"How would you like to become a hero?"

Silence lingered as if it wanted to capture this moment perfectly. Scarlet Blaze look at him, and took forth a sip of her coffee, as she waited for Deus's answer. And finally, after a long and dramatic pause, Deus responded.

"Huh! you want me to become a hero"

"Well, to be honest, I got a new job" Scarlet replied, ignoring his supposed answer. She placed her fingers on her lips in a playful manner, as she continued her response. "You see, one of my old friends has established a new hero agency and asked for my help."

Scarlet shoot Deus a glance, judging whether the topic would interest him, and just as she expected Deus's face was full of shock. "But of course," she thought as she took another sip of coffee, pausing her thought "He's the most knowledgeable on these things"

And that fact was proven true, as Deus began to rant about the subject.

"A New Agency, but those cost millions of dollars to start up. You either have to be a country or insanely rich just to get the funds." Deus replied in a thunderous voice, before taking a deep breath and continuing his rant.

"Not to mention, even if you are an upstart, it's hard to recruit, since all the big agencies go after all the top hero graduates and former sidekicks. You have to have massive influence to get the minimum of recruits. So why would you quit teaching, for something so foolish?

Everything Deus was true; superheroes became a popular and prestige profession in the world after the conclusion of World War 2 and the boom of Espers. So, starting a hero agency was no easy feat. As he stated it costs millions of dollars just to start up an agency and that's not including facilities and advertisement which could lead up to billions of dollars. You either have to be an idiot or a (TBD) to risk that much money, as even if you start up the agency it would be difficult to get recruits since most espers graduating from the academy go to the big-name agencies and most of the rejects become sidekicks.

"No, calm down Ms. Blaze isn't stupid. She wouldn't quit her job if she wasn't sure the agency would succeed. She would likely just recommend some of her students to the agency, so the real question is why she is so confident?" Scarlet shot Deus a mischievous grin as if she could tell what he was thinking.

"Well, you don't have to worry on that front. He was a pretty well-known hero back in the day and he has someone sponsoring him. Anyways he just hired me to help with power development and to snag a few of my former students.

Anyways he just hired me to help with power development and to snag a few of my former students. Anyways we are planning an announcement soon."

"That's great to hear, but why are you trying to recruit me," Deus remarked, pointing his finger at her before making his declaration. "After all, you know I can't become longer become a hero after The Hero Corp."

Scarlet leaned over to him, before placing her hand on his shoulders and began shaking him rapidly. "Details, Details." She replied as she let him go. "So, are you in or.."

"That's great to hear, but why would you want me? I surely just ruined your reputation"

"Think about this for a second, Deus Nox, an S Class Esper who was once known to be a prodigy and expected to become one of the greatest heroes ever. After being outcasted from Hero Society, he joins a newly established hero agency. Thus began his story of redemption"

"Your point being," Deus remarked, in a smirky tone. Having his arm crossed, he faced Scarlet as she continued her desperate plea.

"C'mon the press will eat that up and you know it. Not to mention it bring more traction to our agency and you be a huge addition to the team."

Scarlet glanced at Deus, as she placed her hand out to him. "So will you, do it?"

"I'm sorry, but can't do it. There's a reason why I was outcasted. I'm just not fit to be a hero"

Scarlet sighed "Well if you ever change your mind come to me okay. Also pay me more visit I don't want the only time I'm seeing you when you on the verge of death"

"Ha ha very funny" Deus said sarcastically, as he made his way into the room he was occupying .

" Btw what day is it anyway" Deus asked, as he search through clothes and getting dressed.

"Oh it's Monday. Why you ask?"

"Crap! I am supposed to be at work now."

Deus checked his watch and came to a shocking conclusion. He was running late for work. Damn! I need to get to work "Deus thought, as his eyes stared at the watch once more, as the time read 8:45.

He couldn't help but feel a cold sweat drop from his forehead. The thought of what he described his Karen for a manager would likely run his ear or in worse cases fire him. In this desperate situation, he decided to make his way to work.

"Sorry! go to work" he said, as he quickly got dressed.

Scarlet sighed, as she gave him a look of sympathy. "Alright, try to be safer okay"

Deus rushed out of the door and made his way toward the subway station. After a few minutes, he boarded the Subway. If only he knew what he had in store.
