Back in the pit, Nolin started training. Since he had no equipment, he started doing pushups, as that was one of the only exercises that could be done without any equipment, and he could perform with his current strength. He had a fragile green aura around his body and was sweating rapidly. He already had smaller sweat puddles underneath him. He had his eyes closed and gritted his teeth, and he was shanking, but he kept on going. When he finished, he sat down and looked at his hands while trying to regulate his breathing. His hands were already injured by the prolonged training and due to the uneven surface of the pit.
"Hah... At least the absorption of the array is neglectable down here, so I can easily use my power to mitigate my exhaustion."
Thought Nolin, and he took off his damaged shirt and suit, rolled them up onto one larger ball, then lay down and used the ball of cloth as a pillow. After a few minutes of rolling, he finally fell asleep. And at that moment, he found himself floating in nothingness.
"Great, another dream..."
Said Nolin, and he looked around. Not far from him, he noticed a green orb floating just like him, and as he looked at it, it started expanding, and soon it took up a human-like form. However, it was clearly visible that it was made of green energy and was slightly transparent. The formed figure walked closer to Nolin.
"Nolin... Finally. I wanted to speak with you earlier, but you were unconscious so. "
"Who even are you? I don't believe I know you."
"Well, yes, but actually, no. Technically you KNOW me, but you just didn't realise it yet. Let's just say that I am you, but you are not me!"
"I am not in the mood for games."
"I don't see where that's my problem... Anyway. What I wanted to tell you is that I will have to help you get stronger if we want to survive and escape. "
"You?! I once reached the pinnacle of..."
"Without me, you wouldn't even be awake yet. Without me, you wouldn't even be alive. The two of us connected in more ways than you think. You may not realise it yet. But you need me just as I need you in order to survive. So let's throw your pride away, and just shut up, and focus on the things at hand."

"Fine!"
"You have survived your clash with a god. Or, to be precise, you were given a second chance. It is a false assumption, even if you think you write your own story. But with my help, you can break free, get strong enough to survive, get strong enough to protect your loved ones, and get strong enough to exact your revenge! But in return, I need your help, support and cooperation!"
"Fine, but first..."
Said Nolin, but suddenly the figure faded, and moments later, he woke up. Nolin quickly sat up, looked around the pit and closed his fists. Next to him, there was a smaller barrel and a mug, both made from wood. And the barrel was filled to the brim with some green liquid. Nolin stood up and looked at his palms; despite the fact that they were injured during his training, while Nolin slept, they seemed to have healed up. Then he closed his fists, slightly clenched them, and walked over to the barrel. He stared at the liquid, then carefully dipped his index finger into it, and then tasted it.
"It tastes kinda sweet... Could it be that man's doing? Could it be that he genuinely wants to help me? Who knows, but I will graciously accept this barrel of drink."
Thought Nolin, then grabbed the mug, filled it with the liquid, drank it, then put it back onto the ground. Nolin started stretching his arms, legs and neck. At some point, his bones slightly cracked, but as soon as he was done, he kneeled down, generated a thin green aura, and continued doing pushups; he kept a consistent, stable speed.
"Yesterday, I forced myself to do 150 with the help of my magical powers... Today let's aim for at least 200 for each set."
Thought Nolin as he slightly increased his speed. As he was doing more and more, his hands started shaking, and Nolin closed his eyes, and the aura around him slightly grew thicker, and his shaking stopped. When he was finally finished, he sat down and looked at his hand. Once again, his hands were full of cuts and scrapes. However, as he was looking at them, they started to slowly heal.
"What the?! My hands started to heal by themselves this rapidly. Maybe that wasn't just a dream? Could he really be the reason I am alive?"
These thoughts crossed Nolin's mind while he walked back to the barrel and drank another cup of that green liquid.
"Either way, I will not be able to continue things like this. I already feel my arms, even while I am focusing on mitigation... I have to change physical and magical training... I will try to do two days of intense physical, two days magical, and one day to rest, then again and again..."
Continued his line of thoughts Nolin while he drank a third cup of liquid. As he finished slurping the green drink, he sat back down by the wall of the pit, leaned slightly back and just stared at the base of the pillar in front of him. While he was sitting, he tried to regulate his breathing, and about a quarter of an hour later, he proceeded to do another set of pushups again, but this time his thin layer of aura was denser, as his hands were already tired due to the previous set, however despite his fatigue, Nolin kept on working out. Eventually, he started slowing down, and despite having a green aura around him, his hands started to crack slightly; he didn't give up; instead, he started smiling.
