“A most tempting offer…but I’ll have to decline.”
The reply brought an immediate disappointment to Atenisha’s expression, however, Silver wasn’t done yet. He stopped his circling and quickly followed up. “Attractive as you are, I can’t sleep with one I just met, at least not my current self. The problem I faced during my first time wasn’t the usual kind of problem one finds in the bedroom. It was one of a different sort, and requires a very special approach,” he said all this while staring directly into Atenisha’s golden eyes.
“Special approach?” she questioned.
Silver nodded before throwing his gaze towards a distant wall. “To prevent the same thing from happening again, the next person I sleep with will have to be someone I’ve known for a while, at least several months, whom I’ve built a loving and trusting rapport with, and that has gained both Ralf and Ray’s love and acceptance. Until someone meets these conditions, I won’t risk hurting myself.”
“Hmm.” Hearing the conditions, the cloud of gloom that shrouded Atenisha suddenly dissipated and her eyes reignited with fire. “I see, so we just need a few months to get to know each other. That seems like a cinch, I’m super charming after all. I’ll snatch that heart of yours in a flash.”
Silver smiled. “From what you’ve shown, I don’t doubt that. If you had a few months, I’m sure you could wrap me around your finger in no time…unfortunately, you don’t.”
“I don’t?” She asked with a head tilt.
He resumed his drawing. “Yes, after all, I’ll be leaving Zudrad shortly.”
“What!?”
The crowd erupted at the announcement. Exclamations sounded one after the other as people lost their minds over what was said.
“You’re really leaving? Where? And why?” Atenisha asked the questions on everyone’s minds.
“The Hunter Academy, more specifically, the Grey Wolf Academy. I’ll be leaving just after the final match. As for why? There are a few reasons, but If I had to pick one, I’d say it’s to challenge myself. I’m interested to see how I compare - how the world’s most talented psionics compare to me.”
The answer disappointed the crowd, but in a way, they could perfectly accept.
It was clear that Silver was of a different calibre, so it only made sense to them for him to move to a more fitting stage than the humble one he currently danced upon.
“I see, that’s a shame.” Atenisha’s whole being seemed to deflate all at once. The flame of hope which had just begun burning fizzled out as she realised that there was no way for her carnal desires to be fulfilled in the immediate future.
Seeing this, Silver ground to a stop once again. “Aten,” he started, “I’ve been mulling it over, and came up with a proposal.”
“Hmm, not a romantic one I take it,” Atenisha said, despondency sounding clear in her voice.
“Nope, a sexual one.”
“Hmm?” The word was like magic to the female fighter and she instantly regained her energy.
Silver resumed his stride while explaining. “The proposal is this. If you can best me here tonight, I’ll sleep with you as you wish and we can act out the colourful description you laid out previously.”
“Really?” Atenisha’s eyes flickered a moment before she reeled herself in. “Wait, what’s the catch, what do you get if you win? Also, are you alright betting that?”
The fused being rolled his shoulders. “I am. If I happen to lose, it is what it is. As for what I get? Nothing…at least not from you. I mentioned it earlier, victory is what excites me, so my reward will be that and that alone. So, what do you say?”
“Agree.”
Atenisha’s answer couldn’t come faster. Never had she been so sure of anything before.
“Excellent. There’s still enough time for a few more questions, go ahead.”
Following the words, questions and answers were traded as more and more of the circle was drawn.
“Boobs or butts? Which do you like best?”
“Both.”
“Top or bottom?”
“Top, obviously.”
“Any fetishes?”
Favourite food, favourite colour, favourite film…the questions were incredibly mundane and personal.
Many in the audience began tugging at their hair in frustration at the wasted opportunity they believed this was. In their minds, they shouted out their burning questions only for the void to swallow them up without a trace.
But where they saw the questions as wasteful, Atenisha saw them as projectiles that worked to chip away more and more of the psychological wall separating the two’s hearts.
*Halt*
With just a metre of the curved line left to draw to complete the circle, Silver stopped again. He gave Atenisha one last visual scan. To say he liked what he saw was an understatement of note. One thing that was clear from first stepping into the ring with her, was her incredible competency as a fighter.
Throughout all the sex talk and light topics, she maintained a highly vigilant state, poised and ready to react to anything he might do.

She was akin to a nuked arrow on a fully taut bow and had been maintaining this state since the very beginning.
Finishing up his visual scan, he shut his eyes. When he opened them up a second later, he would welcome true darkness.
“Silver?” Atenisha questioned. Every time he stopped had a reason, so she was curious as to what it was this time
“Aten…I have a question for you.” While saying this, Silver went ahead and completed the circle.
