Chapter 14: Scorched Raven General

Darell heard the notification and sighed in pleasure. He had killed five Scorched Ravens and was awarded 50 XP.

Darell quickly checked his stats.

He looked at the others and saw that they were wiping the blood off their faces and clothes.

Strangely, the blood of the Ravens they killed felt real when they wiped it off even though it was an illusion.

Darell and the others knew they had cleared the first floor. A portal opened in front of them. They went through the portal and appeared on the 2nd floor.

This time, they weren't assaulted by the Ravens. They walked deeper into the floor and met with 40 Scorched Ravens who were peacefully sleeping in what looked to nest.

Lilith quickly used her skill and surrounded the Ravens with a fog. None of the Ravens were learned by the fog and continued sleeping peacefully.

Darell and the others quickly entered the fog and began killing the Ravens.

After a few minutes, all of the Ravens were butchered. 

Darell used Sense to find any Raven who might sneak behind them.

When he found no one, he sighed in relief.

Another portal opened in front of them and they walked through it. They arrived on the 3rd floor of the dungeon and were instantly bombarded with fireballs.

Lilith used Ice Wall to block off the fireballs. Darell used Sense to check the number of Ravens assaulting them. He wrinkled his brows in annoyance.

He looked at his friends and said "80 Scorched Ravens are bombarding us with fireballs. We have to split them apart or they will surround us."

Everybody nodded and used their skills to break apart the Raven's formation.

Darell used his combat techniques Reaper Fist and Earth-Shattering Slash to kill as many as he could. 

Emma and Lilith teamed up to blind them or freeze them and killed them instantly.

Eric and Ariel worked together and killed the Ravens which were dumb enough to attack them.

After a couple of minutes, all the Ravens were dead.

They went on to clear the first 5 floors. 

Darell cut down the last Raven and used his sword to prevent himself from falling. Even though he had trained his body beforehand, to fight against a horde without having any rest tired him out.

Lilith, Emma, Eric, and Ariel were extremely tired and were lying on the ground gasping for breath.

Suddenly, a portal opened in front of them and they were quickly teleported to another floor.

Darell and the others thought they were teleported to another floor but this floor was incredibly peaceful.

The sun shone brightly high up in the sky. Trees were waving their branches as if greeting them. A lake full of crystal clear water shone brightly and reflected the surrounding beautiful landscape.

Darell and the others had their jaws wide open as they felt the peaceful atmosphere around them.

They quickly got up and ran to the lake where they washed themselves and their clothes clean.

They then noticed a platform where certain things had been put.

They walked to the platform and saw potions and beast cores on it.

They jumped with joy and quickly distributed them.

After a couple of hours, they had rested well.

Lilith, Emma, Eric, and Ariel leveled up and were now level 06. 

As Darell was lying on the grass, he heard a notification.

[ DING ]

[CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE LEVELED UP!]

Darell checked his stats and saw that he was level 07. He smiled and got up from the grass.

He walked toward the others and they went out of the floor through a portal to reach the 6th floor.

As they went on to clear the next 4 floors, Darell saw a pattern.

A portal opened and transported them to another safe floor, Darell and the others sat in a circle. 

Darell said, " I am sure you all have noticed that the number of Ravens we encounter on each floor is twice that of the previous floor."

They nodded their heads with serious expressions.

Darell sighed and said, "This means we will have a tough battle ahead."

They rested for some minutes and walked through a portal that teleported to the 11th floor.

They went on to clear the 15th floor and entered another safe floor. They obtained yet another set of potions and beast cores which helped them to increase their mana and replenish their health. 

Darell had to pretend to absorb the beast cores in front of everyone. He sneakily gave the beast cores to Lilith who absorbed them. He felt bad to hide the fact that he got a system from his friends but he had no intention of telling them as it would bring harm to their lives. When they were strong enough to protect themselves, he might tell them.

They cleared the next 5 floors without much difficulty. Surprisingly, they didn't have to fight against them with much concentration.

The Ravens wouldn't dodge their attacks and simply received them till they died.

Darell and the others grew suspect of the visor. 

When they exited the safe floor and teleported to the 20th floor, they saw a huge horde of Scorched Ravens waiting to pounce on them.

They were surprised at first but the huge horde confirmed their suspicions. The floors after the 19th floor were of extreme difficulty.

But, it was not a huge problem for them. Lilith, Emma, Eric, and Ariel had leveled up to level 08 while Darell himself had leveled up to level 09.

They defeated the Ravens on the last 3 three floors but they had to be concentrated on the Ravens around them. They saw that the Ravens were more coordinated and attacked in a pattern as if someone was commanding them.

After they cleared the 23rd floor, they didn't enter the portal but stayed behind and rested for a bit. They then entered the portal to the 24th floor. 

When they entered the floor, they saw 10,000 Scorched Ravens flying above them and looking at them with a hungry glint in their eyes.

Darell and the others readied their weapons and started their assault on the Ravens.

Outside  the training hall,

Several Instructors were watching the events happening in the training hall through a crystal ball.

One of them spoke, "The first-year students this year are much more talented and hardworking than the previous years."

All of them nodded their heads.

Athena smiled and said "We have unique students this year. Consider the Rogers siblings."

All of the Instructors looked at Athena and nodded their heads.

BOOM

All of them shifted their gaze to the crystal ball.

Back inside the training hall,

Darell used Death's Touch to kill yet another Raven. He used Reaper's fist to kill more Ravens.

After a few minutes, everyone killed all the Ravens.

A portal opened before them but it was a red-colored portal.

They rested for some time while drinking the remaining potions. They entered the final floor.

Darell and the others saw a huge tree in the middle of the floor. The tree had its branches filled by Scorched Ravens. Atop the topmost branch sat an abnormally large Scorched Raven which looked quite different from the other Ravens.

It looked at Darell and the others which made them feel fear for the first time they entered this dungeon.

Darell saw the beast and thought to himself.

' A Scorched Raven General '
