When he finally arrived at the shop, Deus immediately got to work. He began to sweep the floor and organize comics. He didn't mind hard work, especially since he had to grind the hardest to become an S-Class Esper, but he was annoyed. Due to him arriving late because of the train incident; he would be working overtime and have an pay deduction.
"It was such a drag," Deus thought, as he sat down and watched television
The TV was currently tuned into the news station.
At that moment a glass dropped, and Deus's eyes were glued to the screen.
"We have received word, that the legendary hero Odin is coming out of retirement"
The entire world was in turmoil, the greatest hero ever was coming out of retirement! The sounds of joy and cheers could be heard from across the globe.
Every media, every news outlet all reported the same thing "Odin is coming out of retirement"
However within all the excitement, many forgot the most important detail the reasoning behind his return. It had all been 15 years since the legendary hero lasted done his cape in the New York Castordy in 2008, as now he was but a fragile old man. These were the words of Jack Seers a veteran reporter and one of the best in the industry. Despite his great work he was held in the worse regard by the public and his coworkers it was because of his stubborn, rude demeanor. However, his word did strike a chord
Now the focus of the public wasn't on the hero's return but on the reason.
What they didn't know was this was all according to plan for him, as now they had the public curiosity. Just then the reporter receives a call and got the news he needed. He prepares his crew and coworkers as they were about to bring the biggest announcement of their careers.
"This is just in! A Press Conference is to be held this evening at the Hero Society Headquarters" Jack grabs his phone once again, sending a text to an unknown number: The stage was set, Tiger.
There received the text was Michelle Pride or known by her hero name Ms.Pride an A-class hero. As she expressed her annoyance at the reporter. "Looks like it's time" Pride turned to face the figure in the shadows, hearing the amused laughter of the man. "Jack really has a fun sense of humor, huh, me a fragile old man"
"But he is the best in the business, after all, just look at the crowd he gathered for us." The figure emerged from the shadows revealing himself as the man of the hour. Samuel Peer or known as Odin.
"Maybe you should accept his offer, after all, you too have great chemistry" This infuriated Ms.Pride" That old geezer plz, I have high standards not to mention way better options"
Noticing the opportunity, Odin decided to poke fun at her" Like Mighty Man" He remarked, in a joking matter. Pride couldn't help but blushed, as her face turned a bright red. "No, it's not like that" Pride managed to mutter under her breath.
"Oh, then what is it like" Odin smiled, as he watched Michelle turn into a bright tomato; After a beat back of forth the two now needed to focus on the task at hand.
The two walked towards the podium, greeted with the massive cheers of the crowds. "It was now or never," Odin thought, as he took a deep breath before he began to speak.
"Hello Everyone! My name is Samuel Peer or as all of you know me as the great hero Odin. I have served as your protector for decades, who swore to uphold peace and justice. Today I come before you not as a superhero, but as a man. I hate to say it, but our society has lost the meaning of heroism.
The crowd stood in silence, as Odin sighed staring into the sky. "I have to do this, for her" he utters to himself.
"Gone are the basic principles me and my predecessors taught. Now we are filled with basically celebrities dressed up as heroes. I mind no offense when we need heroes, not idols say this, but one's who inspired hope and can be a symbol of justice. You know how many heroes I see doing commercials or singing in concerts nowadays"

This argument had plagued the hero society since the start of the 2010s, as the stable and symbol, Odin retired. New heroes who only cared about fame and pay came to light. It was a widely discussed and opinionated subject in every media, and news outlet.
Deus's opinion on the matter was similar; he saw most the young heroes only cared about fame and money as the choice of the career, for others, it was a childhood dream of that of comic books. Though Deus didn't understand his points, many would consider this a rambling on an old geezer and nothing will be changed. However, Deus looked closer to the screen he could see Odin smiling
"Who am I kidding? You probably think this is just the rambling of an old geezer right, but that's not what I came over here to discuss. As some of you know I am coming out of retirement. But not as a hero, you see I'm planning on starting a new hero agency"
The crowd stood in silence; Deus was in shock as he remembered the words of Scarlet Blaze. "Don't tell me"
"I understand times are changing and the idea of heroism is changing itself. With all the conflicts of ideologies these past years whether we should kill villains or pay heroes. think it falls on this new generation of heroes to decide that path. So with the remaining time, I have left I want to guide this new age of heroes and help mold them into heroes of the future. I'm calling for all heroes from every background, culture, and in any country to come joins us at The Midnight Agency."
"So, will you join us and lead this new era of heroes?" The crowd began to erupt in cheers
"Good, The Midnight Enlistment Exam will occur this next Friday, any espers between A to C class are welcome to try the exam. This Odin signing out"
Bleep! The TV turned off; Deus glanced behind him to see a middle-aged man dressed in the same uniform as Deus, as his brown eyes gave a look of disappointment to Deus. His name was David Shoclks and he was Deus's boss.
"What are you doing Deus? Get back to work"
"I'm sorry!" Deus quickly replied, as he rushed to get to attend to an customer.
"Wait! Kid, I want to know. Have you truly given up on becoming a hero?"
"I know what happened to you and your situation; that's one of the reasons I allowed you to work here, but as your friend I'm worried. I don't want you to go on regretting not taking that opportunity."
"But it's not like that" David sighed deeply, as he placed his hand on Deus's shoulder.
"Kid I can see it in your eyes. You want to be a hero, but you're too darn afraid of your mistakes and failures in the past. So going to ask you again, and this time I want an honest answer do you want to become a hero."
Deus remembered the words of Odin and the memories of his training and childhood came rushing in. He couldn't lie to himself anymore, he wanted to be a hero. "Yes I want to become a hero"
"Good, Then you're fired, Deus"
Deus looked completely dumbfounded but soon understood his words. He made his way towards "Go! You don't need to work here anymore. Go and become the greatest hero ever."
Espers around the world soon began to gather, as they made their way towards the single location; each counting down the days and training their abilities
Finally, The Midnight Enlistment Exams began