Atenisha tensed up at the sighting. Still, with ten metres between them and her tower shield standing in the way, she wasn’t too worried that answering a simple question would comprise her battle ability in any significant way.
“Since you’ve been answering my questions, it’s only fair I do the same. Fire away, ask me about whatever.”
The crowd’s concentration spiked as the match entered its fighting stage. They awaited Silver’s next words with held breaths and anticipation swirling in their hearts.
Silver nodded. “I only have one question to ask, well it’s more a preference than a question. I have two tactics prepared to end this fight quickly. One involves this gun at my waist and the other involves this sword and this,” pausing, he conjured up a long needle-like spear, “Psi spear. Of the two options, which do you prefer I use?”
Atenisha squinted. Her face showed confusion. She could understand the gun somehow being able to instantly end the match, but the Psi spear? How would he use it?
This question was on everyone else’s minds as well. Many things had been tried to get the better of Atenisha during these matches, but none had involved the use of Psi weapons. They were curious as to how it would be implemented, and luckily for them, Atenisha was as well.
“The spear and the sword combo, I’ll choose that.”
Silver nodded. “Very well.” His gloved hand moved to the vertical ‘spear’ and nonchalantly flicked at it. His simple touch set it off and following the strange ping it gave off, the object shot straight up.
Atenisha’s mind remained calm in the face of the strange action. She had considered the possibility that the Psi spear was a distraction meant to split her attention so made sure to keep her golden eyes locked onto Silver’s figure, lest he suddenly moves. And lo and behold, after firing off the ‘spear’, Silver had broken into a leftward dash.
The female fighter’s mind raced as she prepared to meet his advance. She had come prepared with a trick. Her current shield, while identical in appearance to the one she normally used, had a key difference that enabled a certain tactic.
Of all her items, the shield was the only thing that couldn’t be used to instantly end the match…until now that is. She switched up the materials in such a way that if the electricity dispelling baton was switched on while in contact with the backside, the entire shield would become a giant taser.
Her plan was simple, shield bash him and employ this tactic. Right now, she moved to carry it out.
She scrunched up her body behind the shield and then with the baton hidden from view, moved to charge at her foe.
But…
‘Ah?!’
Without warning, her world was suddenly plunged into darkness. Her mind blanked at the sudden and unexpected transition. In this moment of weakness, Silver made his approach.
Atenisha broke out of her daze upon hearing the sound of dirt exploding under an intense step. But with her mind still scrambled, Silver’s whereabouts or even general trajectory was completely lost to her.
She was confused and panicked, however as a testament to her veteran status, her body still moved in an optimum way. Instead of staying stationary, she held her shield and charged forward, hoping to collide with him. In her mind, the two were just as blind as the other in this situation and that it was dangerous to stay in the same position, for only by using this as a reference could he do any damage.
Importantly, she couldn’t track his figure by sensing the protective Psi on him. In the anti-Psi domain, her Psi Sense was severely comprised. The same couldn’t be said of Silver though. With his extreme sensitivity, he could detect her with ease.
Still, this basically took the form of a blob on one’s person until it was activated. It was useful in knowing where she was but not her exact movements.
This is why Silver didn’t rely solely on this.
Swoosh!
A hand suddenly gripped around her neck. Before she knew it, she was swept off her feet and on her backside. Her shield went flying off at the breakneck whiplash. Feeling herself being pinned, Atenisha moved to counter. Her left hand drew out her knife and slashed at her front. But the slash wasn’t meant to be as a hand expertly caught her wrist.
Stopped in her tracks, Atenisha moved to attack with her baton but before she could even put any power into her fingertips, the whistling of air reached her ears. Hearing it and feeling the added weight on her neck told all she needed to know.
Still, she wanted to confirm it. Pressing the button on the side, the baton released its signature sparks and briefly lit up the darkness around her. In that small window, Atenisha captured a sight she would never forget, Silver staring at her with blank eyes. Light and darkness seem to balance themselves perfectly on his cool visage in those passing moments. It was a mesmerizing sight.
After plunging back into darkness, the female fighter’s thoughts and emotions turned chaotic.
“What’s happening?”
“Hey! Someone switch on the lights!”
“I can’t see anything!”
The crowd didn’t have to clamour for too long before their needs were addressed. Just seconds later, the lights that were normally used to light up the stands were angled towards the ring.
Lit up once again, the crowd bore witness to the result of the match. Mounting her stomach, Silver’s right hand was holding Atenisha’s left wrist, while his left hand was holding his sword, whose blade was firmly pressed against the protective Psi coating her neck.
Looking down, Silver met with nothing but darkness, the same as before. But a moment later, that was corrected and the sight of Atenisha’s fully crimson face greeted his senses.
