And with that, a few hours passed, and the sun had fallen, and the moon had risen.

"Okay, so you all have a hivemind, am I correct?" Lex asks.

"Yep," We all reply.

"It has its ups and downs, but I feel like we can separate each other with just a bit of training… because I do feel us becoming one whole being," Mia says.

"Oh, that's not good. Well, we'll continue this conversation tomorrow. You girls will come with us to the military base stationed outside the city, and I need to have another word with Lucy due to some special circumstances," Lex says, and we all nod our heads in compliance.

We all followed the braves who led the injured and remaining humans towards the military base.

It was a long and depressing trek as you could hear the occasional wales of humans not wanting to die and some just screaming from an excruciating injury.

I asked why the healing hero didn't provide any help for them, but she just replied with,

"I can't heal mental scars,"

It seems the wales and cries of pain were from people who still thought they were on the battlefield and still thought they were dangerously injured.

A few more hours had passed, and we finally arrived at the military base, where we were met with giant metal mechs and dozens of high-tier dungeon runners.

"Atlas, we brought some more," Auntie says before taking my wrist and dragging me away from the group.

"Okay… Oh, Lucy, is that you?" A familiar voice called out to me, and I ġrȯȧnėd in exhaustion.

"I knew it… You found out who I was… That's how I was able to get TB, right?"

"Exactly. Anyway, I hope to catch up later once everything has settled down again,"

I just nodded limply as I gave into Aunty's urgent tug.

As we entered it, we were immediately met with a few maids who greeted us while the others prepared a large bed and set out a few snacks.

"Leave," Lex orders.

The maids immediately bowed before exiting the tent quickly.

We all sat down at the wooden table that had a few snacks set out for us. Cookies and milk were on the menu, but I didn't have an appetite.

"So… Cause you're a monster, we need to take some measures that you probably won't agree with, but you have to go with it anyway… Yeah, you'll probably disagree, but this is the best bet we have," Lex starts off.

"You'll be staying with me for the next three years. You won't ever leave my sight, and this will include blood work and some other tests," Auntie continues.

"Other tests? Like what?"

"Like I said before, feather samples and some other samples from your body. Don't worry. It won't be like we're taking an entire arm or something… You can still meet your girlfriend and friends, but this will be monitored as well," Lex answers.

"I see… Well, why don't they stay with me as well? Some of them have family outside the country, but that process will take quite a while, and the rest of them have family members that don't give two shits about them," I suggest.

"Please… I'll make sure they stay good,"

My eyes drooped into puppy dog eyes as I begged to let my friends stay… It wasn't just because of the reason I told her, but also because we needed to keep Tolf running…

"F-fine. But if they cause trouble, we're sending them out… But tonight! It's just you and me!" Auntie shouts in excitement while pushing Lex outside the tent.

She then twirled around and reached out her hands like a pervert as she slowly approached me.

Fwoosh

She instantly removed my clothes with a blast of icy wind and put on a penguin onesie she apparently prepared for me.

Within a few seconds, she also changed into a onesie and grabbed me like a large doll before jumping onto the soft bed.

Fwoosh

Another blast of icy wind switched off the gas-powered lantern towards the corner of the tent, causing the inside of the tent to become dark.

"You brushed your teeth on the way here, right?"

"Yes,"

"You took a shower, right?"

"Yes…"

"Are you sleepy?"

"...Yes…"

"Well then, have a good night's rest because tomorrow we'll be traveling much more,"

I ġrȯȧnėd a bit at the thought of traveling once again, but at least this time, it would be with vehicles.

The surrounding area went utterly silent until Auntie began to hum a sweet tune.

But just before I went over the edge between the dreamland and real-life, Auntie asked me something that made me flinch slightly.

"Do you want to be my daughter?"

I kept my eyes closed, showing no sign of reaction but inside my head; I immediately tapped into the pseudo-hivemind.

'Girls?'

Nobody answered.

I frowned a bit before turning towards Auntie, opening my eyes drowsily.

"Why?" I ask.

"I don't know… Well, I do know. It's not just because I feel responsible for your mother's death but also because I already see you as my own daughter… I want to spoil you. I want to hug you forever. And I want to protect you,"

"It sounds like you're confessing,"

"Don't worry... I like milfs…"

The tent went silent and the remaining drowsiness disappeared… I was in shock. Perplexed. Flabbergasted.

Suddenly, light snoring could be heard coming from Auntie.

"W-wait! You can't go to sleep after saying that!"

I shook her but she didn't wake up.

"What the hell," I mutter before flopping back down onto the bed and hugging the pillow beside me tightly.

…

Another day had come and it was freezing.

Even under all the blankets and my onesie, I was basically an ice cube, unable to get out of bed.

Suddenly, somebody clears their throat from outside the ten and warm air slowly infiltrates the blankets.

"Sorry girl, this happens sometimes when we can't control our powers," a deep voice says.

"It's fine," I respond to the brave of fire.

He was also much younger than what was shown in school but essentially everything else was there.

His short stubby hair was a bright fire red, unlike the reference which had black hair. He has dark brown skin and stubble covering his chin.

"We may have been alive for so long, but our power keeps increasing," The man says before chuckling to himself.

He helps me out of bed due to my numb limbs and violently wakes up Auntie who just realized what she had done.

"Are you okay?!"

She quickly rushes over to me, checking every inch of my body.

I ignore her and respond to the brave of fires response.

"Your power keeps increasing or you keep unlocking new layers to your power?"

The man's bright smile slightly shifted and Auntie flinched as well.

"*sigh*.... Clever girl," The brave of fire says before walking out of the tent.
