kill any of these people! Do you hear me!” I proclaimed as I raised my fist in my own feeble attempt at fighting.
“What?!?”
“You’re kidding right?!?”
“Zhiyuan what’s gotten into you!?!”
“Do as I say…that’s an ORDER!”
