Match settled, Silver didn’t linger in his position. Still, his subsequent movements couldn’t be called swift. He pulled his blade away and got to his feet before taking a few steps back.
Atenisha didn’t budge from her spot. Her chest heaved up and down rapidly as a bothersome heat engulfed her body.
In an attempt to dispel it, she tried focusing her thoughts on understanding what had just transpired. Her thoughts lead her upwards, to the ceiling where she focused on a freshly made hole. Looking at it, she quickly pieced together what had happened.
‘I see, that’s what he did. The lights are protected by Psi barriers during the fights so you can’t knock them out directly, so instead, he went after the wiring circuitry a few metres back, embedded in the undefended concrete parts. That’s why he chose that needle-like design. That sorts out how it went off but doesn’t explain when he learned of this.’
‘I’ve looked through all the videos and he’s never used his Psi Scan to probe that area…hmm, I see, it must be when he was practising with Lady Chloe. While doing that, he could have learned which spot to hit to knock out the lights. Or maybe, he just asked the Duke for schematics.’
Atenisha hit the nail on the head. As Ralf, Silver had come to learn the power grid layout during his training sessions with Chloe. He used this knowledge to accomplish his blackout tactic.
‘This is smart and all but…wouldn’t it be better to just fight normally instead of using such a risky tactic. He might have been preparing for it but fighting without sight against someone who has tools that can instantly end the fight was a big risk. If he was unlucky, he could be hit by a random wave of my baton or knife and that would be the end of it. Hmm, did he take this risk because he wanted to lose? A possibility.’
No, Silver would never purposely lose.
What she deemed as risky…was not. Silver’s Echo Scan was essentially a slightly inferior Psi Scan. It allowed him to perceive his environment in very clear detail.
The base Echo Scan provided amazing clarity and motion tracking, but to be safe, Silver strengthened the effect by disabling several senses before beginning the attack. So where Atenisha was like a headless chicken in the dark, Silver was like a bat. His norin combat prowess was largely unaffected, allowing him to swiftly take her down.
[Match 7, what a match. So many things to unpack, this is definitely one to rewatch a few dozen times.] Vostel’s voice sounded out. [I’m sure many are curious about the ending sequence. Thankfully, our viewing team has got you covered. We managed to record several perspectives showing what transpired in those heart-pounding few seconds. If you’re interested, it will be available in the Enviso libraries.]
While the announcer did his duties, Silver did his. Retrieving a lollipop, he opened it and then stuffed it in his mouth. As he reached for a second one, he was stopped by Atenisha’s voice.
“Hey, you said you had two tactics, right. What was the tactic involving the gun?”
“Hmm, well, I guess I can show you.”
The cheering crowd quickly settled down upon noticing the two’s interaction was continuing. Then, when they heard what was said, they replanted themselves in their seats and focused up.
Atenisha followed suit, except she stood up.
Letting everyone’s attention gather on him, Silver started. He first moved outside the anti-Psi domain. Then, he turned towards his gate, unholstered his pistol and aimed in said direction. Psi rushed from his figure into the distance, where it constructed a makeshift Atenisha, shield and all, while also illustrating the anti-Psi zone around her.
Atenisha was impressed at the replication, He had not just got her figure down to a tie, but also her exact stance. Her eyes narrowed with delight as she arrived at the most obvious conclusion as to why everything was so detailed.
“Ready?” he asked.
“Go ahead.”
Getting the green light, Silver did a countdown. “Okay, in 3 2 1 -’ Skipping zero, several ring-like Psi projectiles shot off in seemingly random directions. Then, to her bafflement, he jerked his pistol wayward, seemingly aiming at the stands.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Her previous bafflement turned to shock as she witnessed the twisted pathways the bullets travelled through the air.
All three entered and rode long rapidly forming curved tubes which wickedly changed their initial trajectory. In amazement, she watched as all three bullets tore into her Psi clone, striking both shoulders and her head.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Silver didn’t end at three and emptied the whole clip into her Psi figure before blowing at the end of his barrel and turning to her.
“That’s it…think you could have avoided it?”
Atenisha simply shook her head.
Getting shot at…was something she was very used to by now. Many of her opponents opted for guns and tried landing a shot, but all who tried failed. With her powerful body, enhanced vision, giant shield and experience working in tandem, dodging was a cinch for her. Predicting a bullet’s trajectory from barrel movement was something she become quite good at, however, this proficiency only applied to linear projectiles.

Curved projectiles were a different story entirely. Given the accuracy and speed he just showed, Atenisha knew that if he used this tactic at the start, or really anytime in the match, she would quickly be eliminated.
A bitter look surfaced on her face at this understanding. But this bitterness didn’t linger too long. Shifting her gaze back on his figure, a slew of other emotions poured in, and tore the negative feeling to shreds, once again returning a radiant smile to her face.
Silver’s eyes showed a pleased look seeing this. He plucked out the lollipop from his lips. “For your efforts, a candy.” He reached into his coat to retrieve the chocolate ball candy that had become customary to give.
But...
Atenisha closed in at speeds rivalling teleportation, and then had her fingers wrap around his lollipop’s stick. She didn’t grab it out of his hand, but instead gently tugged it towards herself. Silver’s eyes flickered as he read her intention. In the end, he let go
“Thanks.”
A sweet smile surfaced on the female fighter’s face at the result. Atenisha took hold of the lollipop and with all eyes on her, plopped it into her mouth. She made no overt sexual gestures, yet looking at her fiddle with the lollipop was enough to set off an arousal bomb in the venue.
In the blast zone, Silver was hit hard. The look of satisfaction, pleasure and joy all conveyed in her sinking eyes jolted his system. At that moment, the mental block in his mind seemed to shrink to half its size.
Where it lost size, another began gaining it. Noting its rapid rise, Silver quickly fired off a mental signal and just like his sense of pain, ‘disabled’ it. Safe, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Atenisha smirked as she watched his internal disarray. It filled her with a sense of power, which in turn fueled her pleasure. She removed the lollipop from her lips. “Looks like this is where we part ways. I enjoyed our time together, Silver.”
“Likewise, Aten.”
The utterance caused the female fighter’s eyes to ripple. “Silver, while it wasn’t meant to be on this night or a night in the near future,” Atenisha closed in again, this time practically leaning on him as she moved her head beside his. Then, with a voice most seductive, she slipped her words into his ear with a whisper. “The time doesn’t matter. Be it a year, three years, or more…I’ll always welcome your sword, spear or gun. Don’t forget about me, okay…”
Silver was slow to answer. Her voice, her body heat, her quickened breath, her large soft breasts pressed up against him; these sensations momentarily paralysed the fused being. Only several seconds later did his quivering lips finally part to respond.
“I won’t.”
Atenisha smiled. “Good, I trust you won’t. But just to make sure…” Her voice died down as her lips puckered up. She quickly closed in and planted a light kiss on his cheek before pulling away. “...I’ll leave you with this.”
Atenisha showed a joyous smile at her successful marking. Turning on her heels, she walked off to her gate.
“Till next time, Silver.”
She strode off, gripped tightly by the desire to immediately get herself off; the match had worked her up to no end.
Silver stood rooted to his spot. Looking closely, one would find a tinge of red on his face where there wasn’t before. He stared at her leaving figure, his gaze fixed on the draconian stones attached to the arrows…at least, this is what he would say when questioned later.
‘What a match, It was worth coming out for this.’
His lips tugged up as he thought. Wearing this smile, he turned around and headed for his own gate.
But three steps in, the smile on his face froze. He glanced back with an incredulous look as he captured an all too familiar sight. ‘Really…again.’
“Ahaha, Rank 7, thanks Silver, appreciate it.”
To show her appreciation, Atenisha zipped toward him with her newfound speed and planted another kiss on his unkissed cheek. Doing so, she then retraced her steps with an added sway to her hips.
Caught lacking not once but twice, Silver stood blank-faced, thoughts and emotions swirling in chaos. It was only after the monstrous gate swallowed up her figure did he finally managed to unfreeze himself. A wry smile surfaced on his face. It would remain like this for quite some time. After a sigh, he turned and headed to his gate.
‘The future is truly uncertain.’
Silver showing up, his plans to leave for the Hunter Academy, his ideal partner, his sexual preferences and orientation, the unorthodox methods he used to achieve victory, the magical candy granting another level up…
Leaving the venue, the crowd had no shortage of topics to discuss, and know that they did. Frenziedly, and throughout the night.
